In addition, he said, Apple's previous operating system, Mac OS 9, had a reputation for instability that was still around, despite the newer Mac OS X's strong stability record.
They're almost as bad as the people who still can't stop talking about how bad Windows ME was. And did we mention that we're holding off on Vista because Microsoft Bob had a reputation for being CPU-intensive?
If you're going to hold a grudge, why not go back a decade when you're already halfway there?
Wow.. did I just get modded "troll" because I said something positive about Microsoft?
I'd guess it was because MiniMsft's blog article was full of comments by coders reporting that the automation software in use at Microsoft is buggy on all levels and makes submitting code a nightmare. "Great" and "brilliant" come across as trollish when actual employees say the automation drive is simply a management pet project which, while it sounds like a move toward quality, ends up screwing them.
I was very happy with Sony Clies, and the company stopped making them. (Why do they insist on killing their best tech?) Then I dropped mine. I happened to have a plan that had it replaced, but I decided to upgrade. To get another Clie, I spent an insane week on eBay trying to get an NX80v. It's almost 3 years old, but nothing on the market has all its features. After seeing several go for over $300, I settled on a new Palm T|X for $250. Similar specs to the NX80, but no camera, and I constantly used the camera in my Clie TJ27. Also no keyboard.
A bigger concern is that if they stop making Palm devices altogether, we're stuck with Windows.
If only they'd taken it earlier instead of spinning their wheels with Copland for so long. We could have been using Tiger years ago, skipping so many of those OS 8 and 9 problems...
You could write a virus for a Mac, or for *nix, but why? If you really wanna mess with people, you mess with as many as possible, so you write a virus for Windows.
I disagree.
I can't be the only one who thinks that if I were someone looking to do some damage with code, Windows wouldn't necessarily be my first choice. The victim might be fifty times the size of the next target on the list, but it's also a crowded field. The writer of the next brilliantly malicious work for Windows gets his fifteen minutes, then is relegated to a long, well-established list. Was it worse than Sasser? Maybe not, but what about SoBig? And did it have half the creativity of that scroll-bar app dropper? No one is surprised at a new exploit; they mop up and go on with things. Been there before. Reinstall. Back to work.
At some point, you're no longer beating the dead horse so much as playing with horse soup.
On the other hand, when (if) OS X gets its first major worm, people are going to freak.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me...
John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Etc.
And Christians use "sheep" in exactly the same context as heathens do, at least with regards to being a mindless herd. They just see the "problem" as the solution.
Last time I flew to London with my PSP, PSPWare managed to fill it with five episodes of Chappelle's Show, three BSG and a couple Land of the Lost on my one gig memory stick. Not quite the 10 hours/gig estimate, but not bad,
Quality wasn't awesome, but it was definitely watchable.
If Apple releases the video Ipod with any decent capacity (even 4 gigs of flash memory (because hd+color=35 minutes of bettery life)), there could be room for whole seasons of shows.
Not only was the phrase so overused as to be now meaningless (or relegated to irony), but networked computers running apps located on a server is hardly a fundamental change in the computing model.
Sometimes books aren't practical. Reading a hardcover on the subway, with sharp corners on the book and sharp turns in the track, is an exercise in arousing hatred. My Clie lets me keep one hand on the pole at all times. No falling down while flipping pages! It also takes up much less space during rush hour.
Last week I broke both your legs and took your thumb.
This week I just bloodied your nose.
That's an improvement unless you're a lazy perfumer.

There's a fascinating video from Bungie out there somewhere...
Is this the one? If no, it's still got some pretty interesting commentary.

I'm so sick of people bringing up Xerox Alto to zing Apple.

It's funny 'cause it's true!
First, it looks as tho CNET's not been following the news lately. They're asking for trouble there with the white guy winning...
Second, what's all this about the United Mining Companies Police in an article about PDAs?
Wait... I get it. Angus sported a portable computing device...

You're not right in the head, and nor am I
And this why
This is why I like you, I like you, I like you
