The main.cf config file of Postfix. Without the comments it's maybe 30 lines of actual settings. With comments its 540 lines, and it's clear enough that a relative n00b like myself got it up and running in 1 hr with minimal trips to the website. Good documentation was a major factor in my picking Postfix over Sendmail. No dis to Sendmail, you understand.:)
Instead of a "Peek Into European Patent Examining " story, how about a "Peek Into European Panty Examining" story? I would love to find out who "Inspector 12" is.
1. If I buy the tape, and drop in in a fire, that's my right. No one will dispute this. 2. If I can destroy it by fire, I can chop it up, too. 3. Salt Lake City (my home town) is in the news for something besides polygamy. Whoo-hoo!!
This article isn't for us. It is for our bosses, and their bosses, and so on and so on. It is a momentum builder. So the next time you mention Linux, instead of blank stares, your boss will dig into his memory and find a positive image of Linux as a REAL OS, and it will be a little easier to get him/her to go with your suggestion to use our OS of choice. Use this article for what it is, and don't complian about what it isn't.
I hear the MS guys are making a Linux emulator for Win32. It's called Beer 3.2. The reasoning is, Beer is more popular than Wine so it will appeal to a broader user base. Women tend to like Wine better but Men overwhelmingly prefered Beer in product testing. Beer 3.2 is still a beta, and will be released when it's content reaches version 5.0.
I have built 2 MAME machines myself, both out of old cocktail style cabinets. It is my opinion that if you try to build a "do it all" control panel you will be sorely disappointed. The best control panel is one set up like the game you are emulating. It is easier if you like the classics (like I do), because their controls are similar. These monster CPO's do let you play many games, but if you are after the same feel as you remember, here are some pointers:
Keep it simple. Build more than one Control Panel if you have to play lots of games.
Use leaf switch joysticks and buttons. I used micro-switch types in my first CP, and replaced them with leaf style within a week.

I would argue that Linux became mature enough to inspire a vision of replacing Windows and THAT spawned Slashdot. Had Linux never reached that point, Slashdot and the whole "Linux Community" would not exist. That said, I still don't think Linux is a "Desktop for the Masses", but it will get there. RedHat and Mandrake are making great headway in those areas.
I like "tweaking and compiling" open source recipes, but last week I used a string variable when I should have used an array. It looked good to me, but when I ran it through my FPU (Food Processing Unit) I started getting SegFaults and wound up taking a huge core dump.
Newspapers are struggling to keep readers and stay relevant. I see this as a Good Thing. It provides a good service and it's a way to get more eyeballs on their ads, without resorting to charging for internet content, registrations, etc.
The really do have troubles. First, a tornado hit the factory. Then the workers rioted because local taxes are so high. As soon as that got fixed, the earthquake hit. What could possibly happen next, an alien invasion?!?!

Hey, I'm not wasting money and space collecting Atari 2600's and full size arcade games, I am preserving "a value system, mind-boggling inspiration, common language and experience."!
You also get a cue from the degree your eyes are crossed. If you are looking at something far away, your eyes are fairly parallel, close up they are "crossed". Your brain monitors the angle and it helps you guess distance.
I mean, having to journey around, fight Moblins, get the three pieces of the card and THEN assemble it might be more than most consumers are willing to go through.
Man, that box has almost twice the juice of my best box at home. Thank heaven for work, where someone else can foot the bill for my hardware habit. Course, even an underpaid admin like me could scrounge up 400 bones.... if he wasn't married....with 2 kids....and one on the way. *sigh*
with tools. You just need big tools.

India's moon shot will never beat this one. It's an advertising flyer from a 1981 video game called "Moon War".

...single character address. And they have already sold 9 of them. a.tv, b.tv, etc. Only 45.1 million (or so) to go till the profits come rolling in.
...sold them my TV for a lot less than that. I think they got ripped off. I've never even heard of a Tuvalu brand tele.
