Nielsen may well be disappointed at the actual execution.
Nielsen may not be, but working for a recently Nielsen acquired company, I'm extremely disappointed in TCS so far. Payroll was outsourced and I hear constant complaints from my local HR guy about screw ups. (There's one thing you DON'T want to screw up..) and as a Sys Admin having to work with the networking "guru" we were assigned has been excruciating. Now because I'm an "IT Product Lead" my job is fairly secure, but it's not going to get any easier having to deal with under qualified workers who are going to leave 2 weeks after you get them trained..
Hell, we've been working for 2 years to get one company assimilated into our IT collective, and doing things according to our standards and they still don't quite have it down... now we have to start over? ughh.
He forgot that jurors don't have to be smarter than the accused - in his case, all they needed was a baloney-meter.
In which case I declare a mistrial! A bolognameter is clearly inadmissible evidence.
Isn't the name Reiser, German? Maybe he was just a Wunderbar fan! (As am I..)
Where I work, we've always had an issue with laptops in the San Francisco office. A lot of coworkers bike to work and they haven't quite got the difference between Stand By, Hibernate, and Shutdown. Lots of times they just close them, shove them in their backup and go. Next thing you know they walking up to the Service Desk, bike helmet in one hand, laptop in the other.
My company starting using a Firebird based Windows application not too long ago. One thing that irked me. You couldn't use the app via Terminal Services because it wouldn't see the database. Granted I could log in via the console to run updates and such, but we had hoped to have multiple users access it via the RDP on the server we ran it on. Fairly easily worked around, but it was kinda a bummer.
I didn't see him say that it was a fortune. He said it was better for his circumstances.
I WAS A die-hard Dark Age of Camelot player, with 2 account. $30 a month. Quick math in my head says I played 180 hours a month. That is about.17 cents an hour. A good entertainment investment.
Going to the movies would get me a whopping 2 hours of entertainment.
When I got to the point where I was playing about 24 hours a month, $30 became a bigger deal to me. I now play Guild Wars too, because of my limited play time, and I feel like I'm not throwing money away.

Not only that, this program benefits China and "the Middle East" according to the site. Sorry, I'm not "down" with a program that caters to communists and terrorists.
and we all know that EVERY middle eastern dweller is a terrorist.. *sigh*
You sure can!

Those counters haven't been reset for at least a month. All the IPs in our dial up pool. Blocking port 25 is a work around, not really the "answer". It's a big help, as you can tell, but I also see signs of zombied PCs in our mail queue, and IDS system. It's not hard to throw messages into mail client to get around the blockage of port 25 to that IP.
They won't clean up, they will go to an ISP that doesn't care. I run a small ISP, I've called customers and informed them of these issues... nothing happens... threaten to cut them off... nothing happens... cut them off... they call angry say "Fine! Don't bother!" and a customer is lost.
A customer lost, is a customer lost. Police != Profit unfortunately, and it's a fine line to walk.
They may very well have the right to do it...
However, I may have the right to jump of a bridge, but that doesn't make it smart.
Because you can, is rarely a good reason to do anything.
but yeah, that's the vaguest explination i've ever heard. Reminds of my mother.. "BECAUSE I SAID SO!"
