Tesla also whined about Top Gear saying it would only get 55 miles per charge during their tests, but that number came from their OWN engineer when Top Gear asked them about it.
Stories like this make me proud of my alma mater, Colorado School of Mines, for having a bio-medical engineering minor for mechanical engineers. We need more engineers working in medicine.
I think it is funny how many people are obsessed with the volcanic activity in Yellowstone but completely ignore the Long Valley Caldera. From the USGS website:
Earthquake activity in the Long Valley area of eastern California increased greatly after 1978.... Since 1980, typical background geologic activity in the Long Valley area has included as many as 20 earthquakes of magnitude 2 or smaller a day, occasional swarms of magnitude 3 and larger earthquakes (felt locally), and uplift of the center of Long Valley Caldera at a rate of about 1 inch per year. Swarms including magnitude 4 earthquakes may occur about once a year.
This past semester in my geology class we did an in depth study about volcanos and this caldera in particular. My professor has a great deal of enthusiasm about this supervolcano because it is most likely going to erupt within the next 50-100 years.
Since I am still in school working on my degree in applied physics, I don't have a great deal of insight to offer. However, I have heard from several of my friends that are working and there seems to be an unwritten rule that bosses like to hire smart people but don't like it when employees are smarter/better educated than them. To me, it appears to be an inferiority complex.
By that logic, the pound of cocaine found in a freezer as a result of a valid search warrant would be considered as self-incrimination.
It depends on what the search warrant is for. If the search warrant is for drugs, then you are screwed - if it is for something else, the police will confiscate it but they can not charge you for possesion of it. This is covered under the "Unreasonable search" part of the Bill of Rights.
I don't know about other places, but here in Colorado, if you want to have some of your power supplied by wind, you have to pay an extra premium for it.
Actually, the Mayan civilization was quite advanced when it came to astronomy. In some aspects, they were as advanced as we are today. Not only did they predict numerous solar and lunar eclipses but they also knew a lot about astronomy.
I generally agree with your comments about not believing in old civilizations knew more than we do now though.
(Oh, and it was a crime for a great many years to be a homosexual. Just like it is a crime now to be a bigamist or commit bestiality. When Mormons take over the government or dogs learn to talk, expect those laws to change.)
The Mormon church is against bigamy and excommunicates any member who practices it.
There was a minor stock market correction in October, 1929 (roughly like the wobbles NASDAQ has been having the last few days). The market recovered within a few weeks, and not until years later was the correction mythologized by revisionists into a "crash". The economy was fine until 1933, when FDR, having lied his way into office, dictatorially closed the banks and threw the economy into a tailspin
The worst loss in a single day for stock market occurred Oct. 24th 1929. What was the best gain in a single day for the stock market? Oct. 25th, 1929!
The stock market crash did not propel us into the Great Depression. That was caused by FDR, when he refused to be inagurated president until late May, 1932. This caused a great deal of uncertanty in the banking world and destroyed several trading markets, especially futures.
Social conscience is something you hell-bent-on-making-money-at-all-costs right-wing conservative nuts seem to lack.
What do we lack? A bleeding heart? lol
Seriously, I am extremely conservative and I do give to my community as much as I can (mostly in the form of man hours as I am a (poor) college student. After I graduate and start making more money, I will donate to causes that I support.
What upsets me is when some self-proclaimed "crusader" demands that I give them money and that if I don't, I "lack a social conscience". I'm sorry I want to KEEP THE MONEY I EARNED!! After all it is MY MONEY, not yours or "society's". If you want money, go earn it yourself.
There is a very strong correlation between the amount of money spent on a campaign, and the results of the campaign. The more you spend, the more likely you are to win.
That happened here in Colorado. Jared Polis spent over $1,000,000 of his own money to win the at large Jefferson County school board seat. The loser only spent $10,000.
Another tip is to be NICE to the person you are talking to. I work in customer support and I will go out of the way to help someone that is being nice to me. If the person that calls in is a jerk, I will to the absolute minimum and make him jump through every hoop required.

Companies that understaff are probably more likely to go under, as all their customers leave.
Not only will their customers, but the employees that work there will also. I work in a call center and I am almost ready to quit my job because of that reason.
What about junk yards? Should the car parts industry ban them because people can pull their own used parts and pay a fraction of what they would buying the part new?
If it wasn't for the "buy it used" button on Amazon, I wouldn't have been able to purchase a book that went out of print in the early 1970's. Not all books are always in print.

Ummm, the car acts like a Farday's cage and it *does* protect you from lightning strikes. I'd suggest you go back and review your physics...
I agree, is there a write in ballot for mistakes like this?
Next you'll be telling me that Jurrasic Park, Armageddon, etc. are based on junk science!

So are you saying that RIAA is responsible for this theft???

Well, you SUCK and so do the Raiders!!!! Erm, sorry, wrong person... Nevermind...

Most of us expected that it would last forever ... The law is harsh, but it is the law.
:)
Sounds like Microsoft after an unfavorable antitrust settlement
Do you really think Microsoft would give up that easily?
I can just see Bill Gates talking to his lawyer: "No, don't appeal. We broke the law and need to be held accountable."
Your quote reminds me of a scene from Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail.
We should then fine Microsoft $41 billion and wipe out their reserve.

Ted Bundy raped the women before he murdered them. I believe that was the point that LowellPorter was trying to make.

In Denver, there is a building that is named World Trade Center also. Should that name also be changed?
