Actually it wouldn't be that hard. Someone could theoretically do it pretty easily with an application such as this by claiming that that part of the application decrypted video or something along the lines of that and that releasing the source could cause legal complications under the DMCA. A company like Transgaming could already be doing this in the closed source part of their program that deals with copy protection, for example.

What are your system specs? I've been considering setting up my spare p3-600 with 384MB RAM which already runs linux (gentoo!) as a PVR. I've already got a spare ati tv wonder, so I was curious how my performance would be (ie if the recorder was going to drop frames to make the encoder keep up with the video).
According to the mIRC home page, their message boards and mailing lists were destroyed in the fire as well. It appears to have affected a large number of people.

Funny that these awards were held in Germany. Big Brother himself practically lives there. Germans are constantly spied upon by their own government! Add that to the fact that they have no free speech rights (just try to start a pro-nazi site or even sell nazi memorabilia) and you've got a pretty un-free state. The award should have gone to their own government rather than M$.
This is a correction to the poster of the parent. Windows drivers can be installed whether they are signed or not. The only fussing Windows does is complains that they aren't signed, but the user can install them anyway.
Get the fastest AthlonXP out there. Get a motherboard with onboard SCSI. Get 15,000RPM SCSI 160MB/s drives Get a NIC Install linux Install apache Install mysql, php, perl, etc.
And there you have it. Is it really necessary to write a long article when all you're basically saying is "get the fastest hardware out there and slap it into one machine"? Come on folks.
