Here we are with all nations in agreement and yet in the US, we still have deniers that insist that warming isn't real. The US needs some serious education for adults as we have so many ignorant people roaming about.
Give more and charge a lot less! If the cable companies did this they could prosper. Netflix offers a lot for eight bucks a month. What can cable do for you for eight bucks a month?
Fat cats who are stupid get knocked out of business all the time.
Computers, 3D printing and AI are all super, major developments. Any major development in human history has carried a certain amount of chaos, pain and suffering along with it. AI is going to cause a total shift in the nature of human affairs and existence.
But in theory, we have an advantage. We can see it coming and we can buffer the negative consequences if we choose to do so. Obviously human employment will become quite rare in the near future. People without jobs must be well supported by governments. They must have all that is needed to get by plus more so that they can consume products produced by industry. Taxes can only come from people who can afford to pay them and that translates into the wealthy and businesses paying the tax load for the rest of us.
I know the knee-jerk reaction that some people will have when i mention this. And just maybe that is the area that we need to spend money on. We need to make people aware that a huge change is upon them and that there is no choice but to eliminate many long-held beliefs in order to have a smoother transition into the new era. Imagine the chaos that went on when we went from the horse to the car. That was nothing compared to what Ai has in store for us.
Go to Home depot and buy enough foam board to coat the interior of rooms that you need to be quiet. You'll need to cover windows, walls, floors and ceilings as well as doors. You will be creating a dark cave. Plants on the exterior will help, but you'll need an awful lot of plants, and in winter, they may not be very effective with leaves falling in autumn.
Although I maintain that every individual has the same right to spy that any government has to spy upon the public I do think I see one bright spot in this. Criminals may get the message that they can no longer use phones to carry out their crimes or ways of life. It is getting harder and harder to be a criminal.
I simply can not understand how we have such cowards among us. The terror incidents simply do not justify radical precautions. At the point that we start to spend big money and change the basics of our nation terrorism has already won. And I have no doubt that the intercepts will be used for items other than antiterrorism. The temptation to sweep up more mundane criminals will be too strong for law enforcement to resist. And that points to a really serious problem. As a nation, we have out arrested ourselves. The entire legal system in the US could easily be collapsed. Right now if every person arrested simply refuses to post bail, the system can not deal with what will result. If every person arrested insists upon their right to a speedy trial the courts would totally collapse. Right now California can not go after people who rip up their traffic tickets. The problem is so huge that California dare not do much about it. In Miami, Fl. numerous people drive without a license or insurance. A few of them do a bit of jail time, but they seem willing to spend a few days in jail rather than buy insurance and pay for tickets.
So now that we know we have a legal system that clearly can not handle the current load just what will happen if we start using intense spying, seeking not only for lawbreakers but also for people that we fear might do something in the future.
I really hope it works well and produces abundant energy. But just why is the US not ahead on this type of reactor? Is it political or do we lack the ability?
We have quite a few graduates of solid colleges with degrees in biology and advanced degrees as well. Quite a few of these folks could brew up a plague bug but it has never become an issue. Perhaps the only people spending time, money and energy to develop biological weapons are in the employment of governments around the world.
Things are looking brighter for a cure for cancers and I love it. What will it be like to live in a world in which friends and family are not ripped apart by this awful disease? Now can we get this treatment into the hands of every person that needs it or must the poor die even though a cure exists?
Just how can such a thing as a massive, expensive, wind turbine have such a security flaw? Is it penny pinching or just sell it and get it out of here, mentality causing this type of mess?
I was blind as to how common hit and run accidents are. If we took the three counties from Palm Beach to Miami, Fl. on the east coast of Florida we have more than 20,000 hit and run cases every year. Imagine loading our prisons if we could catch all 20,000 every year. Maybe we really do the types of camera surveillance that we see in use in London.
In the US, we still have clowns who think pollution is not important. Industry acts as if it as a right to pollute. Coal burning needs to be banned 100%. Jobs mean absolutely nothing if your lungs are gone or cancer is dragging you into the dirt.
Worse yet there are notions similar to what occurs in Paris. There is the air is still and the pollution remains local Paris takes measures to shut down automobiles etc.. But if the wind is blowing and that pollution is spread over a much wider area officials find it acceptable. Pollution is not acceptable no matter how far you spread it about.
Why not simply take these attacks for what they are. Yes, they are tragic and people suffer and die. However, they are a minor hazard. Such attacks are not the end of the world nor will they bring down our nation. We do not want a police state here. Frankly the terrorists have very little ability as the incidents could have been far worse if they had an adequate knowledge of how things work in America. Shooting 28 people who work with handicapped children will get the digestive juices flowing in our public. If they had shot 28 used car salesmen less hate would be directed towards these lunatics.
