For me the issue is also the depth of information out there. The postgres online documentation usualy is the only resource. Need an in depth explination on how some part of postgres works, it is really hard to find.
With a book i can browse thru and pick up valuable information "at random", something which is so much harder with online documentation.
Then for me is also the preception. There is a plethora of Oracle resources. it is high profile. i can find thru the vast ammount of literature something that meets my needs.
MySQL is also high profile. lots of resources.
With Postgres when i have been working with it i am struck immediately by the dearth of information. I know from personal experience that it is a powerful database, but the lack of information available, give me an impression on not being professional.

i have to use it for more that email because of work, and i actually am aware of some of this other 'features' besides email. i still find it to be totally unintuative and ikky. i would never use it myself for just an emil client. i might be crazy, but not insane.
notes is the BPOBC (biggest piece of bloated crap) i've seen, and one of the few products i have used where i wanted to use a microsoft product instead (outlook). And now it is coming to linux. Oh joy! This is a step forward?
I remember somewhere around 10 years ago i started seeing 'paper' products in the grocery stores made from cotton. Paper towles, TP that sort of stuff. i thought cool an alternative to wood. Sometime after that NPR did a story on the people who started the company and they talked about how popular the products were and how they were looking to expand, things were looking great. Then like six months later the cotton paper products were no longer available, anywhere. My guess is that the paper product manufacturers got together bought the rights and mothballed the idea?
yes, i know, but i thought it appropriate because the article was about copyrights, not just the beatles and since paul was one of the beatles the connection was there to the beatles reference and therefore also humorous. . . . oh, never mind
i know this is a waste of a post, but the joke is, the Amish shun technology therefore they would be the least effective in researching technology patents.
No, There is just one asshole and he works in Europe Support. it seems that apple service state side and here in europe are two different beasts. i bought my power book in the US but live right now in europe. I sent it in for the know problem of white spots on the display. There was some shipping damage and ES (euro support) refused to take any responsibility for it and refused fix anything stating - paraphrasing - give us $900 or we won't fix it, because the damage was not listed in the original service request. but when i got back to the states, thety fixed it no questions asked.
I was talking to customer service in Ireland complaining about the level of service i was receiving. I had the guy on the phone tell me that he had head the words extortion and blackmail used a lot by people refering to the kind of support from ES.

non standard, but still a word. thanks for showing what an idiot you are.
usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.

it is really absurd the way somepeople are so intollerent and get so bent out of shape by grammer issues. there are alot of people out their that our dyzlexix. i'm one of them. spelling is a chore i try hard to right the correct word, but sometimes i jsut fail. my brain misfires and i don't notice allways that i have ridden soething wrong.
alot of times the important thing is getting the meaning across. god forbid you sould try to lean a foreign language. it's easy to make errors also when someone is trying to write not in there native language.
it's not just for music. it's also an external fierwire harddisk i have a 40GB iPod now, and my powerbook is in for service. so for the time being my iPod is also a temporary back up storage device. for that i think a 60GB, 80GB . . . would be even better
i'm not sure where you get your facts, but the fire bombing of dresden was carried out on the 13th and 14th of frebruary 1945, not "non-stop firebombing of the entire city for weeks straight."
"Is the online documentation not good enough?"
No not really.

i see it occationaly, but it seems to be always when it wakes up from sleep with my usb sandisk memory stick mounted.
i try to remove it before it sleeps, but sometimes i forget.
