I never really understood why citizen kane was such a great movie. I mean it wasn't a bad movie, but after I saw it, I was thinking, "and this is the greatest movie ever because...?" I didn't think LoTR was that great either.
So, I agree with your point. IMDBs list is a good guide, but no one should treat it as the definitive list for the greatest movies of all time.
Really, can someone explain to me all of the mis-directed righteous indignation at Microsoft over this? It's a non-issue. If you don't like what MS has done with the Zone...tough. Just go play elsewher.
Tell that to the people who wanted to play on the zone but couldn't due to microsoft's clumsy transition to passport
Something to learn about open-source projects is that binaries for them do not necessarily come out right away. They have to build the program for various platforms and test each binary, which takes some time. You should compile from source, anyway. That'll guarantee it working:) Anyways, be patient they'll get binaries soon enough.
unfortunately, if you use windows, IE has a bad habit of rearing its ugly head. It will open up whenever i click on a link on AOL instant messenger no matter what i do, and occasionally some other programs will override my default browser(opera) and IE will pop up again. It's like an psycho ex-girlfriend who won't stop calling you after you break up.
They are assuming that everyone who pirated the software would have bought it had they been unable to pirate. From my personal experience, and my friends experience, it's usually the opposite. As such, this figure is wildly innacurate.
But people don't mind TV shows on cable, or movies, or web sites, which have some sort of violent content?
"It has come to my attention that some students were complaining about the movie "Amistad" that I had you see for extra credit, saying that they were offended by the display of breasts. Well I don't know what they're complaing about. Just turn on the TV and there they are: breasts. Bouncing around all over the place."
The creators of mp3, AFAIK, have never been sued by the RIAA. The creators of divx have never been sued by the MPAA, again AFAIK. Until the SSSCA gets through(pray that it doesn't), the MPAA and the RIAA have nothing to go on for suing people make formats themselves.
The baldur's gate games have never missed their mark, and I'm eagerly awaiting this one. This one looks like it'll be diabloesque, but with actual role-playing involved, rather than just a click-fest(or in this case button-mash) arcade game.
you can download IE6(or 5) and get outlook express. That makes it completely free. There is no way(legally) to get outlook without having to pay for Microsoft Office. Even if it's just *thrown in their* it still doesn't change the fact that you have to pay for Office, hence Outlook is not free.
You seem to think that I approve of clinton's "legacy"(notice from the sig that i'm libretarian). I certainly don't. I would have supported his impeachment if it was for what he actually did instead of the whole lewinsky thing. then it would have had more meaning. otherwise, what was the point.
In addition to his intern adventures, Clinton also abused executive orders and bombed the hell out of other countries without a declaration of war, including deliberately targeting civilians.
I am aware of what clinton did, and they were certainly impeachable offenses, but i was mainly referring to what he was impeached for.
First, ok, so i misquoted the constitution, so sue me.
Second, if we're so intent on spreading "freedom and democracy" around the world, don't you think we should treat all foreigner's like we treat our citizens? Why is it acceptable to do something to a foreigner that wouldn't be acceptable to do to a citizen? If we truly believe in the constitution, then we should extend its ideals to everyone, not just ourselves.

'Lindows' is in the same "industry" as 'Windows', and is intentionally abusing the popularity of Windows for its own benefit.
Yeah, but not in the way you think. They allow windows programs to run on linux. I don't think I would call that abusing, though.
MS or AOL, really is there that much of a difference?
we're fucked either way. Would you like to die by hanging or would you like to be shot by a firing squad.
certainly not mine.
IIRC i believe Opera 5.0 was the version that had problems. v 6.0 is out for all platforms, and that one doesn't have any reported problems.
if you outlaw gta3, only outlaws will have them!
Does a router constitute as a VPN?

Danger does not necessarily mean physical harm. For example, you can call ideas dangerous. Given that, i don't think the title was a misnomer.
Either way, I will guarantee you if you ask one of the people who made this list if the toys are "dangerous", they will say "YES!".

Gibson guitars are notoirous for being insanely expensive. Any chance these'll be on any fenders or ibanez?
Yes, you are mistaken.
Can't blame you for being confused, there's no mention of the release date anywhere of blizz's war3 site.
he said christmas, not sometime in 2002.

Outlook EXPRESS is free. Outlook(which comes with Microsoft Office) is not.
if you wanna give out your source then all that's needed:
./configure
make
make install
you're done. of course, if you want to distribute binary only, that's another story. I wish there would be an easier way to do it.

i saw this on my friends im profile:
1. WITCHES!
2. COMMUNISTS!
3. TERRORISTS!
Anyone else see the connection?
