If you have AT&T's shitty cellular internet, the only movie player compatible with the bandwidth you actually get is AAXINE. Which I can't seem to find in the PlayStore.
I used to be a total Nokia Fanboi. Hell, I use a Nokia N9 as my everyday cell phone. I cried like John Boehner when Elop took over and made Nokia Microsoft's bitch.
Now I'm mad! I just ordered one of those Google 7 tablets, and my former love, Nokia is trying to stop me from having it!
I have an N900 as well. Along with an N800, and an N770.
Actually, I just ordered another N9 ( 64 gb ) and Amazon for $456.00 to keep in the drawer because I am using my current N9 everyday ever since my Samsung Galaxy S II dropped while charging and poofed it's USB port.
I also ordered one of the new Google 7" tablets so I can still be owned by them, just not on my phone.
The N9 user interface could have been a real winner. Well, in the same way the Cro-Magnon could have been our ancestors.
The N9 has Google Chat ( Video ) built into the core. It's not Meego, it is still Maemo. They call it Meego but it's not. If you used one you would understand.
It is dead because Steven Elop killed it. How embarrassing to have a phone vastly superior to the Windows thing.
BMW still makes fine cars, but they all have insurance company mandated nanny stuff. I had an 02 M5. It was awesome.
I am a phone geek. The cell phone that I like the best. Actually the best cell phone ever made, in my opinion is the Nokia N9. Now dead, no longer made, it's corpse used to make shitty Lumia's. It could have been the 3rd leg in the cell phone triad.
But, it isn't about technology. The people that buy cell phones aren't the real customers, but the companies that suck user information and sell it.
The Nokia N9 is like the 2002 BMW E39 M5. the last of the great road cars where you could actually shift it, and trurning off the traction control really did just that.
So, long Nokia. The N9 could have been a stellar hit.
I may be from a Northern state, and liberal on most things, but I do have an NRA sticker on my back window and carry a Kimber Super Carry Pro.45. I'm fine in Arizona, I appear to fit right in.
I'm a mid 50's white guy. I always keep my passport with me when I travel through Arizona. One never knows. From a distance, at night, I may be suspected of being a Canadian.
My latest major project was 2010 -> 2011. I started back in the early 1980's. What I do is very specialized and the major companies in the field all know me. They call when they need something. I'm just lucky that I don't have to go out and sell myself any more. There is also snobbery. The team I lead, and had work on my designs all had Doctorates in CS. At first, they were taken back that this major company would give me carte blanche on running this project. Once we got going, everything was fine. They recognized the value of the work.
I have been lucky. With only high school I have work all over the world doing software development since the early 1980's. I have worked as a consultant for mega corps with a staff of PhD's and invented some world changing algorithms ( which of course the mega corps patented ).
If you are good enough, or have a perspective that is outside the box and produce results, the degree doesn't matter.
It's just harder. Harder to get in the door to present yourself. Harder to win acceptance of your work. Harder in just about every metric you can think of.
Sorry, I for one think subsidizing SpaceX to buy insurance is wrong. I would prefer welfare mama's all be given Cadilacs. Want to be in the space business, pay your own way.
Joliet Illinois would never be on this list. The demographic indicator I use is the ( tooth / tattoo ) ratio. Normally Joliet has an embarrassingly low value, except where there is a NASCAR race in town. Then, the ( tooth / tattoo ) ratio slides down into the extreme low single digits.
The Saturn V could (and did) shut down 1 of it's 5 first stage engines and still go to the moon. Tell me, How much of the 1960's Saturn V payload of 256,000 LBS to orbit can this shining new example of "private" technology the Falcon lift? If and when it works?
Of course the US can "go it alone" on everything. It's simple economics, we in the USA have no healthcare because our government siphons off our tax revenue for insane military spending so big oil, big pharma, big banking, big entertainment can have their will around the world.
We spend more than the rest of the world combined on military, so our big corporations don't have to worry about borders.
Since the Barnes & Noble Nook deal with the evil overlords of Redmond, it is obvious that the vile rulers will not want anyone learning that Linux even exists. Like Nokia, Barnes & Noble is now just Microsoft's bitch.
Put your Pr0n on Google drive. Let them share that. Seriously, would you put anything that really is secret or sensitive in the cloud? Common sense should be enough.
The N9 was an unknown home run. Really. They killed it and used most of the parts for the Lumia, but Nokia could have knocked one out of the park with Maemo / Harmatten.

Phuque!
Where is this world going?
I wonder if this thing will make Bitcoins at a greater rate than they charge? Capitalism in it's purist form!
Adam West is the one true Batman!

Google can still claim that ChromeOS is virus free!
Where are mod points when I need them? This is funny.

Fools.
There is a difference between Google, M$, and Apple. Google still condones having fun.
Political analogy for Windows Mobile?
Ulysses S Grant.
Dead and buried.
