I don't know what the fuss is about fuel cells generating water and needing to recharge them. Capture the water and, when you go to recharge them, just pass electricity through it. There is a little known property of water that when electricity is passed through it, hydrogen and oxygen are somehow magically produced. Imagine that. Why doesn't someone incorporate that into a fuel cell?

Where can I get one of the modems for it? The specs state that it is proprietary. I want to get one of these for my family in India. So cheap, small, etc. Make it easy to pack in one of my bags for the trip there.
Does it come with an MP3 player on it? I didn't see it listed on the specifications or in the manual? If not, how can you load one? Isn't it a little beyond the average user to load software on one of these? As I recall, it is a protected system.
"According to recent pipe throughput tests, MicroSoft Windows XP has yet again proven to be better than Linux as it has a considerably lower performance degradation due to increases in pipe block size!"
Just check the numbers!;) Linux drops off considerably after 100,000 while Windows XP just flatlines.
Have they removed the scheduler/calendar option? I don't see it in the list of features. The only reason my office went through the trouble of switching to Star Office was that they supported all the office software including, especially, calendars and scheduling.
Sorry, playing it right now. Love my DSL. I got hundreds of hits searching for the MP3 on the FastTrack network. I'm using the CGI interface to giFT. Works.
My mother has a nice garden at her place. She often grows potatoes. Every year she tries out a few different varieties. One year she grew some that tasted just like they were already buttered. Just sprinkle on some salt and ready to eat! She has also grown several kinds of potatoes that are purple. One even had a cool purple starburst pattern inside that made for some really cool looking potato chips!
Oh, and none of these are genetically altered in any way. They come from South America like this. There are hundreds of varieties of potatoes that we have never seen or tasted.
I even saw a special on one of those really cool cable channels (TLC, Disc, etc. not sure which) that went on for an hour about potatoes. Wow.
Thank you! If I was a moderator, you would get all my mod points!;)
It just bothers me when there is a cool story posted or on the news and you never hear anything else about it. That is what I like about the slashbacks, I just wish we could have more of those types of things in the "normal" media.
I fully understand the predicament of not wanting to take on updating the pages. Been there. Hated it. Documentation is the greatest necessary evil.
Has anyone looked at the dates on the bottoms of the pages? Feb 29 2000, Apr 19 2000, etc. Shows a little something about how quickly this type of thing hits the "normal" media. I'd also like to see an update on this. Where is it today? Where is G3 that was expected to be completed by the end of 2000? Has it been implemented or is it now dead? What would be real news is an implementation, not theory. Modular robots have been covered on Slashdot before. I want to see reality, not theory.
I live in a small town of about 10,000 people in the hills (Grass Valley, CA) and there is absolutely nothing worthwhile hitting here. We have a SWAT force in front of our county buildings and an airplane constantly circling over the city. OK, it is just a twin turbo-prop craft, but that just goes to show how it has affected everyone here.
I agree with you that an AC comment isn't even worth reading, but as he fell to the temptation of an ad-hominem attack, you stooped to stereotyping. I am very right wing and I see myself as trying to vote for and do what is best for the country. My cousin threw a cigarette wrapper on the ground last night and I chewed him out for it. I like my clean streets. I also like a healthy economy. Tax cuts are a very good way of stimulating the economy and, gasp, this is good for everybody! I know quite a few Republicans and few are greedy, self-centered, etc. types. I also know a lot of Democrats. Some of them are the "What can I get from my government?" types. I call that greedy and self centered. Not all Democrats are this way and not all Republicans are either.
Just thought I'd make the point. Overgeneralization is always bad!;)
This is exactly what I want too! The thing is that I do not need any substantial CPU on the device. Long battery life is an absolute must. This device requires hardly any CPU power and very little RAM. All it needs is a VNC client and a wireless network card. VNC servers exist for Linux as well as Windows. It is a stateful snapshot of your interface. You can disconnect and reconnect at the same point later. Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't use much CPU power?
I would like to be able to use the thing in a brighter ambient light than indoors, but I don't need that.
Visual SlickEdit is a great gui based editor and it has multiple editor modes such as vi, emacs, windows, etc., but it is not a RAD environment as the poster might be wanting. However, VSE is incredibly easy to integrate into other programs and components as it has SlickC, a C like macro language that allows you to do pretty much anything you want to. I have personally used it to interface with an external GUI layout program (written by the company I worked for then), which then allowed the RAD like editing of code "behind the buttons" as well as syntax highlighting and project management for a language that isn't very common (Dibol). This could very easily be done for many different editors and the GUI layout tools giving the user a selection to mix and match their layout tool with their favorite editor. You can import your existing libraries into the autocompletion and construct handling routines. Oh, and tech support at SlickEdit is rather good, too.
"Further; Pavlovich knew that his Web site allowed the illegal publishing and distribution of DVDs."
It is prejudicial comments like these made by the judge during the Microsoft trial that got the punishment phase rescinded. Keep it up judges! We might be able to humiliate you in addition to winning!
Looks like some of that is already happening. The Supreme voted unanimously to shove the decision back to the state court. That is a major slap in the face any time that happens!
Just because you live next to a library are you automatically more intelligent? Just because you can, doesn't mean you do. And even if you do, just reading more doesn't make you more intelligent. Take your average polititian for an example. Well read. Dumb as dirt.
My Kenwood drive doesn't actually speed up to the 52x, it uses a laser split into 7 beams so it spins at 1/7th the speed it would otherwise need to in order to get the same speed. This really cuts down on the noise. It has some head noise, but the spin noise is REALLY quiet. I really enjoy that. I also have some generic DVD drive that seems fairly quiet. I just really love my Kenwood.
Before Ansel Adams hit the scene, photography was not considered to be art. It was something unique, but there was no way that it could be considered art. There were many that called it art. The photographers did. The "artists" didn't. What we need is an artist to render his work on computers and it become so popular that they can not help but call it art. Wait, we already have many of these. People just don't know it yet...
Give them time. They will learn. If they don't accept the truth, they will eventually be the outnumbered like we are today.
Many posts are saying that DVD players on Linux have to be an attack on the DMCA and no commercial players exist.
Check out Intervideo for their Linux based player. They don't sell it to consumers, it is an integration package. Expect some distro's to start carrying it some time in the future.
The Amiga was, and still is, an awesome box. The extremely customizable OS and tight integration with the GUI and the CLI made it the most productive, user friendly box I've ever played with. I have several Amigas and love them. Unfortunately I have not been using them much lately as they are a bit behind in things now. It took the better part of a decade for them to fall behind. I just hope that the new OS does justice to all of us Amiga fan(atic)s who have truely enjoyed the OS for years.
If the concept website wasn't already/. ed then I'd be staring at the concept screens instead of writing this lousy comment.
If you saw the full tape of the Rodney King beating, you might have a different thought on it. They did beat him mercilessly, and they went overboard. The problem is that he deserved a good beating for refusing to stay down when they finally got the guy. No, they shouldn't have whacked the guy so bloody hard, but that is why the cops who did this beating are NOT IN JAIL!! They got off with a reprimand because the judge saw the WHOLE TAPE. Our media didn't allow us to see the whole tape as it was more sensational to just show a couple of cops whacking the back of some poor black man's head. They didn't show him resisting arrest.
Sorry, my rant for the day. I just get so fed up with people's uninformed opinions when the reason they are uninformed is because of an intent to deceive by the media.
- Chu Chu Rocket (Dreamcast)
In Bengali, chu chu (spelled differently, of course) means something like "piss". Read your own inference into this one.
