  1. The truth. on Windows Is 'Insecure By Design,' Says Washington Post · · Score: 1

And for those saying they don't trust Microsoft to fix their systems, I have one question: If you don't trust this company, why did you give it your money?

The truth is: no, they didnt paid for the OS. :P

Seriously, still quoted from the article:
Windows XP, by default, provides unrestricted, "administrator" access to a computer. This sounds like a good thing but is not, because any program, worms and viruses included, also has unrestricted access.

It doesnt change a thing - if unpatched, those boxes are STILL subject to be infected. The Blaster worm, for example, was attacking a service which is already running with full SYSTEM rights.

So, that secretary with reduced rights on a Windows machine would have the virus anyways.

I did end-to-end tests on my PC comparing MP3 and Ogg files, and I found out that Ogg files were smaller, and of higher quality, than MP3 files that were equivalently-encoded from the same WAV file.

An Ogg Vorbis file encoded at 64kbps sounds exactly like an MP3 encoded at 128kpbs. Now thats a good point, considering the space restrictions on portable (memory and card based) devices.

If you want to test the sound quality for yourself, heres a page where you can listen to ogg vorbis compared to mp3pro, mp3, wma, and others, all of them compressed at 64kbps. Click here to start comparing.

I used SMS a bit with one friend of mine, and none of us recieved a single SMS spam.

Someone else in this thread said to get rid of the spam from the source, not the destination - I think thats not totally true. Since SMS spam looks like e-mail spam so much, why dont mobile service providers add some software to block SMS spams before they send SMS to the user? Its a bit like Hotmail (or whatever e-mail service) spam filtering.

While im at it, it would be nice to have a spam filtering web interface on your cell provider's website that acts a bit like hotmail custom filters, for example: "If text contains 'free viagra', do not send" and so on.

I switched from a p233 to an athlon 2000+, from 8 to 40gigs, from a voodoo3 to a radeon 8500... and I wont upgrade my PC for the next 4 or 5 years, just like I did with my p233.
