New (released more than one month ago) Apple Software Update has two sections. One for updates and other for new software. Last I checked the "new" software was still checked by default - and I really don't feel like installing anything that ASU comes with right now. So does anyone know if they finally fix THAT idiocy?

Setting the preference to 0 effectively disables the Location Bar dropdown entirely. I don't think removing the dropdown alltogether is what everyone is looking for...
Does this mean that people might be able to unsee things *coughgoatsecough* Bah... that's nothing that can't be solved with enough sandpaper applied directly to one's brain... if only I could remember where I put it...

My question is, if it's not released yet how is it a blockbuster? Are we talking "Incredible Hulk" blockbuster or "Spiderman" blockbuster? Used to be a movie had to earn that title. Ummm... how can it be "not released" if it opened here in Austria yesterday?
It's a great movie, by the way. And a lot of fun at the same time.

That's because you've never seen After Dark. I've never so badly wanted a movie unmade save for House of a Thousand Corpses by Rob Zombie. So he's moved from video game adaptions to screensaver adaptions now?
battle angel is a pretty bad example considering there are only 2 episodes While there were only 2 animated episodes, I believe there were 9 manga novels which could easily have been expanded into a full-length series. Or as Cameron plans to do if the movie ever gets made and is successful (since it's supposedly based on the first 3 graphic novels), make another 2 full-length movies to complete the storyline. Well, Kishiro disliked the way those 2 episodes came out and didn't agree for them to make more, so that was the end of it - Cameron had nothing to do with that...
Also, Kishiro's still working on the sequel to, I mean revised ending of, or should we call it continuation of Gunnm: Last Order - 10 books and counting.

For $80, you get a pretty full-featured Linux system. According to the Wikipedia entery you quote, its status is "Discontinued - no longer shipping."
Is this correct? Is there a followon to replace it? That must be the page for the V1 model, since the NSLU2 is alive and well on LinkSys' product pages.
Thanks once again, Slashdot, for making it possible for me to project the impression that I'm doing my job. ^_^ Shouldn't you be thanking Heise instead?
Just saying...

Gamepads that don't suck? Available here. Exactly the same hardware that ships with the XBox 360, plus a driver CD. If you already have said controller, just download the drivers there or hit Windows Update when you attach the controller...
Multiple controllers that plug into one PC for local multiplayer gaming without having to buy four computers? As if that were a problem with the hardware - you can attach as many USB controllers as you want, it's the games that'd have to support them.

having VGA out seems to be smarter than DVI, most projectors and screens that support DVI has a VGA input also, so going with VGA should target a broader audience. There's this thing called a DVI-I connector that gives you both, so why cripple anything with an analog-out-only port these days?
Now, finding the "reply" button sometimes seems like an impossibility (I don't know why, but sometimes the slidebar seems to vanish, taking away the ability to start a reply), but a reload usually fixes that. Uh, actually there's a "Reply" *link* at the very bottom of the comments page for an article... so if you're missing the control bar simply scroll all the way down...
The CD check is still very much in place with UT3 (as well as CoD4). So you "found" a leaked beta of the second patch for UT3, now with added copy protection?
The game as it is installed off the DVD it came on only wants to know it's serial number, once...
