Wedding dress was about $200, iirc. I didn't pay it, so I don't consider it part of the "wedding" costs that came out of my pocket.
On the other hand, I made an agreement with her. I'd pay for the wedding; she pays for the cruise afterwards. It all works out good!
p.s. You can save a bundle by catering the reception with covered dishes (have each invitee bring something....) The hall was only 500$ total for the wedding and reception. The catering was what bit hardest....
2000$ - Gazebo (sp?) and reception hall, including catering for 65 guests. 250$ - Cake 350$ - DJ 850$ - Pictures 500$ - Wedding Bands 150$ - Ordained Minister 650$ - Flowers
We still have to get wine for the reception, as well as dole out money for the rehearsal dinner. But other than that, it's under 5k - and you can even cut things that we didn't, like use silk flowers for 250$ instead of $650... etc....
There are other little expenses I didn't include. Like the invitations - we made them ourselves, probably to the tune of 100$ or so in paper/ink/stamps/envelopes etc...
So yea, maybe I'll come in at 6k once it's all said and done. But you can do it for under 5. All you really need to do to get it under 5 is to have a smaller "party"....
I used to hear horror stories about the "glue" leaking onto the real tape. Then hilarity ensues as the glue gets on the heads (at high speed no less) and then rips the tape to shreds.
I've fixed a few mangled tapes, mainly by making them into "2". Of course, these were always other people's tapes - back when the "full-sized" VHS camcorders were in season. Just splice the second part into a different tape starting with the leader and mangle a VCR to FF the tape in. An even better trick is to take apart the mechanism and toss the correct voltage to the drive motor for the mechanism. Since most VCR's use a floating gear assy to drive the hubs, just adding power to that assembly will cause it to fast forward (or rewind... watch your polarity).
I just priced one the other day. it was about 500$ for all components included.
50$ mobo 50$ case+PS (don't need a high capacity PS for this one) 50$ CPU (don't need a real fast one, see below) 50$ RAM (512MB, generic Mushkin or similar) 60$ DVD-Burner (can go cheaper here; figured may as well have the latest burner tho) 30$ Cheapo video card with reasonable SVID out 60$ Cheapo HDD (have storage space on the net.) 100$ PVR-150 (Comp-USA price, lower elsewhere)
This will get you a basic PVR for under 500$. The only thing I would do is beef up the HDD and you're up to 500 then (if you don't have a central server; I do already!).
I'm actually thinking about throwing a PVR-150 in the server to do the timed recordings there; then I can use a generic tuner that I already have in my MythTV box. Additionally, I already have a 30GB HDD and a Geforce4 to throw in the box, so that cuts my costs down even a little more.
You could even scrape older parts (P3 or Athlon ~1ghz) together if you're using a PVR-150, since it does all the encoding by itself. Decoding is fairly easy; encoding is kind of rough (even MPEG2 - My 2800+ sits at about 50-60% encoding one stream realtime of MPEG2 640x480 + Mpeg Layer3 audio)
First off, you do have a contract with the electric company. Second off, for a majority of people in the US, there is ONLY ONE ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER. So no, they can't just shut off your electric. Heck, they're even nice to you if you can't pay for different reasons.
Google may be relied upon by businesses and other service industries, but until a contract is drawn up, you have no right to bitch. If you are a shareholder, you can vote to have this reversed, but I would gather that a majority of the shareholders would probably turn the other cheek.
So yes, google is a "public service", but only by in definition of what they do. They definitely aren't the only game in town, and there's nothing to stop you from looking elsewhere (or starting your own search engine company, for that matter...)
Did I mention they don't charge you a fucking thing when you click "I'm feeling lucky...."?
I had an NEC Multisync about 3 years ago in my job. It was pretty old, but one day (>5 years ago) I noticed in the VERY CENTER, the phosphors didn't light.
Was really weird. Almost like there were 4 electron guns but they never met at that spot.
I called the local hardware tech to come replace it, and he laughed at me. I told him it was annoying, but he still wouldn't replace it. Finally, a brownout took it out:)
You've got me curious.
What in the hell does a gay christmas tree look like?
" Maybe so, but sex using a preservative was indeed "invented" for recreational use, as it has few other uses."
Using a preservative? Is that like covering your body in Smuckers?
I'm having a hard time picturing that.
My tux was free.

850$ - Pictures

You and I must have missed that part of the EULA.
Man, you can't even copy and paste correctly.
Maybe you need a dual core athlon to do that...?
Depends on the quality of "tape" used to splice.
:)

Wow. That was too long-winded
I just have one thing to say:
FarCry rocks.
That said, I'm usually the deathmatch shoot-kill-die-shoot kinda person. But this game has me addicted.
transparent sticky tape to put snapped or tangle-fixed tape back together
I'm impressed you haven't ruined the heads on the VCR by doing that...
Of course, like you said, it degrades more gracefully, and what does it matter if the kids watch a movie with some snow in it every now and again?
A friend of mine, taking an advanced math course in EE wrote down the simple answer:
"Zorro was here"
Primarily because he didn't know what to do to finish out the problem.
Turns out, the answer was "0" - the prof gave him 3/4 credit for the answer, but marked in red "But where is your work?"
Laughed about that one for a while. I think he even chatted with the prof about it - he was amused.
I've got a weird question then:
What happens if you fill a "Music CD-R" up with MP3's?
Does that count too?
Boy, I could make a "copy" of all of the music I have (mostly legit, some not) onto this media and then the RIAA could go pound sand... right?
Dell Cow?
Moo.
Oh, Gateway!
Geesh....
Make it more realistic (I just used you=un, moron=pw).
:)
I tried to tap enter after putting in the user/PW pair, but it doesn't "log you in" then...
Why's that? Are you sure you're not hiding anything? *snicker*
Holy heck.

Your luggage is 1-2-3-4-5.
Thanks, have a nice day...
I didn't see that jj said "school is useless" in this interview.
It plainly states in the interview --> "Actually...I haven't attended university. I quit high school to work in the computer industry. "
I can see how you read into that, but you're possibly incorrect.
do I doubly backup.
So you record in doubly? (see: Spinal Tap)
Then you would be afraid of... hmmm... white flags?
that they might in a real duel.
I don't know about you, but I'd be more worried about getting a gun in my face nowadays than a fencer's foil.
*sigh*

po'
Come on, man! If you can't afford the o and the r, why are you splurging on an apostrophe?
Think of the children!
Wal-Mart has a talking desk?
I always thought it was a talking brick wall. At least it usually is like talking to one.....
On the other hand, the "road test" for this license would be memorable.
