'The MPAA has established a nationwide telephone hotline for cinema employees to report violations, and studios and cinemas are also investing in metal detectors and night-vision goggles'
This is crap - The MPAA should be providing these things if they're so hell-bent on preventing piracy. Let them pick up the tab for these things.
Actually, I think the "Name linking" that they're referring to is the feature in the current version of AIM that allows you to basically log onto two names at once (things that programs like DeadAim and AIMutation have been allowing you to do for some time).
So when you log in to your master name, your other name(s) log on as well, at the same time, with seperate lists.
I can't see that being the design - it just screams "break me", with the two ends on the table and the middle in the air - all it takes is someone using it as a stabilizer if they're off-balance and *CRACK* -- your own personal little non-functional Triforce in 3 convenient pieces.
Nintendo hasn't really been one to keep hazards like that in design specs.
All obvious slashdot jokes aside, you could try to find yourself a very largely populated BitTorrent. I'm able to max out my cable connection pretty easily on some of the more popular ones.
It's worth noting that Yahoo! Messenger uses Kakadu's implementation of JPEG2000 in its webcam controls.
For proof, view someone's webcam - then check your %TEMP% directory. You'll see image-[username].jpg files. View them in a JPEG2000 viewer or convert them using Kakadu's tools, and you'll see a frame of the cam you were watching.
Myself, I find attraction to the second girl from the left, crouching down.. and the girl standing up all the way to the right. (So uh.. if either of them are reading Slashdot, and this post right now.. I'm available!;))
Er, America did get Nintendo Power. And perhaps you're speaking of another Sega service, but the first one that came to my mind was the 'Sega Channel'
Our cable company carried it for about a year, quite an interesting little thing - I didn't have a Sega, but a friend in my neighborhood did. It was rather cool to be able to have a fair library available through the cable.
Typically the 'fanny' is just the rear end. Basically a 'fanny pack' is like a small pack work around the waist. Best visual might be if you look at bicyclers, they might have those around their waist to carry small items when they don't have pockets (cash, portable music players, bludgeons (if they're in a professional race))
I had this happen to me, too, and I use Dynu as my MX, and you can set it to auto-forward my mail from there, to a non-standard port on your host (which for me, the first stop is my firewall, so I have my 'non-standard port' port-forwarded to 25 on my mail machine).
It's not free, unfortunately, ($20 a year I think), but the nice thing is that they'll store 100 MB of email if for some reason they can't deliver it to your host - and since my mail is all done off of my cable, and I live in a weird area (My power was out for 8 hours yesterday because of the intense winds we were having (I live in Maryland)), it's a nice solution for me.
Well, you know - it's not really NEWS unless it's posted twice. Any ol' story can go on slashdot.. but it's the REALLY COOL ones that get another round of front-page infamy.
Best C64 game ever. This should be included... except, a keyboard would be needed to write on the blackboards.
Throughout any and every C64 discussion I've ever seen, I've never heard anyone reference this game.. does anyone else know it but me?

Forgive me for not being on the inside of the video card circle here.. but they've announced it an have reference boards available.
How long do these things usually take before an actual consumer-purchasable card (retail? direct?) is available?

Continue through the teaser story - it's revealed what they are -- might wanna stick around one of the flash pages.
Well, it would probably be a nice self-confidence thing to be battling Dracula to 'Can't Touch This' in the background.
Documentation, please. ;)

Actually, that seems that the poster is liable, not Slashdot.
We're on Popageorgio dime, now.
Man, that just gave me images of blowing away the ducks with that Bazooka-like SuperScope 6.
Hunting, military-style.
Well hell, if companies are going to do this I think I'll register the following names (not checked for existence)
.. I'll just start an entertainment center based on freebies from companies' domain "settlements"
sohnee.com
nintendough.com
mycrowsoft.com
They should have left this guy alone. They've just paved the way for more abuse.
I guess that explains the creator's name and how he, himself, was created...
Silly parents.
Looking at the source of the page, it's javascript.
All text in the span id "ws" is white, then JS identifies it and incriments its RGB color.

Two more words (in response to the material to be used) ..... Mollusk Snot
'Good Looking' is extremely relative.

First image I got was a colostomy bag.

Jesus, the least they could do was offer their own... then you could have gotten 6... or 9.. or however many there were amongst the group!
Women are so silly - spending unneccessary money when they're right there!
You and me both, I haven't turned it on since my birthday of last year (Which is in October).
I think what makes it even worse is that there will be a LOT of cleaning to do, ripping weeds up and what not.
Maybe my in-game gift will be a lawnmower.
I've always wanted the JVC GR-HD1US .... Damn sweet.
