    they can store as much as 50 terabits per square inch -- equivalent to the entire printed contents of the Library of Congress -- on a single disk drive for a notebook computer.

    Is anyone else tired of them constantly using the library of congress as a benchmark? What about using "the sum of all human knoledge"? It would make just as much sense.

    The original reason why AIM created a free client and a java client is that more users of AIM makes AOL more valuble for their customers. I don't think they ever expected that most of the AIM users wouldn't be AOL subscribers.

    That will never happen because no company is perfect everywhere. As far as the customers should know, your provider has perfect coverage.

    Remember though, just becuase there is a tower there doesn't mean it isn't full.

    IIRC, I think DirecPC does this, and they've fixed their bandwith problem with it. The thing is this: In the case of DirecPC, I'm paying for access and you should be willing to fill my pipe at all times. At the university, the students don't pay for the bandwith (directly anyway).

    Wow, that sounds more genuine than the one posted on salon!

    I don't like microsoft, but if the linux folks think they can gain anything by making Microsoft look "evil" then they are mistaken. Everyone in the US knows that Microsoft's tactics are more than a little anticompetitive. This sort of thing isn't going to change anyone's mind.

    The truth is that Microsoft doesn't care about Linux. It's not a real threat to them yet. You just wait...

    This is off topic, but I once dropped a TI85 out of a moving car at 45mph. It got scratched up, but still works perfectly.
