While it might look like this is a feint to extract more contributions in the cable vs. DSL battle, I suspect that cable providers wouldn't mind using this legislation to degrade competing VoIP services either...
Very good point, I could see Comcast doing this very thing
In the end, I don't think this two-tiered model would work for all companies - if you have superb local content, its going to cost you. If not...well, fend for yourself...
um can you say N64 Goldeneye??? Everyone always left it on the default control style (1.1 Honey IIRC) but if you switch to 1.2 Solitaire your skillz go through the roof. it used the analog stick to look around and the c-pad to walk/strafe
N64 Golden Eye brings back good memories...
I'm not a huge fan of console gaming relly...GT4 hasn't left the PS2 since I don't know when.
Bring one with PVR cabalities and you might catch my interest...
and to clarify, i was born early 1981. I had an early NES but was lucky enough to have my grandparents give me an Atari 2600 - I spent equal ammounts on both machines.
Nintendo has, and continues to, provide a great gaming experience on all levels.
Sony and Microsoft based consoles not so much - they have their winners - but as most people are pointing out - look at the controls (even Nintendo has bowed to this) things are becomming more complex.
The market is demanding this complexity - not your everyday entry level gamer or mom or dad. Kids are growing up with this more complex, semi-reality facade game and thats what the scene is going to push.
I provide support for Windows 98SE - XP and Mac OS 9 and X.
Each have their different quirks, menus and commands.
From a support standpoint - if I need someone's IP address - Windows 98-ME needs to run winipcfg. In Win2k-XP, ipconfig needs to be run the command line.
At least if someone calls with Linux I know all I have to do is have them open a terminal and run ifconfig. No matter the distro.
No kidding. Saying that it's had a stellar record in the US is somewhat less meaningful when it has only been in commercial use for less than 2 years.
A great point to make.
Remember everyone: Windows is always bad. Don't worry about your poor security habits - you're probably fine.
This argument? Really? Yes, and every person driving an automobile stops at each and every stop light and always yields to peds...oh wait, they don't.
And guess which one kills more people every year?

This event really is something to see in person, it's awesome - been there the past 3 years. Lucky for me, I also get to party there in December.
Wasn't that SCO's business model? Didn't work out well for them.
I don't see why myspace and youtube pick up the creative commons licensing schema....this is exactly what CC was created for...

I think the real beauty of this is that GAIM is going to reap benefits as well as Google.
Now that's a great situation.
and if you sign up for a year of yahoo music or 4 months of napster - you get a $50 MIR
not too bad...
ok, for the argument of firefox vs. ie....
which one has been around longer?
by that, which one SHOULD by reason of pure common sense have LESS problems.
right.
yea, and so did the typical, natural trend of the warming and cooling of the ocean currents...
terminal...you mean like eterm?

Things just aren't what they used to be.
don't forget etree.org for live, legal performance downloads.
or that require personal information before reading them online...
neither do most mp3 players..

you dont have sudo installed for security reasons, yet allow remote root logins?
thats fucking ironic...
Why allow root login?
you can always su/sudo...
Ah - but maybe these Dust Devils are why there are none...
Yea - my isp has not complained about my BT traffic...
