Why must it have to just be about competition? Linux wasn't developed in the first place as "competition" to another product.
If I was buying a tablet PC (and I _do_ like the form factor), I sure as hell wouldn't want it running Windows XP, so its just nice to have the choice.
but the image of a nerdy guy who spends all day in a dimly lit room blowing up computer-generated bad guys is off base
I heard the Oval Office is very well lit, and the computer-generated "bad guys" are now so realistic its hard to tell the difference between them and real people.
I thought it was just Mcbride slumped in a corner, fly unzipped, chocolate cake all over his face and shirt, writing 'press releases' on an etch-a-sketch, before handing it to a pigeon to put it on the PR newswire....
From what I've heard, the United Linux contract made a provision for people leaving, but not getting kicked out. I guess all the other members could leave and make a new group, but that kind of defeats the point.
"UnitedLinux provides the Linux business user with operating system platform that is focused on their needs and provides a greater choice of applications and hardware. The four geographically strong Linux partners, with headquarters in Asia, Europe, and South and North America, make it easier to provide local language support, training, and professional services. Customers now have a true international version of Linux. UnitedLinux enables more rapid adoption of Linux in the enterprise, which, in turn allows customers to reap the benefits of Linux with lower risk and cost."
it makes you wonder just how two faced they can be
Movie-Aspect is undefined - no prescaling applied. everything done. Thank you for downloading a media file containing proprietary and patentend technology.
Surely if the RIAA insist on going after students and / or other people, they should seek reasonable amounts of damages that, if they win, could actually BE PAID.
Seeking this stupidly high amounts (so high they are hard to imagine in "real money") simply makes them lose even more credibility and makes the lawsuits laughable.
Ah.. don't forget billg@microsoft.com and now darlmcbride@sco.com ! :D
Looks like they have set the title tag to be

Interesting, where I work (SuSE Linux), we have had people switching to our Enterprise Server from AIX because they are worried about the SCO mess.

..that after all the whining they have done, they can still have this on their website:
United Linux
With claims like
"UnitedLinux provides the Linux business user with operating system platform that is focused on their needs and provides a greater choice of applications and hardware. The BBC had an article on this, along with why it's time we went back..
Even a fuel cell doesn't seem to be able to keep the machine in their advertisment from getting a Blue Screen Of Death :)
