Here's my viewpoint, don't take offense...

You let the supervisor beat you. If you had just continued to be your normal, productive self and just work a little harder on being fairly on-time (is it really that hard?), you'd probably be your supervisor's boss by now. Having a crap boss is just something you have to deal with sometimes in life, and if you want to move up in the world, you have to be the better man. Besides, most companies want their management candidates to be punctual people, and part of a supervisor's performance review is based on their subordinates' punctuality.

If moving up with this company was what you wanted to do, then it sounds like sacrificing 10 minutes of your lunch break was in order. Unless there was an entrenched "buddy system", of which your new sup was involved. In that case, you were right to get out.

Well, if you want a similar system, there's Gnome Office (Abiword, Gnumeric, etc.) I don't think the "separate but equal" approach Mozilla is taking would work for oo.org because, aren't most of its coders and funding coming straight from Sun? Plus their competition is MS Office, so integration is a lot more important for them than Mozilla because THEIR compeition is IE (which IS integrated with it's entire OS, but still), and MAYBE Outlook (see parenthesis) if you want to look at it that way.

But personally, I think oo.org is fine as it is.

Even with a $100 printer, $60 worth of ink cartridges (assuming $35 for the color and $25 for the black) is still cheaper than a new $100 printer. And the cartridges you get are full, not 1/2 full like the ones included with the printer. So in effect, every time you do this, you are paying $100 for $30 worth of printing.

How exactly is this supposed to drive up prices again?

So the console that's lagging behind is going to increase sales by diversifying further into a dying market dominated by two companies (Namco and Sega)? Not to mention the fact that while it's the most powerful console out there, the next gen stuff is less than 2 years away. Unless they can get A) a half a dozen games released B) get them into arcades and C) make them profitable immediately (i.e. development time + shipment + profitability 24 mos), this is only going to lose more money for this department. Sad thing is, development and profitability time is the easy part at this point for MS; they have yet to come out with a SIGNIFICANT number of quality games for the HOME console; this is just going to dilute things further with 2 different areas to develop for.

Go ahead MS, keep flushing money down the toilet muahahahaha!
