Sounds rather interesting. I've had some issues with my Rio 800 MP3 player with many 2.4 kernels, perhaps it's more stable now? Also great that the kernel guys are working on 2.0 support.
I have one of Axis' earlier network cameras and it's truly great. Really cool to be able to telnet into your camera and login to fix things. It also gets it's own IP.
I wish Axis a warm good luck with this new high speed camera!
There is no WindowsWorld because most Windowsusers don't really like Windows, or their computer generally. It's just something they have to use, wether they like it or not. When something doesn't work they don't think it's the Operating System's fault. They believe it's their own fault or perhaps they blame it on "the computer". It's actually a very popular excuse: "I couldn't do it/was late because the damn computer didn't work". And never ever realize that it could be Microsoft's fault.
Mac users love their computer environment and are very very faithful to Apple. Linux users love their OS and realize if something doesn't work it's usually their own fault, but it can be resolved with a little work.
You should always keep a backup of important data. It might be a CD, floppy, Zipdrive or just a dir somewhere on the system where only root can access it.
You migrated from Unix to Windows? I can only say I feel sorry for you. It must have been a very strict unix invironment where you had no room for own customizations.
This thing is so extremely silly. It's just someone who don't like Linux and want to prove that there are virii for that OS too. Too bad it got headlines.
No sane linux user would ever get caught by this virus.
I heard some rumours that you can run a virus with Wine, I wonder what damage it might make though? And of course using VMWare might enable you to run a virtual virus!:-)
The whole point is that you run programs as a normal user and can only waste your homedir.
I didn't say that ASP and forcing the use of Internet Explorer have anything to do with it. Non-standardized javascripts is the big problem, and the fact that most ASP programmers only care for IE.
I don't think Linux has been particulary hit by the.com crasch. I'd rather say that Microsoft IIS servers are less then popular now after all security issues, including Code Red attacks last summer.
I also firmly believe that many.com companies that went down had really stupid employees that hardly could code a page without visual BASIC-like ASP. This resulted in thousands of really bad webpages that prevented anyone not using Internet Exploder from entering.
As a result lots of people stayed away from those sites, and the company didn't make any money.:-P
...and it didn't work that well with latest WineX release. I failed with the installation, but I'm VERY positive that it'll be able to run once that issue is resolved since it appears to be using OpenGL.
The game looks REALLY great anyway, still faithful to the old concept but with clean beautiful graphics!
I think this is a huge step forward. Many people that are tired of windows tell me they now want to try Linux.
I myself subscribed to WineX and everything is working GREAT. I know several friends who also are interested in either the Mandrake Gaming edition or the WineX subscribtion. I'm pretty sure Transgaming are gonna make money pretty soon.
And for Loki it doesn't have to mean bad times. When interest for Linux gaming is greater they'll get deals to port games to a native environment.
I love the Aqua interface and am running Xfree86 with Enlightment and different themes to produce the same interface. It's really nice, and looks like the original.
Check out this screenshot.

I have successfully switched from Windows 2000 to Mandrake Linux 8.1 at work. All I need from the Windows environment can be done with open source utils. This includes OpenOffice, gnome-spreadsheet, kmail (really good for multiple IMAP accounts, better than evolution) samba and nautilus and a bunch more I can't remember.
And if I REALLY need to get into windows there's no need to reboot. Double click the VMWare icon and load the suspended image file of Windows. No more than four seconds and I can do whatever I need to do in Windows. The only thing that's still problematic is integrating samba browsing in Nautilus in a good way. KDE is of course a good alternative, but personally I don't like that environment.
I use Windowmaker and the Gnome panel. It looks gorgious and is a fast and stable environment to work in. Screenshot at http://130.235.187.218/~ciryon/screenshots
But I still want the same technological eye candy as in Mac OS X or even in Win XP. I love the anti aliasing and alpha blending. I heard somewhere that the entire OpenGL desktop is OpenGL accelerated. That seems cool as well.
I put my hope to Enlightenment 17 whenever it's more stable.
I agree completely. I've had over 16 000 attacks on my box and it abviously taking a lot of bandwidth. My ISP (University really) is shutting down lot's of computers as a result of the Nimba worm.
If people are so stupid they run IIS (it's forgivable to forget to patch it once a day) they deserve punishment.
I hope this makes people swtich from both IIS and Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP as a server platform.
I downloaded the demo when it was released and, wow, the game sucks big time. Graphically it looks like one of those really bad RTS games that came and some years ago to follow Command and Conquers and Warcrafts success. The interface and feel is not much better.
So, now there is a commercial Linux RTS. But what does it help, when it's soo bad?
This is really cool, but I think I'll stick with Apple's Airport. Don't need to configure that much, plus I like the design. :-)

We're not that few. Can't understand why people like you want to stick around with something that clearly sucks.

I've always prefered UT when it comes to good First Person Shooters.
I'm really hoping for Mac and Linux versions of this game. I don't use Windows.

I can't find Mandrake RPMS on the site and am having problems building the source. Anyone know if there are any Mandrake packages somewhere?

Bwahahahaha..."Operating System: MSN Companion which provides content and Internet Access through MSN"... this is sooo silly.
But I bet you'll be able to put Linux in it.
Ciryon
Yes, Linux don't care how you communicate. Make just sure you got a /dev/ircomm0

Evolution is actually a very nice app and I use it at home, mainly because of the nice conduits avaliable for Palm synching.
I hope it's finaly a stable program now, cause it had lot's of nasty bugs.

I hope everyone puts it up their webpages. I'd like to see Apple sending those letters to everyone.
I love the Apple software, but hate the way they act. We've seen this kind of behaveour several times now in different issues.

Virus, now you cna get them in both your e-mail and your snail mail.
What about some antivirus checker for your snail mail?

I agree that Windows XP has a nice GUI. But Linux outshines all previous versions of Windows.
Still my Linux desktop looks a lot better than XP's default one.
People come into my room and are amazed when they look at my screen.
