Paul "The Microsoft's Whipping Boy" Thurrott sez: "Hide The Truth, Here Comes Leander Kahney Leander Kahney is a reporter for Wired News. I've been doing a little research into him lately, after being hugely disappointed with his book "Cult of Mac," which is a collection of his Mac-oriented Wired articles. The problem? Kahney's not into facts. Instead, he likes to sprinkle his articles with anecdotal evidence and quotes from a single source, which he then sells as facts. No big deal, right? I mean, that's what most bloggers, tech new aggregator sites, and Mac news sites do too. Sure. But the problem is that Kahney writes for Wired. And thus, he is representing a respected source. That is, people believe this crap."
The masses will ultimately decicde who wins
But then again, the masses could easily be persuaded and influenced.
Most of the time, there will be a winner by default, not necessarily by it's own merrit or quality, etc.
I can only hope that the better system wins.
Be it Blu-Ray or HD-DVD
Then again, I'm leaning against any camps that blindly adopts technology, such as Microsft's.
notice the word "blindly"
didn't see it?
well blindness might be a factor.
All lawsuits against defective products are dropped immediately. Any further lawsuits will be thrown off the court without any prejudice.
Thank You Bill Gates for clarifying the REAL CULPRIT behind all the problems that are plaguing Windows Operating System. . . . . . . . . . Hooray, I made a sarcastic remark, or didn't I?
This one time, I got an email from Citibank I need to veerify my account information!
All I have to do is to click the link with bunch of characters in it, then it loads the seemingly legitimate Citibank website. Then I enterd my account name and password, plus all the other informations. There I veerify my Citibank account using IE.
Meanwhile, Mozilla browser and Mozilla Firefox can't even load the page.
Now, which browser is broken?
Definitely not IE.
By the way, for some strange reason, my Citibank password is no longer working shortly after that.
Yes, if there were only 10% PS2 owners cared about backward compatibility, those 10% are surely the first ones buying PS2 thus, leaving both Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft in the dust.
Let's say that there are 10 Million PS2 Owners, statistically, PS3 is guarranteed to sell 1 million unit when it was released.....providing if SONY can produce enough of them.
I still play my PSone games on the PS2.
That's why I have been using my Macs more than my Windows machines.
Luckily I have access to numerous Windows machines so that I can experiment with all this so called Copy Protected CD's. Well, I could just reinstall Windows, but it'd be a lot more fun to install the copy protection scheme on computers of people that always giving me a hard time here at work. Teach them a lesson for Pirating Musics without sharing them with me!:)
I'll keep you posted, I have yet to try it on the Linux box.
Yes, I listen to Guns N' Roses back in the late 80's and early 90's.
I talked to Duff (the bass player) when he was working with John Taylor (Duran Duran), Steve Jones (The Sex Pistols), and Matt Sorrum on Neurotic Outsiders album.
Yes I also listen to Stone Temple Pilot.
Yes, I've heard of Wasted Youth
But I am not really anticipating anything of Velvet Revolver.
The main reason I bought Velvet Revolver CD is because it was previously reported that the CD would be Copy Protected. I just want to find out if I still can rip them.
As for 200,000+ other people, they love this so called "supergroup"
Well, I ripped the whole CD on my Mac with no problems at all.
Once again, I have yet to try it on the Linux OS. I'll find out about it tomorrow.
If RIAA, SunnComm and BMG found out that Macs can easily bypass their "security" feature, they might "try" to make this protection scheme to work on the Mac.
Maybe they don't care too much about Macs and Mac users, because there are only a "handfull" of them compared to the Windows-mongers.
"Dear Apple, please keep your installed base lower than 5% so RIAA and record companies would leave us alone. Let them chase after Windows users. Thank You."
You can hold shift while inserting/loading the CD. Yes it bypassed the EULA splash screen. Yes you can play it, but it plays like broken MP3's. Skips and skips, just like broken records.
You can rip 'em into the format of your choice on Windows, unfortunately, without getting the "digital key" the rips are unlistenable.
Try it on Mac or Linux!!!!!
I'm having problem with downloading PDF attachments.
For some reason, the PDF files are corrupted when downloaded using ThunderBird 0.7
Anybody else have similar problem?
Paper documentation would be nice. How are you supposed to read PDF files on a CD if you can't even get the system working? Maybe they have to say in the box to use any Windows PC to read the manual before install.
Windows PC is not the only platform/OS that can read PDF!
Linux and Mac can read PDF. So does the PDA's

It's so sluggish on this particular machine. SUSE 9.1 Live CD works better on this particular machine.
Yes I have all the three components. The 5GB iPod was Mac Formatted. I have the latest XPlay iTunes 4.1.1 MacDrive 5.x
So far My iPod is working with no problem at all.
Except now that iTunes for Windows no longer recognized my Mac-Formatted iPod I was able to transfer and mange songs on my 5GB iPod using my Winder$ machine.
Why would anyone would quote Paul Thurrott? Why is this on Slashdot? This is like reading press release from Redmond, Washington.
Anybody mentioned the article form ArsTechnica? They did a hell of abuse on the iPod nano, and it withstood them for a good fight.3
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/
Yeah, why don't Microsoft get a share of PC sales? Wait a minute........ They do??????? That 's just wrong!
I noticed that too.
I have a 1GB iPod shuffle, currently it contains roughly 100 songs.
My iPod shuffle "prefers" playing BAD RELIGION and SLAYER.
I don't know how or why.
Maybe you guys can help me figure this out.
here's the breakdown:
100 tracks (roughly)
40 BAD RELIGION's song
40 SLAYER's song
20 of other bands
THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING that the iPod shuffle prefers playing SLAYER and BAD RELIGION.
HELP!!!!!!!

Honestly, who in the right mind would want to believe Paul Thurrott?
Has Paul Thurrott even realized that he is the Rush Limbaugh of Microsoft?

I just want to post somethinf with Howard Stern on it!
Hey Now!!!!
ClearChannel is an asshole of broadcast industry.
They are anti free speech, paranoid, and anti free enterprise.
XM Radio is like Cable TV, a subscription service.
If they want localized service, more power to them.
Boycott ClearChannel!
Howard Stern RULZ!
I lreally like www.dpreview.com
They have many technical information regarding Digital Cameras.

LOTR:ROTK was not even nominated for Cinematography and Sound Editing.
IMHO this movie (LOTR Trilogy) deserves to win this category.
Instead the movie won "only" 11 categories this year.
$250,000 is chump change to Microsoft.
So why bother asking companies to pay for the licensing fees.
Even if the fees totaled to $100 millions, it's still relatively chump change to Microsoft.
One could wonder if they would use the money for Bill Gates' haircut funds.
Another shocking thing is that many has no password or the default admin password.

NOT AT ALL
Is not really new news when it comes to Microsoft trying to kill its competitions through any mean necessary.
Sure other companies do that too, but the scary thing is that Microsoft CAN DO IT and WILL DO IT.
Where's the FTC when you need them.
