I ran a two node TriBBS board ( 1 14.4K line, and 1 2400 line). I was on FIDOnet, and used to really make my FIDOnet uplink mad, because I would download my mail using my 2400 baud modem, so that my 14.4K would stay up for logging on. I had so many door games. I usually set one up once a week. The only people who knew about it were the people in my high school, but it was a lot of fun!
I think they are working on a way to exploit the lossy compression of mp3 to make music extremely less enjoyable to the person listening to the MP3 version, while a perfect digital copy (such as recording them in an ISO format, or using a CD Burner (Non PC version). I think that the next version of CD Ripping software should read the bits from the CD, and then use a non-lossy compression to compress it down. Kinda like making an ISO image, and then using ZIP on it...
Then you have never been behind a redneck or an old lady who can't figure out a POS terminal. The cashier has to go to the other side of the register, swipe the card for the person, and then tell them to punch in their PIN, then has to wait for authorization, and then hits the yes (confirm/accept/etc.). Then go back to their side of the register, and hand the person their reciept.
How will Intel sell chips if clockless computing is ever successful? They won't be able to double the length of their pipe to "speed up" their chips. I guess we will have to finally develop some fair metric to finally be able to compare chips between product lines....
I believe they should be rebuilt on the same location, and the plaza should be turned into a huge memorial. I would like to see two taller structures (~20-30 stories taller), kinda like we are bigger, and "we aren't going to take your shit".
You are a fscking moron! Just because someone is of a certain race, etc. And lives a moral life doesn't make them a robot.
I guess it is better to run around knocking everyone you can up, while ditching child support, and hanging out in clubs, keeping a dead-end job that barely pays the bills. All this time these type of people blame all of their problems on the rich, and corporate america. As I said fscking moron!!!
All descent server archetectures have something like this. I know Sun boxes, and Digital boxes do. Digital (I still refuse to call them compaq) boxes have a kinda VMSesque command line, I guess they want to stay with their VMS roots.:-)
Does it really matter, we've detonated atomic bombs on our own soil (or under it). Can you imagine the bad effects from those tests, that the government is hiding from us.
All international conflicts should be settled by a battlebots competition. Can you imagine the headlines. "Bio-Hazard is defeated by Ziggo, government of the United States is to be transferred at 12:00 midnight" (End of the free world):-)
I would laugh if they used ROT13 to encrypt the data. Ummm 15 units my a$$, especially after some inventive h4x0r figures out how to put Linux on it.... 320 hours is long enough to store my entire DVD collection...
Even better, sign up admin@monsterhut.com, root@monsterhut.com, sales@monsterhut.com, and info@monsterhut.com up to one of those pr0n mailing lists that doesn't ask for e-mail confirmation. As everyone knows once someone signs you up for one of those, you are instantly on like 50 pr0n mailing lists.:-)
Yeah, if he new they installed the logger. The kicker in this situation was they installed it with out his knowledge....

Thank God Star Desktop Is Gone!!! :-)

I bet the brittish can't wait until this hits dentistry.
Three original TLD's? Which one of these isn't original? .com, .net, .org, .mil, .gov, .edu ....... Sounds like an AOL subscriber.... :-)

What if you produce a gun that is intended for legal use (such as self-defense), and someone kills a bank teller with it... Instant lawsuit.
Just not in my car. Can you imagine getting ripped at a party, and then blowing into the thing, and waiting around for the cops to show up... :-)

Instead of guns, and tanks, etc. Our soldiers could carry light sabers.
With a DSL connection (and some software), you could basically answer your phone from any computer connected to the internet.

A DP 4000, and it runs just fine.... I do have 160MB of RAM in it though. The stock 32MB made it run slow as hell!
I have a Compaq Deskpro, and Solaris x86 has no problem with the NIC that came with it. It is a Compaq Netelligent.
Has anyone thought if bluetooth actually takes off, how cool this would be? We could have the WWWW and the W4c (Wireless World Wide Web). :-)
I do my best work when I've been drinking. Especially when it comes to computers..... :-)
