  1. How to properly study it? on At What Age is it Easier to Learn? · · Score: 1

I don't see how this could be properly studied. I find it much more difficult to remember and learn things as I've aged. I suspect it could be from age, but it could just as easily be from the fact that I'm not focused on learning now that I am out of school.

  2. How many surveys does it take? on Survey Says Internet Users Confuse Search Results, Ads · · Score: 0, Redundant

People are dumb! This isn't exactly news, and we shouldn't be exactly suprised when people continually do dumb things. In fact, we prove ourselves as being dumb by expecting it.

  3. That's easy: on Who Doesn't Use Source Control? · · Score: 1

Because every single version control system I've used sucked. Or rather, let me rephrase that, they were very good at what they did, but were a pain in the ass to use and were poorly documented. Make something hard to use, and less people will tend to use it.

  4. Are they out there? Certainly. on Programming Until Retirement? · · Score: 1

The jobs are certainly out there. But then again, you answer your own question. If you've started and finished so many projects, what keeps you on after the project is over?

My father has worked at the same place [well, not the same physical location, and the same name isn't always on the check, but the system he's worked on has been the same] for nearly 30 years now. This company isn't a 'produce and ship' company, and certainly not a company running at silicon valley speed. They have a business that doesn't change, which computers help with. Since things don't really change, it's hard for anyone to be outdated.

  5. Great. on Consumer Electronics Companies Plan Common DRM Standard · · Score: 1

As long as the DRM allows me to use the music every way I'm legally allowed without a single hindrance or annoyance, fantastic.

Of course it won't, meaning that I'll be burdened as a consumer and less likely to *be* a consumer of such annoyances.

Frankly, I'd think they'll need to worry about large-non-debris impacts. I know I'd go for the main router rather than each individual communications link if I were an enemy commander.

Just because there's pornos doesn't mean someone else can't release chick flicks. Similarly, just because Leisure Suit Larry games exist doesn't mean female preferred games like the Sims series haven't been released and done very well.

Hopefully some publishers/designers will realise that they're excluding potential customers with such tactics like those who now release for Macs as well. But realistically, there will always be a probably large section of the industry [just like the movie industry] which will focus on their core target audience: horny, horny young men.

While I generally agree with the opinion the most are overreacting, this is an issue as it moves the focus from someone doing their job [production] to simple attendance. It likely won't help oversight, instead likely will just be another example of people [low level managers in this case] using technology as a crutch instead of actually doing *their* job.
