I used to be a phone tech. You have no idea how easy it is for me to eavesdrop on your conversations. Go down to best buy, buy a cheap phone, a couple of alligator clips, and you can make yourself a buttset. All you need to open a house box is a pair of needle-nose pliers, and hook up to the correct pair, and you're gravy.
VOIP is MUCH more secure than copper will EVER be. Sorry, but it's the truth.
yeah, I've got one for sale too. email me at [myusernameinlowercase]@[myusername].net I've had the damn thing sitting in storage for a few years now. I live in the phoenix area.
AMEN!! Jumpstart was honestly the best thing since sliced bread when I still worked at iPlanet Learning. When you're spinning hundreds of boxes every day, you really need jumpstart.

okay, I just wanna nitpick a little if that's okay. I used to work with sun on a regular basis when I was involved with iPlanet (I was on the netscape side). Sun did 3 rounds of layoffs that I remember, cutting engineers, yet still seemed to be hiring for marketing and sales, in the department I was in. Quite frankly, I was really confused seeing all these great engineers being shown the door, when they put pencil-necked marketing monkeys in their place.
As for the cobalt thing, don't even get me started. They killed a perfectly good company.
when I still worked on the release engineering team at netscape, I'd have to reboot the BeOS build machine on a semi-daily basis. Stability was *NOT* one of BeOS's strongpoints. The compiler and the VNC server would kill the box VERY often.
THE COLORS!! Oh jesus fucking christ that's a bright purple. sorry.
As for atari's shop, I wish it wouldn't get shut down. Rush is one of my favorite arcade games, and I play it religiously whenever I go out to an arcade, movie theatre, etc.
Yeah, that's the sad part about it. I remember when I was let go. I figured AOL would do something with the embedding group. That didn't work too well, did it? btw, gerv, hit me up some time. It's been a long time since we've spoken.
I don't agree. I work my ass off now as a cable guy, and with my bills, I *KNOW* I couldn't afford 500 bucks a month. On top of that, being as he'll officially be a FELON, he'll never be able to get a tech job again at a large company, especially if they do any business with the government.
It's *REALLY* fucking difficult to pay 500 bucks a month on top of rent, bills, etc., when all you have is a job at mcdonalds.
The Boondock Saints is definitely in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. It's one of those movies you watch, and walk away from feeling fulfilled.. which is extremely strange. I would suggest you all watch it at least once to understand.
I got laid-off from AOL/Time warner. In the folder with the severance package paperwork, they had the audacity to put an AOL cd. I shit you not. I was really fucking offended by that.
Funny thing is, is this was just the kick in the ass I needed to get the hell out of the tech field anyhow. Sometimes you just hit your artistic and creative limits, and need to move on.
yeah, that'll last long enough till criminals just start chopping people's thumbs off and robbing them that way.
jeez, that does sound bad.
SILENCE ALL!! I have a linux tattoo on my right shoulder (seriously). I want to be sued, goddamnit!!

Looks like we're fucked too.

Actually, there *ARE* mozilla stickers all over san francisco :)
I know I was guilty of throwing up a few dozen of them back in the day.
uhm.. that's because el camino real is a highway. It's highway 87.
I didn't work on netscape/mozilla for 3 years just to see them turn it into a dumbed-down brand of AOL's shitty ISP service.
This just pisses me off.
*breaks out tinfoil hat*
Okay, I feel better now.
you realize you're opening yourself up for the whole "beowulf cluster" slashdot angle, right?

I remember making this when I was a kid with my grandmother. That was always fun (my grandfather's a chemist, learned cool shit from him)

Just remember 911 for copcar
I actually use nextels at work. PTT is much more efficient than cellular phones.

I find that cruel, and excessive.
as in, Engrish?

Don't believe it? How about you ask dawn endico of mozilla.org. She got shitcanned the same time I did.
