If you read the entire article you'd see he eventually just gets upset and cuts it off. No good prepared questions, just amateur personal anger. Really a fail.
It would be amazingly hard to sue them, so finding pics of someone in another country that will more than likely never see it, is a fairly safe way to go, and zero costs, with little risks.
"It would disable 'non-essential hardware components' and applications on the phone, reduce power to the screen and potentially reduce the phone's processor speed. It also would make it harder to disconnect the call".
That sounds alot like verizons business model for all their phones, emergency or not. Then you just pay more for to get them back.
I'm not a lover or hater of MS, but I know when a article is biased.
Right after the writer says "it's not clear that Microsoft was ordered to make this change, so what made the company decide that US-embargoed countries aren't worthy of Messenger? Why now?".
If it's not clear, why assume they chose? Why say they aren't worthy... clearly MS thought they were for some time. MS gets no good from blocking it, they just want users. Maybe their lawyers had been arguing with the government and finally there was a decision.
Noone knows... which means don't conclude anything. More info needed.
Here's a video chad carter did on the development of this system Chads a trained physicist and a improv actor here in LA... brilliant. I laugh every time.
That's Not Tang: The NASA Urine Recycler took 10 years to develop. Watch the testing videos.
it also doesnt have any enbedded videos, and I cant seem to tell if its a bad install, im not p4rompted for any plugins or missing items.. although there clearly is. It rarely pics of embedded video, ever.
"Why is everyone so obsessed with this terrible idea? Even if we got it to work, there's no way we'd be able to afford the maintenance and energy costs. It just isn't viable."
This guy just copied and pasted his post. I found this same post about plane flight, the space shuttle, the hubble, the mars rover, and the lightbulb.
Seems to work just fine for the olympics. If you just want to see who was the best, then its fine. The interesting bit being it beats both when everyone is so expecting another dissapointment. That actually is news till we see more.
It doesnt hope to be a quantitative comparison. And a certain audience really does care about that... just probably not slashdot.
People around these parts like #'s alot more. dont worry though, #'s will come.
The military is run very much like any other enterprise; cell phones, fax machines, computers, and -printers-. lots of paperwork. a big part of the military is moving data/information, documenting it, getting it in front of people to make decisions. alot of paying bills, aquiring supplies, etc.
anything that helps a business run pretty much helps the military run. the better it is, the more efficient the war machine is.
(although im sure some vets would disagree the paperwork helps anything... haha.. but you get the idea)
In a world where wiretaps, illegal searches, etc are very big issues, how on earth is simply keeping track of public and readily available, likely easily searchable blogs not an obvious choice over the other ways to gather information??
If slashdot had a terrorist corner, id expect the DHS to log in now and again. anything less would be negligent.
P.S. they should post anon. you know, for security.
This is actually pretty cool... and I'll tell you why I feel that way.
If it just worked, I'd be amazed at the results, follow the discoveries. But there's something about it NOT working that reminds me this is the cuttingf edge of the cutting edge. Thi is when the rocket launch explodes on the pad, this is when the systems fail... and it shouts "humanity is working outside its limits, and we're pushing those limits every time we do something like this". I dig it when the REALLY REALLY smart people have issues with something... usually thats very cool stuff.
I should say when they have trouble with 'technical/physics/electronics' kind of stuff. Not with women. We know they have trouble there already.
it's linked in the news article. It was well written, not off topic, and expressed a reasonable concern about the time period students have to get to know the school apparently. It was not "spam" at all.
It sounds like the professors are more butthurt she got their email addresses than interested in responding to the concern she expressed.
They simply should have redirected her appeal to the right people if it was not appropriate to be sent via that email list. Instead they are being punative.
the arguments continued... that Zebulon would bring down a fleet of Vogon constructor ships upon the first ammendment if he should not be pleased.
I posted that weak ass hitchhiker reference just because I was hoping to be one of the first people to say something diparaging without being anon... posting anon coward would be too obvious. perhaps the forums should use the coward moniker..seems to really put people in their place here!
Well that, and Zebulon really made me think of mork from orc...:)
but from what I've seen, they get overturned, brought down to a reasonable level, or end upo being way more than the person can afford... which actually doesnt send a very good statement at all.

Changing the default iphone search back to Google..
There sure will be an app for that.
amen to that. 1979's 'alien' is good, but the 1986 'aliens' is what made my heart thump and want to be a space marine.
GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!
I support this fully... as I am purchasing everything with my new DRM'd money. He can't expect it to stay in his account forever now, can he?

Which is why I'm not looking for a new provider right now.
if it did, I'd be looking up new plans in my area. Thats just rediculous. They are altering and restricting service, with no added benefits anywhere?
The competitors should be advertising that they arent fairpoint as their best marketing campaign ever.

Seems like a simple case...
extract blood
grow clone
compare characteristics
???
justice!
can i add one more bullet?
make raptors!
Yeah, I see the solution so clearly now, Was trying to solve this riddle for years.
'Cheating on your husband' is to 'virgin birth'
as 'drunken emailing' is to 'sleep mailing'.
SOLVED!

The original poster was clearly making a joke by posting it anon. irony is thick and funny in that post.
oddly, this post is informative, but should be moderated as sadly informative.

You just need to point her down at the beaches of Hawaii a few times a year and capture some of the scenery.
can you say gigapixelboobs.com?

On the other hand... screw it, take his kidney.
