Hmmmph... Back in my day, you had to walk fifteen miles to draw a pixel! Through a raging snowstorm! Uphill! Both ways!
And we didn't have no fancy "graphics cards" neither. No, we had to draw each pixel by hand! We were luckly to get frame rates of 3 per day! And we were glad to have them, too! </OLD-GEEZER>
ATM ate mine when it NSF'ed (Non-sufficient funds). It was an ATM attached to a bank (but not *my* bank). I had to get a new card (It was a regular Visa, too... doubled as an ATM card) Bloody splitters.
I didn't vote for the Governator. However, it seems that while he got elected pretty much on star power alone, he's putting that power to good use, trying to deal with the budget deadlock in Sacramento. Someone like Arnold (with huge public recognition) may be the only one who can get the Legislature to do something.
Whether or not you liked Props 57 and 58, he put his own personal prestige on the line campaigning for them (and doing the ads in person), unlike most politicos would say, "Yeah, I support it", but not do anything for the campaign.
You have to admit the ads with Arnold and Westley (who is a Dem) were very effective.
The major point about this I would mention is that it's necessary to provide some means of financial reward to creators so they can create at will instead of being compelled to take regular jobs. That way, truly talented creators will be able to do so full-time if desired, and other people who are either not as interested or not as talented could still receive something to encourage them to produce.
I see, so there's still a financial incentive for Elvis to produce music? Kind of useless since he's dead, but his stuff won't go PD until 2050 or so.
<RANT type="favorite"> Then there's programs that, because of sloppy/lazy coding, insist on being run as Admin on NT/2K/XP. Two that come to mind immediately are Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 15 and The Sims.
There is absolutely NO REASON WHATSOEVER for a typing tutor to require Admin, nor should there really be any for the Sims. AFAICT, they both write to the installation directory and HKLM instead of the user's "Application Data" and HKCU.
The "ancient net history" was a reference to anon.penet.fi. I believe the operator shut it down voluntarily, as he was being harassed by both the government and the $cientologi$t$.
I think that Alexander aimed more for a juvenile audience, and Prydain is a bit more action oriented (though Taran Wanderer is very introspective), whereas LeGuin was aiming at a more adult audience, hence your attraction to Taran's journey rather than Ged's.
My daughter is allergic (as in "drop dead allergic", not as in "itchy itchy allergic") to nuts (tree nuts -- walnuts, cashews, pecans, etc...), but not to peanuts (which, as the parent notes, are legumes). So, if I look at a jar of peanuts, I need to know if it's been processed on the same equipments as tree nuts (aka "nuts"), so that I won't buy it and give it to my daughter.
I'm assuming you were at Kwaj? I think they do Star Wars out there now.

Saturn I wasn't a lunar ship.
The Saturn V's fueled weight was about 3000 tons (6 million pounds).
And the Department of Redundancy Department strikes again!
"ATM Machine".
I'm in the USA (CA to be specific) and I remember those. They pivoted like that for 2 reasons, IIRC.
1.) handle different height customers
2.) Glare control.
The very earliest ATMs (the earliest I remember is late '70s -- United California Bank, which later became First Interstate) had those.
Not only that, but they had "hours". They weren't 24/7, but something like 10AM-10PM.

For those of you who aren't in Los Angeles... The "South Bay" is the southern part of Los Angeles: The Redondo Beach/San Pedro/Long Beach area.
You sued WHO???? Don't you know that they have nukes?
They will lobby the FCC to find AudioLunchbox to be profane and have it shut down.
Well, if we go by my definition, I find said FCC ruling to be grossly offensive, as it clearly violates the constitution!

Vinyl standards. One of the few things that the RIAA did that was worthwhile. (OK, I know... it was needle standards, to be precise).

I dunno....I mean, you can run 'nym' servers..and I've never heard of anyone getting leaned on
It's ancient net.history now, alas. But remember anon.penet.fi
He was probably using PC-DOS 3.0. (Introduced with the AT).
DOS 3.3 was introduced with the PS/2 series.
He did have one, but Darl lured him away with SCOX stock options.

Did that back in the DOS day... but wasn't a screen saver...
However, it was a reg'lar console app (put the system into 40x25 mode for big letters), and it saw the mouse, too!
The kids loved it!
Dude, she'll figure out when she sees your computer with the new monitor... Or were you going to hide it in the closet whenever she shows up?
And what about Oxygen Dihidryide?
Yep. That's incredibly necessary.

Didn't find much, but LOCKYER 2006 got $500 from ASCAP (and interestingly $1000 from Intuit).
WTF are you talking about? In 1991, Iraq had the world's fourth largest army, on the order of 1.5Million men. They had a 3-1 numerical advantage.
