they can store as much as 50 terabits per square inch -- equivalent to the entire printed contents of the Library of Congress -- on a single disk drive for a notebook computer.
Is anyone else tired of them constantly using the library of congress as a benchmark? What about using "the sum of all human knoledge"? It would make just as much sense.
So i'm reading/. in a desperate attempt to aviod writing a 5 page paper for engineering ethics class. And then i read this article, and i have a topic.
The original reason why AIM created a free client and a java client is that more users of AIM makes AOL more valuble for their customers. I don't think they ever expected that most of the AIM users wouldn't be AOL subscribers.
IIRC, I think DirecPC does this, and they've fixed their bandwith problem with it. The thing is this: In the case of DirecPC, I'm paying for access and you should be willing to fill my pipe at all times. At the university, the students don't pay for the bandwith (directly anyway).

Wow, that sounds more genuine than the one posted on salon!
I don't like microsoft, but if the linux folks think they can gain anything by making Microsoft look "evil" then they are mistaken. Everyone in the US knows that Microsoft's tactics are more than a little anticompetitive. This sort of thing isn't going to change anyone's mind.
The truth is that Microsoft doesn't care about Linux. It's not a real threat to them yet. You just wait...
Anyone other than me remember how great it was when people started supporting RipScript? That was truely the "flash" in the BBS world, being about to get good graphics to download quickly.
This makes as much sense as moving the computer science school into the college of engineering...
Dog bites man: Not news.
Man bites dog: News.
Meteorite hits girl: Not news.
Girl falls from sky, hits meteorite: Now there's a story!

Thanks Slashdot!
I was also there. I'm the electrical engineer.

Yeah, screw you too. The post deserves a +1 insightful (as opposed to this post which is WAY off-topic).

How long until we have teddys from A.I. running around?
That will never happen because no company is perfect everywhere. As far as the customers should know, your provider has perfect coverage.
Remember though, just becuase there is a tower there doesn't mean it isn't full.
but is he programmed to love?
"This would destroy Windows desktop operating systems as a stable and consistent development platform,"
I'm so scared. I'm going to have nightmares now...
Airbags are intended for the benefit of the consumer. Copyright restrictions are for the betterment of the movie industry. It is not the same.

Did you see the FOX "let's preempt the entire primetime lineup and show family guy" thing last night. That was entertaining.
I've been trying to get that working for a while; I can't find where in the program you turn on said encryption. Do you know?

Watch out for the vogons and their poetry.
Offtopic? There is much to be learned about the universe from Celine Dion's camel toe. Do not dismiss it as offtopic, because it surely is not.
I wonder whether WestWoodOne will allow their talk to go over XM. I can't listen to Don and Mike and it's driving me nuts.
Does anyone have a recommendation for which antenna to use for extended range 802.11?
True dat.
This is off topic, but I once dropped a TI85 out of a moving car at 45mph. It got scratched up, but still works perfectly.
That game pad was so much fun though. I actually broke a sweat several times.
In terms of "cheating", you are still doing a lot more physical activity than you would be sitting motionless.
