    If im not mistaken, Barney toys caused fights (between parents, the ones who are more 'mature' and 'should know better') a few years ago.

    It makes you kind of wonder what Apple or ( insert your favorite Linux distro) would have done differently had they been on the 90%+ desktop share end. Would they be as....aggressive is the nicest word i can think of right now....as M$?

    My firewire burner is 24X....i havent seen anything less than a 8x that wasn't bus powered and portable.

    Check that, i think the first Quefire drive might have been 4x, but that was two years ago.

    The guys at bungie said that there would be pc and maybe even mac versions of Halo. How long M$ will keep that little gem boxed up is anyones guess.

    I still can't believe they bombed him. The scene in the book could have been filmed easily (so much of the action was off-camera)

    The DVD was an improvement over the original (and all following) release(s), but its still got a bunch of slow parts, and those are still for the most part boring. Im not sure if this new version helped bring it up in the rankings, though.

    crap...just realized that $300 is the retail price on the box....the retailers probably pay less than that, which means M$ gets less....unless they are selling these things at cost expecting to make up for it on games and accessories...and extended warrenties...can't forget those...

    will someone who knows anything about the retail/wholesale costs of these things please post something?

    I've got to imagine that those prices have at least a 25% markup, which puts the cost of that system right around the $300 mark.
    Ad a case and an overpriced controller....

    also, its not a full geforce 3, the hd is 6-8? gigs?

    use some creative accounting and M$ clout...how are they losing money on these things?

    Unless you're a Playstation gamer who upgraded to a PS2, none of your old games carry over to a new system, so when M$ releases the XBox^2 in 2-3 years, you may not have a library of games ready for you....

    You want to play your old games?!?!?
    DON"T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD CONSOLE!!!!

    The more i've been using IE 5.1 on x.1, the more im starting to hate it. I'm typing this comment on omniweb because IE keeps locking up on these long threads.

    Thats assuming, of course, that the future isn't pay-per-play (which it seems is the way the music industry would rather have it).

    Otherwise, this will be known as a feature.

    $400 is a bit steep. Now, if it had a Fm modulator so i could listen to it in the car, then, well, drop the price to $300, it might sell decently.

    Oh, and make Win and Linux drivers for it.

    funny thing is, i've noticed using IE 5.1 on OSX, these really long threads lock up explorer. Omniweb handles them fine, though.

    Maybe its that non-microsoft bashing clause on the license agreement kicking in.

    I'm a mac person myself, but the big reason i use the mac lab is because NO ONE IS EVER IN THERE.

    Ah, piece, quiet, and its actually close to room temperature....must be 100F in the PC labs.

    This is wrong in a couple of different ways. As was pointed out earlier, heres someone who is attempting to legally license a copy of software, and they are being denied that. So it leaves them with two choices, pirated copy or linux.

    What exactly makes OEM untouchable in the eyes of MS? I mean, if i buy a hard drive in oem packaging, i know what im getting. it usually has a weaker warrenty, no software or cables. I pay less because i get less. Does that mean i can't resell it? And what if it is bundled with a system. Does that mean i can't sell off my old cdrom drive i replace with a burner?

    Of course not. It's simply a component of a computer. It can be removed. it can be replaced. and i should be able to sell it if i don't have any use for it anymore.

    Or the other option. for sale, one trash bag with copy of win95. Since i can't legally sell it im throwing it away, and you can buy my garbage.
