They've got a license to print money, for the time being. It would have been nice to have an answer to my question about what they would have done differently, but I suspect anyone that knows is NDA'ed out the ass.
World of Warcraft was a rare treat for me: It's the first MMORPG I've played, and I got into the industry last year working on a MMORPG that'll be out next year. It's nice to see what works and what doesn't while having some power to make a potentially better game.
I suspect they really wish they could have ramped up for the number of players better and faster. That may be a limit imposed by their suppliers of server and network hardware. Sure, they're the biggest game, but how many players they lost because their realms were overloaded is open to speculation. I suspect their numbers will fade in a year or so, depending on what they can do to keep people interested and what the competition is like.
It's all well and good to insult Blizzard for their czarist relationship with their players, but realize that their are things to learn from them anyhow.
Lighter fluid will make most paper types transparent for a few minutes, and evaporates with no residue. It also doesn't smear ink or attract condensation.
If you have a book cover or something paper that's become smudged, this stuff'll let you wipe it right off. Works really well for adhesive labels, too.
Yeah. It really would have been more accurate of me to say largest in terms of a combination of number of subscribers, number of markets where it has a big presence, and potential for future growth.
It's the biggest MMORPG to date in terms of number of subscribers. It's easy to guess that you've encountered challenges due to scale that no other developer has before.
Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently, and when?
You're right. I was being far too simplistic. I just objected to the use of the words 'inspired' and 'exciting' without any definition of what such vague terms were supposed to mean in this context.
They tried something like this five or so years ago, and met with little success. I don't think they'll have much luck trying to dislodge Photoshop from it's current position this time, either.
They might have a little luck going after Photoshop Elements users, but I doubt it.
Adobe would need to really screw up for a solid decade like Quark did for a competing product to have much of a chance in the marketplace. The economics of software for use by professionals is very different from that of that for entertainment and for hobbyists. Sure, Photoshop CS might be $700 and this product might be $100 and a little better. However, if the time of the user is expensive and/or in short supply there's not going to be any real drive to switch.
It seems like a solution in search of a problem, to me. I guess Microsoft is just hedging their bets.
There are a lot of assumptions in this approach, which can easily lead to errors in thinking that make the process of finding someone much more difficult:
1. Thinking of 'women' as a monolithic entity. Their values and needs a diverse as that of any male. Be patient, and don't allow yourself to become either bitter or desperate. It's the emotional equivalent of leprosy. Don't give in to it.
2. You really should be thinking in terms of what YOU want, and how to get it. Ask yourself some hard questions about what you really want and why as part of this. Self-deception is wasted energy. What sort of person are you really after? We see this endless stream of leather anorexics with fake tits and fake personalities paraded as some sort of icon, but they're image is just another consumer product.
3. You are not a peer group. You are an individual. Listen to your friends and family, but think for yourself.
4.Quiet girls/quiet guys are the greatest untapped resource ever! Still waters run deep.
The biggest advantage of the format is because you get the image without the white balance adjusted you can push a maginal shot more in terms of color balance and/or contrast without getting horrible banding.

Mononoke is Nausicaa with wolves instead of bugs.
Tigers Covered in Mud was pretty cool, though.
Is this hypothesis of Intelligent Design either testable or falsible? If not, it's not science.

Just be careful, it's really flammable.
9. People who wonder what the hell they're doing here.
Especially when Google releases well-received products that are "free".
Kinda ruins the business model for everyone else.
What, like free software?
It's probably flamebait because it doesn't reek of Koolaid.

You don't see neurosurgery being pushed as an easy career field to get into in tv commercials, that's how.
Wow, you might need to kick his ass over THE INTERNET!

Oh Merry England, what aspects of your citizens lives *won't* you monitor? You so silly.
'Inspired' and 'Exciting' are bullshit terms that are meaningless in this context. Intuitiveness and consistency makes people more productive.
This is totalitarianism with a capitalist ideal.
It seems individuals don't really own anything that can't be taken away under even the most flimsy pretext.

While this is the old name, this is a totally new game.

Both taste like malted battery acid. Or were you trying to be ironic instead of bigoted?
I could take a dump in the morning and RMS would bitch if my toilet couldn't run Linux.
Just as long as it makes the computing environment better, I'm not sure it really matters.
Additionally, RAW supports 16 bits per channel.

It's a lot like Vonnegut, but cuter. Dunno, I used to love them because all my friends did.
