...one on slashdot. I direct you now to the fact that there has been a severe economic down turn and massive jobloss in the last few years. It is only now that the economy is starting to turn around. Now the RIAA could turn around and perhaps say that in years past music sales went up during times of economic stress due to people needing more stress relief in the form of entertainment media. But since they didn't point it out to begin with they either didn't consider it or the reverse is true. When the economy is bad, music sales are bad. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Really, this is scary. I beat this new law down with the '1984' stick. Are we moving towards a world where the corporations run everything? Oh wait they already do.
If some jackass tries to come into my home or business because he 'thinks' I'm using his IP I'm gonna shove my fist down his throat. Luckily I don't live in Europe.
I for one will not purchase the special edition set. I would certainly buy the original set unaltered on DVD, that is what I want, but the special edition versions suck ass. Boycott with me!
I think your impression of UT, CS and Quake are unfounded. There are definitely people who cheat in these games but the vast majority do not. Most of the time people who are accused of cheating are just really good at the game and the noobs don't know whats going on so they accuse them of hacking, aimbotting etc. UT2003 is only $19.99 at amazon.com and its pretty fun(you could probably pick it up for less at a second hand game store). UT you can probably pick up for $5. CS is free if you have half life. You don't need to be good at the games to have fun. I can't speak for Quake because I never played them that much.
America's Army is a grenade fest. The only thing to do is launch nades. Also, it restricts what maps you can play based on your current honor, which goes up and down depending on your actions. For instance, if you launch a grenade into a room and your idiot team mates all run in and die you lose honor and can't play the better maps.
The first thing you should do is hop on over to 3D Buzz. They have video tutorials that you can download for free. Thats how I learned to use Unreal Ed. Unreal Ed is easy to use compared to any of the other editors that I tried. I tried the Valve Editor for Half Life. It is also very good but a little more difficult to learn than Unreal Ed I found. Maybe it was because I didn't have the easy video tutorials though.
I also used the Neverwinter Nights Editor which was pretty easy to learn just using my previous knowledge and experience with other editors. You might want to start with something REALLY basic if you don't have any experience at all. Try making some levels with the Starcraft Editor. It is very very basic. If you know C++(or any language like it) that will be a big asset too because any of the really cool stuff that you can do to create dynamic events is done with script in any editor that you pick.
I'm also interested in getting into game design. One of the things you can do is to get a group of people together and create a mod. That is one way of getting in the door. I think you'll find it hard to get into a game company without a resume with some actual experience with a published game. Otherwise they won't even look at you.
You can also search on google for free 3D engines, or inexpensive ones like Torque. I've also entered the Make Something Unreal Contest. The first round is over but I think you can still enter the second two rounds. I could be wrong on that though.
Governments should release hi res images of fake bills that have identifying marks on them. This way people with legitimate use arguments can use them but still not be able to use them as counterfeit. They could look nearly identical to fake bills but have a differing watermark and a special ID number on them so cashiers can see if it's a fake. Photoshop isn't fool proof. I was able to open a photo of a one dollar bill that I downloaded from the net.
Hehe...well I've got it open right now and I see lots of custom maps! I was referring to this when I was talking about Valve upgrading their networks. I don't think I'll be paying a monthly fee to play HL2, since it will be available for purchase in stores as well as through steam. I don't know anyone who deludes themselves to belief Steam stops cheating, but it does have a significantly improved interface which I like.
Sorry if I sounded angry, I'm just a peaceful stoner.
I've been burned by too many MMOG treadmills to pay for another one without trying it out for a few days first. EQ, DAoC, Shadowbane(only beta phew), just to name a few. Treadmill gaming is so boring. I know a lot of people still play these games and seem to love treadmills but I am tired of chasing the cheese only to have it dangled just a little further away. That said, if I beta'd a game and thought it was really good I would pay a monthly fee and download it if that is what was required. Of course, the first thing I look into when looking for a place to live is if they have broadband available. I don't care if its the nicest house on the planet for 50 cents. If there is no cable or dsl I won't move there...
Anyhow...my point is that I think people will buy games that entertain them, regardless of what they have to do to buy them.
Everyone I know uses Steam. You can play any map you want with Steam. Obviously you've never used Steam or you would have known that. Maybe you should use it before you comment. The only down side to steam is the down time it experiences but it is fairly rare. The complaints come from the fact that WON was almost never down and Steam goes down for a couple hours a week. This will probably stop happening once they have a more powerful network and they have already taken steps to do that.
Gimme a break, the card just came out. I shouldn't need a top of the line card to get more than 5 fps. There are lots of much better looking games that I can get 40fps or higher.
I tried but I think I was getting about 10 frames a second if not less. I had it on the lowest settings. I admit my system isn't top of the line but I have a Geforce FX 5200, 512 MB DDR memory and a 1700 Athlon XP. It should run smoother. When are developers going to realize that eye candy does not a good game make?

Is it just me or is this the most useless app on the planet? The quality is terrible and 90% of the time they let you use Windows Media Player instead.
This game isn't good. People just get addicted to it and can't stop playing it. I played it for more than a year and I finally realized I wasn't playing it because it was fun, I was just playing it. Every release since the original has had major flaws, bugs, features that were left out etc...
Verant's customer service is so horrible that I do not want to ever purchase a product from them again. Which is sad because I really want to play Starwars Galaxies...hopefully they have a different team working on that one.
This is supposed to be a roleplaying game, but Verant has gone as far as to discourage roleplaying, not only by their actions but by their words. Yeah I'm bitter...
Halo is the best FPS I've ever played. Better than Half Life. The great thing about it is you can play through the single player campaign in split screen with a friend.
In Fahrenheit 451 it presents the idea of a portable music player. When I first studied it in school they said it was the idea that lead to walkmans, but it ressembles an mp3 player more than a walkman...of course they didn't have mp3 players back then. I would read the book '1984' as well. I'm sure there are tons of ideas in that one too.

Think about it.
And also, what is the average air speed of an unladen swallow?

But how do people with infected machines then download software to become uninfected? Comcast better be sending them free software in the mail.

You can turn any online game into an audio game with Roger Wilco, Visio, or any number of online audio chatting softwares.

Cut out the address listed on the envelope and replace it with one where you actually want to send an envelope, use it to send to your friends.