The morality wizards want to put on their pointy hats and insert themselves everywhere they can. Curing diseases or eliminating pain and suffering is what medicine is all about. Otherwise, why call an ambulance when someone has an emergency? Saving the life of an elder is the same morally as saving the life of an infant. Yet we will have so-called morality oriented people who will raise all kinds of hell if we have even the slightest negative attached to genetic therapy. So you have a bunch of 80-year-old people who are partially functional and you reverse their aging process but 1% die from the treatment. Why would that be an issue at all? Frankly we know that every now and then people perish from having a tooth pulled. That does not mean we should have everyone walking about with a toothache.
I think the problem is that people expect machine intelligence to look like human intelligence. Machine intelligence exists and is strong in some areas. Modern chess programs are an example. They can play unique games and be stronger than any human player. Yes, they are given the rules of chess and machines did not invent chess. But they have passed beyond human abilities and it is at the point where some programs are coded to only make move patterns that humans would tend to make. Learning how to adapt machine intelligence to our real world problems is challenging. But we are in for a fright when computers get really good at analyzing human problems and applying better solutions that we now have at hand.
There is so much nonsense in city and county governments that I think anyone taking reform seriously is at risk of being assassinated. Somehow America can not afford America. So we have all these entities capturing money any way they can. There is an area of study called poor law. trying to make reasonable laws to deal with the poor is an ongoing battle that has lasted for hundreds of years. Ant tiny bit of progress is rare.
It's not such a simple issue. Prostitutes tend to be wrapped up in illegal drug use or some other form of crime all too commonly. Some are caught up in a vicious form of economic slavery such that they can not get a decent job due to an earlier arrest and have no way to get by except by selling their bodies. It is almost as if the system demands that they remain prostitutes. we also have skin flint employers who use every trick in the book to pay starvation wages. If we want to allow voluntary prostitution we must make a serious effort to determine that is really voluntary and not compelled by an unjust economic and legal system.
In my area, we just went through a long period of time when one question disqualified people from any hope of getting a job. The question was have you ever been arrested. If the answer was yes, even if charges were dropped, or you were found not guilty, you would not be interviewed or hired. It did not matter if it was a misdemeanor or a major crime. Either would keep you out of work for a decade. As employers need more employees, in good times, one might get hired now with a mark on their record.
Go to a bank at the drive- in teller station and you have proof of concept immediately. They only need to use a vacuum but the air removed from the front of the carrier could easily be pumped in behind the carrier and a bit more added as well if speed or distance requires the added boost. There is no question that it works the only question is the expense balanced against the benefits.
The intention of piping oil is to burn it in the end. We need to discourage the burning of fossil fuels and not encourage it.
Tonight scientists reported that due to mercury contamination we need to eat less fish from the Indian river. The river is vast and quite long. dolphins are absorbing mercury as well. We burn no coal here at all so this is most likely mercury from coal burning in the more northern states.
If the films are real then whether inflammatory or not they should be open for the world to see. Perhaps Israel should reign in their soldiers who do wrong and show the world the effects of segregating Palestinians
The IRS defines who is and is not a contractor. These drivers simply are not independent contractors. First they would need a business permit in order to be contractors. They can not be supervised by Uber in any way, And they would need a written contract that offers them benefits roughly equal to any benefits Uber gets by offering the contract.
So many businesses steal money by falsely calling people independents or piece workers and it is fraud both to the workers as well as numerous public agencies. For example, a Uber driver, injured in a wreck can not get Workman's comp. And Workman's compensation suffers an economic loss when employees are falsely called independent contractors.
Sometimes a smart man learns to "need" less. If one goes off the deep end and spends that kind of money to build a rig the next consideration will be in very expensive software and the high- end device will probably spin your electric meter quite a bit as well. I can see going overboard if the PC is earning you money but simply to play games with it is really excessive. Computers are quickly becoming a commodity. That will benefit all of us.
As far as the Linux or Windows argument goes I would choose Linux for 99% of what I need and forget the other 1%. Oddly Puppy Linux is a good choice for most people. It is secure compared to other OSs, is free, and is easy to use in most editions.
One really has to be messed up to deny climate change is upon us. I just saw a talking head from the right wing whining about the killings in Paris and why preventing that sort of thing was more important than efforts to prevent climate change disasters. She was completely out of touch with reality and simply could not get the fact that many places around the world are suffering large-scale horrors already. The fact that the loss of entire nations might be a bit more important than the loss of 150 lives was absent in her mind. Then she tried to excuse the right wing by saying that many people have trouble accepting new facts and new ways of handling things and those people need quite a few years to settle their minds and emotions. It is disgusting in my opinion.

No! We do not need to shut down the net in some way. We need to shut down Trump and I don't care how it is done.

Termites may be displaced if humans start eating wood. And what will happen to the lowly beaver?
