Heres a (French) Canadian Company that accepts/recycle anything from computers to printers, etc.
This company usually buys the used parts from companies, but they also accepts donation from people. Im sure you can arrange something (getting some $) if you have a whole batch of Pentium 166 and higher.
Windows disk partitioning is automatic, built into the installation.
No, you have to use fdisk to add and remove partitions. Most (if not all) linux distributions set up your partitions automatically.
Sure, but boot with your Windows NT, 2000 or XP CD: one of the first questions asked is to partition, format, etc. in a fdisk-ish way to handle partitions.
So, if some power company has to offer internet access, is has to be them.
They CAN do it. Even if they eventually offer this service, will it be popular? I dont think so:
1. Other ISPs: There are a few major ISPs here for many years: Bell's Sympatico, Videotron/Cogeco (as you may know it if you're from Quebec) with a nice bunch of customers. When I ask anyone if they are satisfied with whatever major ISP they have business with, they say they are okay with them (since there is no more download caps). So Hydro Quebec will have to offer a service with unlimited monthly download if they want to succeed
2. Cost: as someone else pointed out, we can get a DSL account for cheap (someone mentionned $20?! Where what how?) I personally pay $35 CAN (taxes included), and I think its quite cheap. So Hydro Quebec have to deal with those aggressive prices. If they (Hydro Quebec) have to upgrade/add something to their power network to provide this service, Hydro Quebec will have to pay this upgrade in some way (I live in Quebec and I'm not an Hydro customer at all, but I have heard something on the news about "power fees not going up for the next few years" at Hydro Quebec.) So they have to charge someone/something for that network upgrade.
The big question is HOW they will make profit off this?
The good news: a new, cheaper GFX company bursts on to the scene to challenge Ati and Nvidia dominance.
Is this a good thing? I dont think so.
My point: it would be a real pain for game devloppers to release a bug-free game if there was like 69 companies each having their own chipset (or whatever you call it).
Having Direct3D based versus OpenGL based cards is wrong (from a gamer point of view: "which card should i pick?").
All that diversity makes me think that videogames consoles might have an advantage after all: one set of hardware used, so no need to spend time on porting the game on another "hardware set".
Whats the big deal about ipods with 68 bazillon of gigabytes?!
I get bored of old songs, so there ya go, on a CD. I dont listen to 'em anymore.
I just cleaned up my hard drive two weeks ago and I noticed that there was so much stuff I dont listen to anymore. So if someone say to me "My music folder takes 40Gb.", i'd reply "And how much of that music do you really listen to? Sure, you dot the lastest Celine Dion CD, but do you really listen to it?"
When I take the bus, I bring my Sony player (using MiniDiscs), and 5 of these disks are more than enough for my listening needs.
(FYI, my music folder takes 11Gb on my hard drive, and i didn't start to burn CDs of not-listened mp3s yet. You heard me RIAA, 11Gb.:P)
Media Player Classic - Windows ol' mplayer2.exe on steorids. Reads DVD, too. Tons of options, thats a must.
Foobar2000 - Created by an ex Winamp developper, its main goal is to be minimalistic. Tired of all those players sucking your ressources just for loading/displaying the skin? Try this.
Irfanview, image viewer, already mentionned
dbPowerAmp Music Converter - audio converter. supported: CDa/mp3/wav/ogg/wma, name em all. To convert, just right-click on the file in the file explorer.
PuTTY, of course
SmartFTP - not minimalistic, but quite complete FTP client
Also, I personally use Microsoft WTS Client to connect to my WindowsXP box. Shame on me. Should i switch to VNC? (I liked the sound feature in XP's:/)
First, let's define "chain letter". A chain letter is ANY e-mail that contains instructions to "forward this out to ten of your friends" or "forward this to everyone you know" or anything else of that nature.
Ok, here's the cold hard truth folks. Listen closely. There is no sick kid. There is no company out there willing to give you free clothes. There is no company that is going to give you a free vacation. There is no company out there with a $100 check in their hand waiting for you. The sad truth is, these chain letters are developed by shady fly-by-night internet marketing companies who concoct some big story to get you to play along and send out their chain letter -- they ask you to forward it to your friends and after awhile the e-mail makes it back to them and presto, they've got hundreds of e-mail potential customers and they didn't even have to work for them.
Thats so true... just look at one of these "omfg lol forward that shit" mail from your friends..! There is so much e-mail address that its not even funny. A real goldmine for a spammer.
And I dont do/learn much in there, I already know some/most of the stuff they teach.. so 70% of my time is spent on research (translation:/. ), chatting, and playing Elastomania.
I dont get the "Beowulf clusters" and the "in Soviet Russia" sentences. Can someone explain?
Maybe the BSD is dead too, if theres some kind of inside joke about BSD...
I have the same model (Called "WinTV-GO-FM", "model 128"), and works fine under both Windows and Linux.
I never bought socks in my life so far. I always get at least one pair for christmas or my birthday.
Something way better, my girlfriend gave me a Logitech MX500, yay!
Yea, i did say girlfriend.

Im using Firebird 0.7 (On Windows :X) but it worked okay.
70pmh
70 pico miles/hour? (It will crash anyway, considering its Windows ME (ME = Motorized Edition?))
The real question is: "Holy shit! Canada has Internet!!?"
I actually read Hitler and Yan
Whos Yan anyway?
What instrument? :P
No, lemme guess. A bear came.

Way to go, Handspring.

Q. What Bluetooth protocol and layers are supported by Linux ?
Linux kernel supports core Bluetooth protocols and layers:
Bluetooth Core (HCI device and connection manager)
HCI USB, UART, PCMCIA and VHCI (Virtual HCI) drivers
L2CAP (Reliable datagram protocol)
RFCOMM (Reliable connection oriented streaming protocol)
BNEP (Ethernet Emulation)
SCO (Voice)
And raise the temperature of the room it's in by 50 Celsius.
Old news; my Athlon XP does that.
Anyway, Im looking forward buying a new oven with fans and a copper base. Guess I'll wait for AMD to release something similar to the Pentium V.

On Windows 98: Start, Run: C:\con\con
But my real favourite is when Bill Gaets introduced Windows 98 with the famous USB scanner blue screen.
Heres another site like this, buten francais.
:P
Better yet, this site deletes your e-mail account 24 hours later (up to 8 days), so spammers will get "Error 404 e-mail address not found"
What will it mean to have no new IE till 2008?
Thats good news for Mozilla (and other browsers). Its time to take back the market from Microschnoft. >:)

They already did. Windows ME. ME stands for Mediocre Edition.
