Anyone know if, by chance, they have fixed the annoying finder issue where folder views are not kept?
This is an issue with me that's actually addressed in the KB. They state it will be fixed in a future OS revision. Anyone else think that's kind of lame?
why can't you pass all the vob's through a decrypter then pass the unencrypted vobs to a blank dvd disc? Any dvd player will play unencrypted dvd's such as Army of Darkness. I don't think the alarm is for nothing.
ok wise ass... my windows xp just rebooted itself for no reason because I selected the desktop properties... and continues to do so everytime I try to select the desktop properties.
I've ignored that warning for a long time and have had no problems. Intersting that it didn't get mentioned, but mplayer plays.asf and divx 3.11 movies too.
they won't release that version here because that means there is greater possibilty to pirate the games here. Japan, apparently, doesn't have quite the piracy problem that the US does.
I have a dreamcast and a cube. I am a fan of the dreamcast big time. Have had it since shortly after launch. But I have to tell you, anyone who says they can't see a difference between dreamcast games and cube games need laser surgery. These changes are not dramatic, they are a natural evolution in realism that seems to go unoticed alot. Take luigi's mansion, the lighting effects alone are drastic improvements over older consoles. Take on other environmental effects like dust and cloth movements. These are all things that have been said repeatedly in reviews, but are very true statements. Besides, your basing your opinions of off launch titles that never really show off the hardware's performance. One can look at Sonic Adventure2 and clearly know what I mean.
umm, wasn't the dreamcast the first on the next gen consoles and the Saturn before it? The most popular console is the one with the best and most exclusive game agreements. Plain and simple.
Could *anyone* stay awake with Star Trek the Motion Picture? Bad as insurrection? I think not. Granted there hasn't been any pal bald chicks in the new flicks, but that may be a little harsh.
the good news is if you pop over to linuxgames.com they have a link to the linux binary that will run the windows CD. Also look for tuxgames to sell the binary and windows cd soon. They report to ID as 'linux sales' so try your hardest not to buy the windows version.
Explain how giving away a "limited" license for software that already monopolizes the desktop so that the schools can, presumably, buy a full featured license harms MS? Is giving Windows to schools really doing much of anything? It sounds like a pay off. I mean politicians can now say "we bullied MS into benefiting education." I must have missed this definition of justice.
you to give them money and let them pay online distributors. They want to be your bank. Paypal is setup to issue money you have in your account to in via check or direct deposit. They do, however, hope you'd let them hold on to it (like a bank) so they can make money on it from the interest. It would be interesting to see how many people leave money in their paypal account. Just a thought.
I'm sure I'll get modded down, but oh well. Why is it all of a sudden our job to renegotiate musicians contracts? It seems to me that this civil disobedience is only defiance of authority. I'm going to have to say that these people are all adults (mostly) or have adults representing them. I can't feel sorry for these guys. I know it sounds preachy but everyone misses opportunities to make more money, you do the best you can and move on. As for the RIAA, I don't condone anyone who sells and markets a product pissing on it's buyers. It's a tough place to be, I mean you like a band and want to support them but at the same time you don't want to support the RIAA. I think the best thing overall to do is not to give any of those people money. If you want information/music to be free the RIAA has to lose money and go out of business. Only way to do that is to stop giving it to them. The real musicians who love it will forge on.
if they offered a trade in program for those who are interested. I mean, not everyone is going to want a computer, but those who do can trade up their computer and Ford can give those unwanted computers to charity. That gives Ford a nice tax write off. Furthermore, you look good to everyone. I mean, you are give to charity, you are upgrading your workforce's computers, and you make a little money back in the form of tax savings. Seems a little smarter to me. I wish my employer at least made the effort that Ford did.
When you sign up for a passport id with a hotmail account they wouldn't sell that address to everyone under the sun.
I signed up for hotmail before MS ever took it over. I never used the email address in any form online, never even had any mail to it. I basically just had it because. After MS took over it litterally filled the account with junk mail.
since the servers use encryption, someone must feel that the RIAA can't tell what's going on unless they break the DMCA. The funny thing is (and even the letter says so) they can get a court order to break the encryption to find out what is really going on. I am sorry to say, but the RIAA legal team has their shit together and these systems can expect to be taken down. There will always be something new that pops up, however.
well you had to drive to the store to spend $300 (minmum) on MSOFFICE. It seems a whole lot more logical to go to www.sun.com to spend $50 on a cd. Chances are you can even go back to that store you bought MSOFFICE from and even buy it there. Not to mention Suse and other distros include it now.
Have you read the mplayer mailing list? Hell even the homepage. I understand how 100 of the same questions in the mail can get irritating but it has to be expected on a public project. While the superficial point of public created software is to create software that is useful, I'd like to think it's more about sharing information and community spirit. Alot of people do RTFM, but if they felt comfortable (or got what they needed from the manual) they wouldn't have taken the time to post to a mailing list, or ask the developer a question.

that and in windows XP it's even in the ADD/REMOVE Programs.

heh, it was samana1@hotmail.com go figure. Granted there are the samana islands but honestly?

how about the fact that you go to the store to buy free software, then pay sales tax on that free software.
...and send them windows95 based solutions
WOOT!
we argue about processors, is that close enough?

well if it's because you were able to get things done with software, didn't you get from point a to point b in your car?
if it's because you can make money with the software, doesn't your car take you to work? I don't see where this is any different.
this seems to be companies trying to maximize their profits by 'asking for an inch.'
...and don't forget star office for those MSOffice files!
