You have the right to refuse medical service - AKA AMA "Against Medical Advice" and you can leave the hospital at any time. Doing this under an insurance plan means you're responsible for the bill. If you were already responsible, you could leave at any time.
Being 29, you have approximately 35 productive working years ahead of you. Spending 29k seem excessive, but if you were disabled for 50% of that time because someone missed a debilitating MI, then 29k becomes peanuts over an expected lifespan.
The problem with medicine is that the costs are fixed, the reimbursment is fixed, but the legal settlements aren't.
We all know that chest pain in a 29 year old is not life-threatining in about 99.9999% of people, but as a society, we've chosen not to reward evidence based medicine, but instead punish those who don't do the million dollar workup. So, when given the choice between spending 27k of your insurance dollars vs losing everything I've ever made in my life over a frivoulous lawsuit won by your defense attorney before a jury of 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty, guess what I'm going to do?
It's not going to be the cheaper evidence based answer.
America needs a Medical Court like it has a Tax court and Patent Court.
You're $200,000 figure is only for the 4 years of medical school.
That doesn't include the mandatory but unneccessary undergrad degree (Europe MDs programs are 5 years after HS) PLUS the rather expensive 3-6 years of residency. Almost no doc these days does a 1 year internship and then practices. No insurances will pay for their services.
Minimum residency is 3 years, which costs another 100k/year to train.
80 hour weeks for $45K/year is like $22.5K/year for 40 hour weeks - not even that, since the second 40 hours per week are a lot harder than the first 40. Sorry, but people who pride themselves on giving everything in exchange for nothing (and look down on others who won't) are fools.
Actually, they're residents.
This guy has laid out that what the position requires is professionalism and pride in your work. If you want to be a clock-monkey, don't show up. He clearly states that initially you get paid between 45 and 65k - and that once you prove yourself by making PRODUCTS THAT WORK (i.e. fufilling your job requirement), you get raises. And it's all tied to the bottom line, and laid out before you PRIOR to the interview.
And the reason you think he should shove it is because it's written to get rid of those of you who want to punch the clock.
You have a job to get a paycheck. You pick your career because you want to love what you do. Don't ever confuse the two.
The telemarketers have started leaving messages on my answering machine. Would it be legal for me to have a message stating that any commercial messages left on my answering machine can be done so at the cost of $500 per message. Simply leave the message and you will be billed.
Now, since it is computer to computer, and my end has clearly stated the conditions, I should be able to collect $500 dollars from every message left on my machine. If I send them a bill and they don't pay up, I should be able to take them to small claims court and win.
The reason we still have paper $1 currency is that we have resisted people telling us that a heavy pocket full of coins is " much better to use " than paper money. The government has tried to tell us that, but we know they always lie, and experience with several dollar coins over recent years has born that out.
I always thought it was because the powerful stripper lobby didn't like being pelted with dollar coins.
All it means is that the counterfitters have 2-3 different bill choices to counterfit, likely making it more difficult to spot a fake. After all, in 10 years, how many 16 year olds at McD's have really seen a 50 dollar bill from 1998?
Heck, it even makes sense that they can't see the sky because of the clouds and the 'solar power' thingy. If they can't see the sky they can't calculate the positions of the stars. If they can't do that they cannot really tell what time or year it is! Absolutely brilliant!
So the machines can make a world look absolutely 100% real, but couldn't figure out how to simulate some stars in the Zion-layer of the matrix?
Voter apathy is partially a function of the way the election is run. Voting booths are only open on one day - a workday. It is difficult for many to leave their jobs and vote. The system should have a week-long period where the voting booths are open, allowing more people the opportunity to vote.
Back in the 20th century, I built a dual Celery 400 box with an Abit BP6 (must be the best MB ever for bang/buck). I think I built the thing in mid 2000 for around 500 bucks. I'm still using it as my primary workstation.
That's 3 years for 500 bucks. Unreal, computing wise. For most things, it's still better than most of my Uniproc machines, though my uniproc AMD 2000+ is now making an impression on me.
I'm looking to upgrade, not because the machine usually feels slow (it still feels snappy), but I've now gotten into digital photography and digital video/audio editing. Dual Celery 400s just don't cut the slack with regards to that.
My next machine that I build will be an SMP box. You just can't beat that future-proofing.
Have you seen the XD cards? I have a few and I'm so scared I'll lose them that I've purchased large plastic holders for them just so they don't get overlooked. These things are literally the size of my thumbnail. Too small...
Let me know when I can take the train from Flagstaff to Phoenix.
I'm sorry if that was out-of-pocket.

People die at 29 from heart attacks.
It's rare, but it happens.

And guess what, CRNPs and PA's are perfectly capabaly and qualified to diagnose and treat the flu. And they're legally allowed to do so.
They can prevent it as well!
Whatever happened to using MafiAA for the MP/RI AAs?
They defined sharing as piracy. We should define them as Mobsters.

Linux, of Course.
Norton Antivirus doesn't run on Linux!!
Ask the telemarketer what company is calling and what company they are calling on behalf of BEFORE you tell them you're on the DNC list.
You know he's using it, and you know he's number 1.

For example, slavery is illegal no matter what you sign.
That's a laugh. Currently, the US federal government has mandated slavery in my profession.
Should someone show up to my office, I'm required by EMTALA to see them. It is a crime not to. I do not get paid for this.
The federal government forces me to work for no pay. That's slavery, folks.
So now I have a growing collection of TV ads on my hard drive encoded to MPEG-4. Go figure.
You're psychotic because we all realize just how MANY Bowflex commercials you have.
Foosball is of the DEVIL!
We could all launch individual lawsuits against SCO and DDOS their legal team.
Go L.Ron! it's your birthday. Go L.Ron! It's your birthday!
I only went as far as Chem 1 for majors, so don't try to save the earth with this information.
Can I use the information to destroy the earth?

Riiiiiiight....
The Architect presents Neo with 2 choices.
But Neo has a third - not to choose and to stay in the room.
I thought this was going to be the spot where the movie ended - as all the previews stated the movie ended abruptly at a plot apex.

Terminating a pregnancy happens all the time. Pro-Choice and Pro-Life are not against Terminating Pregnancies.
Pro-Lifer's are only against Terminating Pregnancies in the first 2 trimesters.
Pregnancies that are Terminated in the third trimester are called "birth".
SMP is the way to go for futureproofing.
