For the flying missions in GTA:SA make sure your using a game pad. I'm assuming you're talking about the PC version of course and are using keyboard and mouse. It's impossible to fly with the keyboard. Just hook up a gamepad and pick it up when it comes time to fly.
Why would Dell or any other company use an UPGRADE version of Vista on their brand new installs. This article is about the upgrade version of Vista. You did take the time to read at least the TITLE didn't you?
There are quite a few virtual desktop programs for windows. The quickest, least buggy one I have come across comes from Stardock. I get it my Stardock subcription so I'm not sure if they charge for it separately or not. It does it's job well either way.
You can use the Nightly Tester Tools extension to make all of your extensions compatible with Firefox 2. It works on all of the extensions I use here and it was very easy to use. Just push the "Make All Compatible" button on the bottom of the add-ons window and restart Firefox.
Maybe you should move along to the article and actually read it before making yourself look like a fool in front of thousands of nerds. Oh wait this is Slashdot, not even the editors bother reading the articles.
So, is anyone else getting tired of these Slashvertisement product announcements on the/. front page?
Geez, go to Digg.com [digg.com] for all the up to the minute tech news that you're missing if you only stick around here (the press is already labeling it a "Slashdot killer").

No I'm not at all tired of the Slashvertisement as you call them. If I were I wouldn't come here.
I don't think that the majority of the people come here for "up to the minute tech news". We come for the commentary from our fellow geeks. We come to pick each others brains in hopes of exposing some new angle or insight.
No you're just plain wrong.
Windows boots faster and gets to a usable desktop faster than Linux. Period.
I use both Linux and Windows, mostly Linux though. Windows plain boots quicker.
I wish it weren't true, but unfortunately it is. There is some work being done to speed things up, loading services in parallel instead of one after another. I believe Suse is the first major distro to implement this. I have Suse installed for testing and it boots much quicker than my normal distro kubuntu.
Once again, I'm most definitely not a Windows fanboy, I'm just stating the facts.
Then you would just buy a different laptop. You would be free to choose another make or model that didn't have these features.
Yes that's right gentlemen and ladies(?). You will not be forced to carry the same laptop as everyone else. I know this is now the case. I predict that there will be several companies offering laptops of different sizes, weights, cpu's, storage space, graphic cards, etc., etc., etc.
Hard to believe but true. The future is looking so bright!
I just upgraded to a 6600GT also. And added an XP-M 2600+ and gig of ram, finally.
While these $600 dollar cards aren't meant for the masses, they do drive down the prices of last year's latest and geatest.
I think I paid about the same for the 6600GT that I paid for the ti4200 it replaced.
Keep 'em comin', I say. There will be a use for all of this tech eventually.
For April's sake everybody lighten up. This is my favorite day of the year at slashdot.
Keep 'em coming guys. You're making my day.
Oh and I think all you guys that are bitching really need a big hug. Call your Mom down to the basement and spend some quality time with a living human being.
Is a normal slashdot day really that important to you all?
It is nearly impossible to keep modern operating systems updated via modem and there is no simple way to to copy all of the patches etc to CD. You have to run them all individually. I need Windows Update on a CD.
Check out Autopatcher XP from some guys over at Neowin. This is everything you need and more. They have monthly updates including all security patches and a lot of other fixes. They also include a lot of utilities and programs you may find useful. This thing is awesome for that fresh install of XP. It gets you updated to the very latest in just minutes.
Anyway, check it out it's pretty good stuff, you won't be disappointed.
Check out Autopatcher.
It's a great utility to keep your Windows boxess up to date. It's a hefty download, but it's braindead simple to use. It's strength is bringing a freshly installed WindowsXP SP1 box up to date, but you can use it on an older install. Assuming of course you have SP1 installed already.
I heard about it on the forums at Neowin. They've done an awesome job of collecting post SP1 updates and critical fixes. They have also included some other useful utilities and programs.
I highly recommend this program to anyone that has to administer WindowsXP, especially if you have to look over more than one box.
How long have you been saving that one up?
sudo -i will give you a root shell. We don't you anyway.

but to dismiss anyone who uses myspace as below you is a tad bit elitist.
Elitists on Slashdot?!?!?!
It's the end of the world as we know it!

Funniest comment in some time! Too bad my mod points just expired.

You didn't happen to get your Divx codec from zcodec.com, did you?
If he ever was 900 years old, then at one time he must have been 400 years old. Just as he was 176 years old.

Real men don't use X, or monitors or any of that fancy-shmancy gui overload.

This just tells me that Slackware has many more problems than the other distros.
The simplest way to solve this problem is to just not drop your toast.
I mean, what the hell is a Xeon anyway?
Xeon is the new processor for the Xbox 360.

Yes. You are misunderstanding.
Anything that uses gtk+ will instantly benefit from improvements in gtk+. Think it through, go slowly it won't hurt.
