    Ah, but the dots are scattered around, not in neat rows - at least, with more modern printers anyways (publishing and inkjet), so you won't see "screen door".

    One thing you forgot: Print does not have the screendoor effect that LCD does.

    Screendoor effect = the gaps between the pixels of an LCOS/LCD/DLP/AMOLED display. Print does not have this issue because of the dot spray pattern of ink.

    And in the meantime, many people opt to "deadhead" for X number of hundred years - voluntarily putting themselves in a suspended state, when they feel they've done everything they really want to do and see everything they want to see. This just seems a few steps beyond the material you typically find in science fiction in the movies or on TV, not to mention in other books I've read so far!

    Iain Banks did this in his Culture books, back in the early 1990s. :)

    You can get them even cheaper online at www.monoprice.com - extremely good cables (I have several HDMI, DVI, DVI->HDMI adapters, fiber optical, etc.) and you can get long 25 feet ones for $30. :)

    If you order online you can get very good quality cables at www.monoprice.com . The service is also fantastic.

    Around $40 for a 25 ft HDMI cable is pretty darned good.

    Jared Diamond wrote in his book "Guns, Germs, and Steel", that most (99%?) of the cultural artifacts were destroyed by the Europeans. Thus, there is almost no record of the cultures that were present when Cortez arrived. We have no idea what the cultural achievements were because they were DESTROYED. All the records - artwork, carvings, temples.

    Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
