We got our German Shepherd from a rescue and she started barking at people walking in front of our house the same night. She is the sweetest thing but you wouldn't know it by walking in front of our house, where she sounds positively vicious. She and her best buddy, a Lab/Retriever mix we got a few months later, are pretty much all we need to keep any prowlers away (we had two on the property (while my wife was home with the kids) in the months before we got the dogs). There are now much easier targets in the neighborhood, should someone be checking things out.
There seem to be a lot of complaints about this so far, but I for one am really looking forward to it. I've been linking to the itms extensively for about a year now (just cause it's very useful for my users). It's going to be great to start getting some revenue!
Ditto (except change "a year" to "three months"). If I'm going to have my site linking to iTunes songs and albums anyway, I like the idea of getting (the possibility of being) paid for it.
I think that I accept the stated reasons: that it was a near-imminent threat to stability in the region, and that if we had allowed it to become an imminent threat (like North Korea), we'd be unable to do anything about it (like North Korea).
WRONG. The stated reasons were that Iraq was a "near-imminent threat" to the United States because it possessed WMD.
So many times I talk or I see another woman talk to you guys and your eyes just gloss over like you go into some standby mode until we finish.
It's because we're trying to be polite. We have to maintain great focus:
Don't look at her chest.
Don't look at her chest.
Don't look at her chest.
Don't look at her chest.
Don't look at her chest.
Don't look at her chest.
Etc.
With all that concentrating, who can pay attention to a conversation?
Basic typing will come to you, its the driving people to 40wpm and more that I find unnesessary.
Give me a break. I could easily type well over 60 wpm on a manual typewriter back in the age of the dinosaurs. I can't imagine having to drive someone to type 40 wpm on a computer keyboard. If you don't want to learn how to type properly, fine, but quit making excuses.
Yes, the newer iPods are curvier and sexier because of it, but the ergonomics of the touch buttons is TERRIBLE.
Writing as someone who uses his iPod in the dock 99% of the time, I like the 3g touch buttons much more than the 1g hard buttons. I don't have to put my hand behind the iPod to push a button and having the click sound on gives me all the feedback I need.
Why can't we have an iPod with sexy curves and tactile buttons?
You can think of it as just a diary. Another way to think of it is as a content management system. With the site I'm playing with at the moment (see my homepage link if interested), I'm not using it as a diary at all. I'm using Blosxom and, with plugins provided and created on my own, I'm pretty much using it as a publishing system. I write articles, schedule their publishing date, and pretend people read them:-).
Why do people want something already made for them? Why reinvent the wheel. A good engineer is a lazy engineer. Best to get up and running quickly. Lots of reasons, I should think. For me, the search for the right software took longer than getting the site ready once I found it. Blosxom provides enough easy-to-use customizability that the site looks the way I want it to look.
Blog software is just a tool and a starting point. Take it wherever your imagination lets you.
At...Frys, on the other hand, they can listen to you...
That's a nice theory but, honestly, have you ever talked to a salesperson at Fry's? They're helpful if you aren't able to read the feature list on the box because that's pretty much what they do. Otherwise, I've found that they make great doorstops.
I'd like to second SpamSieve. If more than one piece of spam gets through in a day (where each day I receive > 500 pieces of email), I am truly surprised. My stats for June are:
1007 Good Messages
13729 Spam Messages (93%)
1 False Positives
24 False Negatives (96%)
99.8% Correct
Works for me. Oh, the false positive was a list that I just signed up for. They sent a confirmation mail, I checked to see if it was caught (it was), and marked it as "good". Piece of cake.

Tell that to the Iraqis...
Besides...this is a battle of good vs. evil...
Prove it. Prove that the U.S. is infallibly on the side of good (i.e. the abuses in prison never happened). Go ahead, I double dare you.
You need to read the rest of the Ender series for that. Oh man...
Although Logans Run is one of the best sci-fi films from its era (possibly ever)...
No, that's not possible.
Actually, this article says worker-productivity in Germany and France is equal to that of the U.S.

I took typing in high school, didn't get diddly out of it other than the proper way to type.
Um, what else are you supposed to get out of a typing class?

Writing as a Verizon customer in Southern California...
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I think you're confusing iPods with Jeri Ryan :-).
International Rescue had this figured out a long time ago with a much cooler mole.
They kept the body on life support for Voyager...
But, oh, what a body!
Um, and the iPod is competing against what current Microsoft product, exactly?
That was part of the article's point. Microsoft missed that boat.
Have you guys listened to the band in his .sig? They rock!
I'm not exagerating when I say I have never seen so many grotesquely obese people as on my trips to Vegas.
Been to Disneyworld lately? Yikes!
The government said an overhaul of the system should be finished by December and copies should be available then.
Not available until after the November election, eh? How conveeeenient.
You can use iSpeak It in the meantime.

Yes but you don't go to Fry's if you have a question...about anything. The Apple Stores are much more end-user/switcher-friendly.
Ooh, I like that one. Comes with it's own sticker, too.
