What is wrong with me setting my phone to 'Silent' so that when I receive a call only I know about it. Reaching for my phone is no different to reaching for some more popcorn and getting up and leaving to take the call is no different to getting up to take a piss.
Oh and don't stop there. You could also repaint the old lockers that prison grey color and restencil the locker numbers on, just like the original lockers. The kids and the schoolstapo will sense that something has changed but I bet it will take them months to figure it out.
Well in case you didn't notice judgement had already been made by the courts and the verdict was guilty. I don't think anyone is really hanging out to see which way *you* judge.
I think the point they are trying to make is not that they could use Windows XP Embedded as a modular desktop OS but simpoy that it is possible to create a modular desktop OS based on Windows. Since one does not exist *yet* they're showing that Microsoft has one that works on embedded systems and will probably argue that Microsoft could do the same for a desktop OS.
But yes, they do need to let us all in on their API's as well.
His whole argument was about the geographical size of the USA and it's limited neighbors, not the population size. My point still stands, your point is irrelevant to this debate.
If you come up with an argument that's on topic, let me know. I'll be waiting.
To save Alan the time of replying to this post I'll give it a shot.
I think the jey here is compromise, and at the heart of this compromise is the goatie. No it's not a full blown beard, just a mini-beard. Now if your wife is willing to let you grow a goatie you'll experience the following benefits.
1. Eligible for guru understudy status 2. Can participate in emacs vs vi wars but must take the side of emacs 3. Immediate membership into system administrators club but not allowed to touch the clusters 4. Can hack kernel code as long as a 'Big Beard' is looking over your shoulder
So you are trying to tell us that the America-is-the-world attitude comes from simply being a geographically big country with limited neighbours? I don't buy that at all.
Take Australia for example. The country (if you don't include Alaska) is roughly the same size as the USA and it's direct neighbours are the sea life. So, using your environment theory, that would make Australians even more we-are-the-world than American's. But they don't think like that.
I think your theory just got blown out of the water. Oh yeah, and Australia is the island/nation/continent in the South Pacific, not to be confused with Austria, a land-locked European nation.
I have found SGI's documentation to be pretty good, bordering on great actually. And if ever it was not enough I just do the usual thing and hit the newsgroups for an example.
Personally, I would recommend making the STL your friend. Once you get to know him he'll be a great help.
In anticipation of all the posts regarding the stupidity of charging for the code here's another site where all they require is a little copyright message in your code - Dynamic Drive.
My experience is just as bad. ALL incoming emails are printed out and then once or twice a day they are manually distributed. Of course we've already read the email and most of the time the email ends up in the bin. This is from the 'office manager' who is trying to save money by having us print to a Xerox fax/printer/copier because it is something like 0.1 cents cheaper than the HP Laserjet we have. Needless to say we usually end up printing to the Laserjet since the Xerox goes down all the time.
Good point. However the original post mentioned artist making money by way of special events and collectables. Now I assumed from that that he was reffering to only 'popular' artists or mainstream artist, you know, the big boys and girls in music. And from their point of view royalties are the way.
Another point though, and it follows on from yours, is that it seems that artist are willing to release their music for 'free' in order to get picked up by recording companies so that they can get on the royalties bandwagon.
Excuse me? Do you instantly get modded up if you mention some sort of open license be it the GPL or this OAL?
Is this guy serious? Does he think that artist will sacrifice royalties and instead try to make a living by being on the road for all the months of the year that they aren't in the studio. Sorry I just don't see this happening at all for one major reason: royalties mean that a few months of work in the studio will continue to pay for years to come. It has worked for ages and will continue to work.
Mod me down if you must but I just though a bit of common sense needed to be thrown in.
Is there any *real* free email forwarding for life accounts out there anymore? Mail.com did a 180 on my earlier this year so I switched to yahoo.com and now, just when I've finally told everyone my new 'for life' email address it becomes useless to me.
Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has said it's unrealistic to think that Microsoft could come up with multiple Windows versions that work equally well.
For once I agree with Ballmer... however I'm still not going to stand up, never will I give it up for him and I don't love this company.

Sorry, I only read the headline and thought it was about the cultural damage cause by Elvis' exploding weight and ultimately his death. Would probably have made for a more interesting read.
In an attempt to get hits on his website and a story on/., Joe Bloggs ripped the guts out of his new iMac and managed to hammer in an x86 system. He claimed this has been the most adventurous case mod yet. Others are not convinced.
"This isn't a case mod, sure he had to cut some holes and stuff, but basically he just ruined a perfectly good iMac. Shouldn't he be shot?" said one reader.
Another reader pointed out that throwing a 350 Chev into a Ford is not really modifying the look of the Ford. He did say however, "It would shock the pants of people when it actually displays some grunt, that is until the suspension goes."
I believe that the PS2 out sold the XBox 4 to 1 last month and uncomfirmed reports that even the PS1 out sold it.

Before you have a go at someone else's grammar make sure you can construct a meaningful sentence yourself.

> Oops! I did it again. I just described how to do something that probably infringes a dozen patents worldwide.
Not only that but you also quoted a Britney Spears song, a copyright infringement.

Steve Ballmer?
... what a shame.
That would be equivalent to sending up a monkey only I doubt there would be enough room for him to dance
...then why weren't they used.
Sniper 1: I have a clear shot at Nicholas Cage, should I take the shot.
Swat Cmdr: Fire at will.
*two shots are heard and Nicholas Cage and Will Smith fall dead*
Oh well, 1 out of 2 ain't bad.

Am I understanding this right? You're a geek, you have a girlfriend and you risk losing this rare situation by trauling for pr0n?

That's fine as long as you don't expect any guaranteed placement in search results.
Think long and hard before doing that cause you're warranty probably won't cover that.
