Of course, you shouldn't buy a PC just for the games. But it has a lot of other uses - most people (and probably about 99.99% of the/. readers) couldn't live without a PC anyway, so why not use it for games as well?
There tend to be a lot of differences between typical console games and typical PC games. You can create games that works great on the PC because of the mouse (quake, unreal, warcraft, diablo, the sims, etc.) and the keyboard (most RTS games, RPGs), but not so on a console. The PC is also better suited for multiplayer games with 4+ people... well, until Xbox Live arrived anyway;)
Also, it is not true you need to shell out as much for your graphics card as for a console. Most games will work fine with Geforce 2 - which is rather cheap these days. Even UT2003 will run fine on it.
That said, if your favorite pc games are available for the mac as well - just keep the mac.
This picture from the infosync article looks like the Zaurus C300 could be a good replacement for my Revo. I've never liked PDAs that relied on touch screen writing or sliding keyboards, but, unfortunately, the article says that this one won't be available outside Japan. Too bad. There really isn't anything new out today that will make an good revo-replacement to my knowledge, if you want a modern PDA (color, video & mp3 playback, etc.)
"Slutt" is just Norwegian for "end". Yeah, end of the newsbit and end of the top story and so on... you might have noticed the.no in the server address:)
Could some explain to me the meaning of this code name Longhorn? I mean, look at thier logo! Just two redhorns. Maybe they have finally realised who Billy really is.
First line in the submitted timeline: "The following is a timeline for the development of virtual worlds. I welcome more additions to the timeline. Check at the bottom of this for a list of sources."
I don't think he was talking about outlook itself, but rather the emails associated with a specific user. The directory of Outlook Express (C:\Program Files\Outlook Express) only contains 12 files on my system, and non of them are my emails or my address book or anything like it. Same goes for the real outlook, which is found somwhere in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10", a directory with 152 files.
His point is clear. Where does you Outlook save your mails??
This one is also real. Heard about them a few weeks ago... Looks identically (Xtender and Enigmah), except that the Xtender has a flash-upgradeable firmware.
Except that I've found searching in asf-files using Windows Media Player 8.0 to be a lot faster than in previous versions. There are probably other neat features that one would like.
In fact, it was developed for use in with telephones way before someone thought of putting it into video files. Also, MP3 was quite alone back then. What else was there to use?
Sonic the Hedgehog was actually developed for the Super Nintendo some years ago. I've been unable to find any real info on the game, but I've found the rom which works fine on the Zsnes emulator. It's not as nice as the genesis sonic games, and not as fast either.. I wonder if it was made by Sonic Team?

So what? Use the new office with the new windows. Windows XP and 2000 has been out for quite a while, and Office 11 isn't even released yet.
Or Excel Saga. Should be good if you are able to understand the original japanese dubbing.
Well, you can use PHP with GTK as well...

An in Danish for that matter - I don't think it'll have that big an impact though...
> I thought it said Geek Chicks
:(
Ugh, I really thought it said Geek Chicks until you made me re-read the headline
Add Denmark, Norway and Sweden (maybe Finland) to the list as well. Probably most of Europe.
hmm....
It has the Atari label on it as well here in Europe.
I've always been told NT meant New Technology

This is a common mistake. Most people think that Half-Life is based on Quake2, but it really is modified Quake1 source.
sorry, he was using address book as an example, but the point is the same.

No one mentioned wysiwyg yet. You just can't call something that.

heh, re-reading the page I just found, it turns out it's just a hack :)
Nevermind.

I'm afraid that it won't help anything. You make it sound like the majority of Warcraft III buyers are slashdot readers.
Excatly. I don't see a reason why to upgrade since they're nearly the same, except for the eye-candy.
