  1. Re:NVIDIA has a problem on 3D Mark 2003 Sparks Controversy · · Score: 1

I plan to get neither. It will be at least a couple more years before games actually begin to use the majority of the features of the nv30 and r300. By then those cards will be old news. Look at doom3, which is designed to take advantage of what the geforce 1 can do. I doubt many people who are into computer gaming still use those.

  2. Re:Well... on 3D Mark 2003 Sparks Controversy · · Score: 1

Thats part of the reason why Nvidia is throwing a hissy fit over 3dmark 2003. It doesn't really test dx9 or ps2.0. The majority of the tests use dx8.1 and ps1.4 along with calls that no games will be using. So it isn't really that good of an indication of what dx9 and ps2.0 is capable of.

Check out this article for an indepth analysis of the situation.

  8. Re:Heinlein Referenced This on ID'ing People By How They Walk · · Score: 2, Informative

Walking style has been used forever by actors to define characters. Depending on which part of the body an actor leads with goes a long way in defining the mood and mannerisms of the character. James Dean/Bruce Lee lead with their hips to show that they were cool and relaxed. While macho actors who look like they are about to attack something tend to lead with their chests/chins. Shy/introverted types tend to lead with the top of their heads.

I wasn't ready for college. I knew I wasn't. I didn't want to apply to any colleges and eventually ended up applying to only one because everyone was pressuring me into going to college.

The result is that I am now massively in debt, I didn't learn a single thing, and I hated the entire expierence of what should have been the best time in my life.

I took a year off, went to a less respectable school and am now learning more and enjoying life more than ever before.

The moral is, if you aren't ready to go - don't go. Take a year off to find out who you are and what you really want to do with your life. Yeah you may not be paying for your education but it is your life. In the long run it will pay off.

To this day my mother refuses to play *any* games because of her Tetris addiction. Tranceport series is probably the best introduction to general electronica you can get. All the tracks are anthems and are readily approachable.

The best that I have heard is Tranceport 3 with Sandra Collins. Her mix isn't all anthems like Oakenfold's original but it is very well mixed and definatly creates a mood. Good stuff.

There was an article a few years ago claiming that if anyone put in around 20 years of focused thought into any one subject they would attain a genius level understanding of that subject. The example they used was of a family of chess players; a few daughters and their dad. The daughters do nothing but play chess and thats it, not sure if they had regular schooling or not, but all were highly ranked chess players.

Universities who know what they are doing really don't teach with MS products (unless you are business majors using VB).

Problem is that isn't always going to be the case and sometimes your employers wants to work with MS products and the people graduating from these schools don't have the expierence of working with MS. So the way they make up for this is to give the product away in the hopes that they will like it enough that they will learn to use it.
