$12,000 for a car that I can't really put anything but two people in? I'd be interested in buying one as a second vehicle for the daily commute to work for, say, $5,000-$8,000; but for anything but the commute to work, it would be worthless (camping, hauling mountain bikes and all of the associated gear, etc). It would be nice to save gas, with my subie wrx only getting ~20mpg though. Bring down the price, and the car can probably sell well to single folks who need a nice commuter to go to work with each day.
And also know what kind of underwear they are wearing (clothing retailers seem to love this technology). Seriously, though, what is stopping Victoria's Secret from knowing that you are wearing a competitor's brand? Better yet, with the 'cookie' feature, they can tell how many times you have been to the store and bought/not bought something. Not cool.
Or put an apache server with mod_proxy and mod_security in front of your IIS servers, and take care of this problem there. Or even do it with mod_rewrite instead of mod_security.
We used to do "urban assault" night rides on our mountain bikes through town in the fall when it got dark early (fully equipped with 45+ watts of lighting a piece, of course). Apparently the cops wanted to catch us horrible threats to society, so they talked to the local bike shop owner to teach them how to do some technical riding. Of course, that shop owner was the one organizing the urban assaults. The post above about hiring the war drivers reminded me of that:)
Even if it were to apply to cookies, I think that a message on your pages stating that you use cookies, and what they are used for should be sufficient to keep your web pages from being considered "spyware". Of course, IANAL, so what do I know.
The best people in the field I have ever worked with do not have degrees specifically in computers. Liberal arts minors, with a technical or hard science major (ie, the main guy I work with has a degree in physics). Personally, my degree is in Aerospace Engineering. Given a choice of resumes, I'll take somebody who is self taught and can write well and think logically over a CS degree every time. This field is about adaptation. "training" in a specific platform/os/language or a 'degree' in programming are worthless.
If you cannot function without internet access for awhile, you really need to get some balance in your life. Ride a bike, go for a hike, grab lunch with friends, clean your house, cook your own dinner, etc.
You should be able to lose one of your favorite activities and not go insane. If so, you have a problem, no matter what the activity.
Personally, I recommend mountain biking for a daily outlet. Skydiving is a cool way to make a lot of friends too.
It scales just fine. We are using it in comination with Mimedefang's multiplexor here. Mimedefang is great, since you can totally reject stuff that fails basic tests without having to even bother invoking your spam filters.
We have 3 linux dual-processor mail servers, and have basically maxed them out with memory so that we can use ramdisks for Mimedefang processing. CPU Utilization is currently <10%.
Some stats from yesterday:
Spam stats: Total Mail In and out: 39320 Processed by MimeDefang: 24210 Spam: 1519 Non-spam: 22691
There's a bug with it (in linux at least), though. If you have something in your selection buffer, as soon as you release the mouse in autoscroll, you end up bouncing (or trying to be bounced if the cut buffer is not a URI) to whatever site was in the cut buffer.
nowadays, most linux distros ship with most services disabled by default, with the option of enabling iptables as part of the install. True, there could be a daemon that could propagate a worm, but it is not as likely to be running on an end user workstation.
Compare this to windows, which has no easy way to disable dcom, rpc, and such.
Interesting, I just read of something similar happening in the demoscene yesterday when I decided to rebuild my old mod collection. Apparently there was some guy who was performing purple motion's (future crew) old stuff, and selling it as his own.
I use VBR with LAME for the best of both worlds, using the --r3mix option. It's been a long time since I read up on it, but is --r3mix a better option, or should I be using --alt-preset extreme or --alt-preset insane?
You are talking about digital format technology, not "music" technology. By the title, I'd expect to see something about how instruments and such are changing.
What an ugly bastard. I wonder what Debbie and Laura in Bay Village look like.

considering how easy it is to rewrite RFID information, as demonstrated at defcon this year.
umm. GreenPeace makes GreenPeace look bad.

I know that my (ex) orthoedic surgeon did not lock his down. One of a few reasons I do not give them my business any longer.

Interesting, as winxp will blissfully associate automatically with any open AP it sees.

Maybe cars are the first step to skynet/the matrix

It would be nice if the config window came up at a reasonable size.
This seems like it could be an issue as IM seems like one of the 'killer apps' for smaller computers.

Original 8 Meg IBM Kangaroo here. The big black one. :P

You forgot to add that nickels had pictures of bees on them. "Give me 5 bees for a quarter" I'd say...

yes, but fixing the problems on anything but windows is so much easier.
