I am more concerned about how easy it was for the to get into this country with fake passports. I mean, after 9/11 you would think it would be a little more secure. Now I bet we have tons of terrorists in here using the exact same method...sigh
Can someone explain to me how this is better than just going to my local store on a release day and buying it? Why pay Amazon $6 more to get it on the same day? I don't get what Amazon is thinking??
Sad. I would have actually purchased a subscription if it wasn't so darn expensive! From what I remember it was upwards of $40-50 dollars a year correct? That magazine should be no more than $20, especially since most of the content was user contributed.
The latest AIX 5.3 has this same stupid limitation too. It's driving us nuts at work cause we authenticate to Active Directory which supports long passwords, but AIX only cares about the first 8. Ridiculous.. We had to purchase SpecOps and force AD to limit to max of 8 so that users would be forced to have a unique password everytime. We contacted IBM and they said they had no plans on fixing this.
I was a subscriber to Verizon, but switched, because Cingular had better phones, and the fact that they used Sim cards. Why? Cause I have like 3 older phones and I love the fact that I can swap out my sim card to use in a cheaper phone if mine breaks, or if I'm going somewhere that could cause damage. That sole fact was the reason I left Verizon. I HATE paying $200 for a phone only to be locked into one carrier. It's ridiculous.. At least now if I ever leave Cingular for another GSM Carrier, I can easily unlock my phone
I completely disagree. I just priced out a E1505 with the exact same specs as the low-end macbook pro, and it was $1,358. You can't keep using overpriced software costs to justify a mac (iLife, etc). What if I don't want iLife, iPhoto, etc... They shouldn't force me to pay $2000 for it. I'll take the hardware and download the freeware applications that I want.
I really, really hope the Wii doesn't only support WEP like the DS does. It's bad enough having to run my wireless network in degraded security mode. Maybe they will go with WPA2 and somehow upgrade the DS in the future?
Well yea.. he's not playing against another person.. but a computer.. I guess you could equate it with watching Kasperov (sp?) playing chess against Big Blue..
Well, actually I believe everything is theories. We really shouldn't be so arrogant as people to think we have the answers to everything, regardless if it's religion or science. They both are different ways of explaining things. Neither is "right".
Yes, but science is all technically "theories" as well. Just because we *think* we know how to date something, doesn't mean we get the right answer. Heck, science disproves itself every year, changing some previous thought out "solution" to a new one. For example, for years science said that ulcers were caused by stress and/or increased stomach acid. Then one day (I believe about 6 months ago), a group of scientists found that they are actually caused by bacteria! So now bacteria is the "theory", and give it 5 more years and they will say it's something else.
Thank you for your comment! I finally found someone else that shares my beliefs. I certainly believe that both creationism and evolution can be hand-in-hand. Heck.. God could have been the one that made the two apes have a little hairless baby! The only problem I have with some creationists is their belief in the whole "Genesis should be taken literally". I keep trying to explain to them that God (or Moses) probably had to put the events the old testament into "baby" terms, much like if you had to explain to a 2 year old how quantum physics work. Things need to be very simple. God couldn't have just said "Hey, I created these creatures out of molecules, carbon, etc, and created these things called "organs" that do specific functions" etc. He could just say "I created Man, and then Woman, and it was good. Yea!":)
I also think of the belief of not eating pork by Jewish folk. I keep trying to say "HEY! Your Father knew better back in the day to let you eat meat that could make you really, really sick. So he said "Do not eat the meat of pigs!" rather than trying to explain what "bacteria" was and such.
Now a days we know how to clean pigs, and meat, etc.. so have at the BBQ!
That was probably more that $0.02, so I'll make it a buck thirty-five.
If I'm not mistaken, sitting in a turned off car and using the gas is going to lead to a seriously flooded engine. Nice when mommy comes back from the grocery store to find her kid has stalled out the car by playing the xbox360!
I have a domain, and I use false information. What to know why? Because when I had my email and real address on my domain name, I got junk mail to my house, and spam to my email address! Until they can hide the contact info from the general public, I will keep falsifying my public information.
The first thing I thought of on reading this was "How long would it be till someone figured out a hack for free long distance?" I mean, if you can get the "ad" to dial up your friend in singapore, then you are good to go. It seems that in the past any service providing "free" dialing apps (tellme, etc) always turned it off after it was abused.
I'm just waiting to use it to get Cingular to call itself and deal with its own crappy ppl:)
Yea and check out the person who won with a bid of $5100

Are people just trying to screw over the people selling xboxs, or are they microsoft droids hoping to make the nightly news about "Incredible! XBOX360 sold for $5100 on eBay today! It's the new must-have item for Christmas!!!"
Why doesn't Google just change the name from "Gmail" to "GoogleMail". They already have the domain for googlemail.com, and I think it would be a better branding option anyways.
Explain to me why they didn't release a bluetooth/wireless version of this mouse?? I was so excited about my upcoming mac mini purchase when I saw this, until I realized it was wired:(
We had the same problem here. Make sure you have the latest Java installed (1.5) and check out what plugins you have installed in Firefox. Once we removed all the plugins it worked. Don't know which plugin it was (adblock, noscript, stumble). Even disabling them didn't seem to help.
Well what about when it does go final? Or are you saying you can't download the final pieces till you pay for it? Even then, what stops someone from putting it up on bittorrent or other sites?

Not without invalidating any support from IBM in the form of patches and whatnot.

And PS, how about selling your hardware apple without and OS? Then I can get it for $1200 and buy OS X separately for $129 if I want to.
Or I can put Linux on it. Or I can get boot camp and run Windows on it.
No more software inflating prices.

I have no idea why I want to say this so bad, as I'm usually very clean, but..
It looks like Sony shot their load early.

Not my cup of tea though..
It's a sad, sad world when people will pay to watch someone else play a game over the internet.. ...unless of course it involves porn :)

I never thought I'd see the day. The site seems dead now. This is great. Even their massive bandwidth cannot handle the iron fist of the SLASHDOT!

I swear, every year at the end of July we get the same "Sysadmin Appreciation Day" story. Can't the editors search the archives!!?!?
