Don't think I said I was a linux user. Don't think I said linux users wouldn't have problems. Don't think Matrox's primary concern has been linux. And don't bitch about that, because NONE of the graphics card companies focus very much on linux. If they did, then all you linux gamers wouldn't be running dual-boot win machines;-)
Besides, as was the original point, did Matrox ever tell you that it supported tv out under linux? Um, NO. Actually, has Matrox ever claimed 'Official Support For Linux'? Um, NO. Can you send me a Matrox card package that says that the card supports linux? Um, NO.
So, what was your point and why were you trying to make it here?
1: did you say beta? I think I heard beta...now why were you assuming that beta drivers would do it for you?
2: Matrox has NEVER promoted their current cards as 3D cards, who told you to buy one for gaming? Give them shit, not matrox.
3: From PERSONAL experience, Matrox has traditionally supplied the most stable drivers with the most features RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!! You can go pull an old G400 card off the shelf of some store room, plug it in, install the drivers and it'll be as stable as if you went and downloaded their latest (Obviously you'd have to to get support for the newer OS's but the point is valid)
4: THERE IS ABSULUTELY NOTHING DRIVERS CAN DO TO ADD FUNCTIONALITY THAT DOESN'T ALREADY EXIST IN THE HARDWARE ITSELF!!!
I think you'd find that if you had taken the time to properly inform yourself on your purchase, you would have avoided this problem. I have been using a matrox G450 dual monitor card for over 2 years at work, never once have I wanted to change it and get another card, never once have I had any problems of any sort. At home however, where I do my gaming, you certainly won't find any matrox cards. (A great big stack of various s3, ati and nvidia cards, but nary a matrox in sight.)
In conclusion, please don't slam a very good company for your own failure to be an informed consumer.
Um, you do realize that you cannot perceive framerates over around 32 fps don't you? In other words, you're wasting horsepower running at 100fps and would be way better off running the 16X AA at 35FPS.
The problem is that it's not us, the consumers, that have any control really over what we listen to on the radios, it's the RIAA that PAYS radio stations to play what THEY want us to listen to.
See the point? You're right that no one is owed access to your ears, but the RIAA is paying for it anyways and leaving you with no alternatives. (At least very very few legitimate commercial alternatives)
Selling below cost isn't illegal technically, it's price fixing in a given market that is illegal.
If MS were giving away the XBox, and this resulted in immediately destroying the market for the other consoles, that would be illegal. But there is nothing wrong with selling something at a loss if it's still being sold at a fair market rate.
BTW: the onus of address price fixing falls totally in the laps of the market competitors, so even if Sony and Nintendo felt MS was price fixing, they'd personally have to prove so in court. This is what happened in the Fuji case, Kodak sued and won.
Approx 1000 cd's ripped at a good bitrate far exceeds 10g I tell you. I have 4 removable 20g 7200 rpm hds I use to store my music collection, total probably ~20g left across all 4.
No, he's not complaining about lost sales blah blah etc, he's whining that the other artists are more popular than him on the charts. So what? What's the fucking point? If he's just saying this stuff for absolutely no reason, then he wouldn't have thought it in the first place.
It's just too obvious that he's seriously jealous that he's not on top and basically says that he wishes that the charts would calculate his popularity in such a way as he'd be on the top, regardless of album sales.
This would be alot easier to swallow (same goes for the original artical) if there was ANY data at all to back it up.
Problem is, there is absolutely NONE given, just a bunch of rhetoric about the current commercial success of a couple of other bands. Sounds like he's a wee bit 'green' to me more than anything.
Where does he get the 'Feeling that there are actually twice as many copies of weezer's new album out there than have been paid for'? Anything at all to back this up would be great, but it isn't there.
Can we get some proof that Pink fans all loyally purchase their latest CD? Is it impossible that there are just more fans of Pink now than there are of Moby? Just maybe?
Bottom line is without ANY backing data, this reads like a whiney bitch complaining that the worlds out to get him.

You have a great point, but Adobe is the absolute _worst_ example you could have picked. In this area, Adobe particularly shines. I always look forward to upgrading adobe products since I know that everything I'm used to will still be there, right where it was, but there will be more features available to me if I wish to take the time to find/learn them.
Really surprised you by-passed the all too obvious MS slam here. IMHO, MS is the absolute WORST for this.
Wrong, rtfa please. If you had you'd see that it will NOT make these versions unuseable. Rather, you will just not be able to install the update at all.
Look, the fact that Spiderman beat out SWep2 on their respective opening weekends was pretty much written in stone a couple of weeks ago.
Here's the bottom line:
Spiderman was released into close to HALF of all the theatres in north america, partially because there was nothing else out at the time to compete at all. (The 3 or 4 Mega-Theatre complexes near me had it playing in at LEAST half of their theatres).
Two weeks later, SWep2 is released, but has to be stuffed in alongside Spidey.
In other words, it comes down to simple basic supply-demand. SWep2 just wasn't in enough theaters to generate the same amount of revenue on opening weekend as spiderman. That's it folks.
Really has very little to do with which is better. They're both great flicks and both have high demand. If SWep2 and spidey's release had been reversed, you could likely just swap their opening weekend revenues dollar for dollar.
So, don't get your panties in a bundle that SWep2 didn't make as much as spidey on opening weekend because there was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that it could have. Physically impossible, period.
Don't go to court then, just pay up for the couple of missed licenses.
Sure, they may try to charge you an exorbitant penalty amount, which would be unfair and then you may still end up in court, but then they haven't got a leg to stand on because you tried to comply with their license agreement in good faith as soon as they audited you, but they tried to gouge you.
The Judge isn't going to side with them, they'll then be paying the legal fees and the Judge will likely order them to accept the list price of the missed licenses.
So with that take, is it not ok to be upset about the demise of a corporation? Fully realizing it as such and understanding it as a part of the reality we live in?
Look, if someone feels the loss of HP as it was, just who the hell do you think you are to say that they are 'wrong' or 'stupid' or blah blah whatever. Sorry, but you have absolutely ZERO say in how people _feel_ about things like this, whether you feel the same or not.

Have you tried multi-monitor offerings from ATI and nVidia?
I own latest/greates examples of both and I'm here to personally tell you that it is still very much a Matrox only game, which just had the ante uped.
ATI's and nVidia's feeble attempts at multi-monitor support are a nice try at best, and a total fucking insult at worst.
