Violations of rights is Violation of rights is Violation of rights. It doesn't matter if you are a us citizen or not. I believe the constitution said that "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL". Maybe i misread that.

Either way, history has shown that laws supposadly aimed at "non-us citizens" have been extended to us citizens eventually. Know about RICO? That law was supposed to apply only to people in the mafia. Later, abortion protesters and stock brokers were prosecuted under that law. Money Laundering laws and Asset seizure? These were only supposed to apply to the "evil" drug lords. Now innocet americas who have not been accused of a crime can have their property stolen by law enforcement.

And as for Lincoln, Washington, and FDR, they were in REAL WARS, not some fictional crusades like the "War" on Crime, the "War" on Drugs, and the "War" on Terrorism.

  2. Impeach Bush on DOJ Already Monitoring Cable Internet Traffic · · Score: 5, Insightful

Let's look at what this prick has done in the last 2 months:

    - Sped through the patriot act, which has us on the road to a police state, allowing for secret searches of property and seizure of information, urinating directly on the 4th amendment.

    - Trashed our system of justice by authorizing secret trials, using secret evidence, and even allowing secret executinos. The "evidence"will not be avaiable for the accused to refute, with no opportunity for the accused to appeal. In doing so he has invoked the divine right of kings, not even asking for congress's approval.

    - Carrying out acts of war without declaring war(declaring war against a tactic doesn't count, war is by definition a conflict between 2 nations, not some open ended crusade). Only congress can declare war(or approve a declaration of war), and so far it has not done so. In addition, he has justified all these invasions of civil liberties by claiming that we are indeed at war.

    - Deciding which american citizens will be protected by the constitution, claiming, "you don't deserve protection if you are hiding and committing acts of terror"(Ed note: or are suspected of doing so)

I dunno about you, but this is a hell of a lot more serious than clinton getting his dick sucked by some slut and then lying about it.

AFAIK, wineX is solely concentrating on DirectX and its components. Excel IIRC does not use DirectX, therefore WineX should have no bearing on it.

If i want online gaming, I'll do it with a pc game. Consoles are for games that you either play by youself, or when you bring friends to your room. I'm getting a PS2 for christmas and I can't think of a single game I want for it that would make any sense at all to use as a multiplayer game.

When Microsoft decides to compete with someone they usually won't win in round 1 (at least if they play fair), but when you're a half-trillion dollar company, you can afford to both throw incredible amounts of resources at a problem and wait a few years for an industry-leading product to gel out of it.

I don't think netsape ever was an 800-lb gorilla to begin with. Sure they had a good hold on the browser market at one time, but they were never really a truly huge megacompany that microsoft was. They theoritically could eventually win like this, but i'm sure if they did this it would take MS at least a decade before they could ever overtake either sony or nintendo.

Sony and Nintendo however, are much larger than netscape ever could have been. And now MS is fighting on 2 fronts. One against the Gamecubes launch, and the other against the ps2's 2nd generation titles.

I think the XBox's potential lies in the ability (I would assume) to easily port Windows code over to it.

As for the portability argument, it's not very important for the success of the console. The console's strength lies in its games, and the more games that are avaiable on only your platform, the better. If the games are available on other systems(say the pc), it doesn't strengthen the motivation to get the x-box for the "ported from windows" games, now does it?
