As someone who's been a sony customer for quite some time and i've never held interest in hacking or jailbreaking or whatever consoles, I just ignored this whole key fiasco when it first started. Then over and over again you're getting your getting all butthurt about it, pushing everyone into lawsuits over it. Guess what I'm doing when I get home now? If you said "go home and jailbreak my ps3", you're right!

The fact is that network connection is never guaranteed to be stable, and offline is a necessity. So if Sony uses this much like how steam works right now where it's just an option for convenience, then yes this will be a good idea. However, I fear Sony will make it a necessity, especially since recently Sony has proven to everyone that they're huge control freaks. They won't be happy until you have to ask them to do anything and everything on your own console. No thanks Sony, this is why I give Apple products the finger.
Let's not forget the time that McAfee completely destroyed countless windows computers by mistaking a system file for a virus. Would you pay 7.7 billion for a company that does something like that?

I was excited yesterday when I mistook that for an SD card. Proprietary sony? Really? Again? Ahh well...it's still better than those stupid UMDs...
