Call my article bad or the "worst article ever" but again, this is just a playful list of things I personally would like to happen in the next 5 years and I would of included at least 10 more things but I'm a lazy bastard and I wrote the thing at nearly 3 A.M. before passing out on my desk.
If you really were the person that wrote the article, which I am not disputing, perhaps you should have been drinking Sparks instead of whatever it was you were getting inebriated with.
Secondly, you spelled satirical wrong. In fact, I don't honestly believe your article was "mainly satiracle (sic)." If it was satire, you probably at this point would know how to spell it and you could have used the space to make it humorous! It wasn't funny. Satire doesn't always have to be funny, but in a case like this, IMHO it should have been.
So that said, you should have been drinking SPARKS. Would have been a laugh.
On a more serious note, if you wanted honestly to spur discussion on innovation, you could have had us write the article for you. Try the "Ask Slashdot" feature. Out of the 400 troll posts you could find 5 "Insightful" and probably even 5 "Interesting" ideas on innovation.
Also I would only recommend the graphical installer for people who have used gentoo before, because there's nothing like doing a stage 1 install to get you acquainted with your system and linux in general.
"Without a doubt, Gentoo has set itself apart from every other distro out there. Because it's source-based, it's notorious for its speed. Because of emerge, it's notorious for being simple to maintain. And because of its "install system" (if it can be called that), it's notorious for scaring off potential users before they even get to try it. Well, that's all going to change, because there is a graphical Gentoo installer in the works. It can run with a dialog frontend that bears a striking similarity to Ubuntu, or for faster systems a GTK+ frontend is available."
Well, it looks like things got turned around anyway:
[UPDATE: Looks like MAPS changed its mind. As of Tuesday afternoon ET (GMT -4:00), AOL's listing at the MAPS site is gone, and a lookup shows AOL's mail servers no longer seem to be on the MAPS RBL list. No word yet on whether AOL resolved the spam problems, or if MAPS just decided to give AOL more time.]
All you people complaining about Safari compatibility... For some reason I can't get my maps to scroll after they've been printed. I've tried using Epson and Canon printers. If anyone can help let me know.
But honestly, what use does Amiga have now that Linux (or Mac OS X or Windows for that matter) can't do - and in most ways better?
I'd enjoy having a world with more OS diversification, but what point does Amiga serve anymore? I'm glad it's not dead, I just want to know what it's used for these days.
I remember the days where, in my opinion, it's only uses came down to a couple applications: Video Toaster and Scala. But now? Both of those are pretty obsolete.
I'm not going to say "Amiga is Dead," and I don't believe it should be dead, but tell me what purpose it gives people?
That, and is there any real functionality you are able to get from this hack? Didn't seem like it. I am guessing for 95% of the people that do it are going to follow the directions, say "yay I did it" and then forget all about it other than being able to tell their friends that they owned their own cable modem.
Honestly this seems to be little more than drumming up even more buzz over up-in-coming products. Yeah, they probably were going to keep it a secret for a while longer but now that it's out why not milk it a bit and get the word out?
t is almost always easier to 'hack' into something using a system it wasn't designed for.
I disagree, in this case. For what this application is doing to the iPod, you should be able to get the same access to the firmware regardless of what OS you are using.

Luckily the speakers used in Apple's PowerBooks and iBooks are specifically designed to not cause hearing loss, or they'd really be screwed.
Maybe if you were as good at your job as he is at his, you'd be able to do the same thing.

Have fun. Meow.

Am I missing something here?
Yes you are. Defiantly.

How about if it actually guarded the house? Hook this thing up to your MisterHouse setup and the thing might actually be useful...
...while it is wandering around and guarding, you'd still be able to get it to hump legs when there is an intruder.
;-)
That mild distraction might cause some gained time... and gained time might save a life.

Nobody is going to believe that you had a stalker, garcia.
I helped garcia track the guy down. It's not bullshit.
-Aaron
Well, where's the torrent?
As a father, I like it that way: most of them running away in terror, the rest face-down on the ground. I sleep better.
Are you sure that has anything to do with Gentoo?
:-)
-Aaron
Won't Gentoo lose all of it's coolness factor if anybody who can click a mouse can install it?
:-)
What coolness factor?

Heh! Easy - you ever considered changing your signature to something a little more... complex?
:-)
Read the parent again. The point, I think, is that the signature does not matter.

After seeing the first few comments, I wonder what the record is for the most Flamebait/Troll mods in one story? And shall we break that record today?
You are diluting the prospects of this record by adding off-topic posts!
-Aaron
Unrelated. Amazon can show whatever they want, and recommend whatever they want.
The issue here, as pointed out in a comment from the previous existance of this story is that a company is specifically and intentionally making money off of someone else's specific trademark.

Let it not be said that Microsoft has no sense of humor.
:-)
But that's not funny!

This is all part of Apple's Product Cycle. Surprised it's even news.

I'm honestly surprised this is a Windows app that was made to hack this, and not an OS X one.
Seriously, who the hell have you been interviewing for??
I would assume he applied somewhere where they actually take some effort in their hiring decisions. What he described is not uncommon.

I know garcia IRL. I'm not obsessed with him, he's actually a friend. Let's go out for beers some time, 3terrabyte.
