My boss told me it's a good thing that these jobs are going elsewhere since it gives America the chance to support these developing countries, and allows us to move to other areas. But what I still don't understand is what areas are we supposed to be moving to?
I know what you mean, I'm sick of people leaving linux users out of the game.. fortunatly you can see lots of comments by people here with the direct links to the files. so now you can just download them and watch with mplayer.

not because people wanted peace on earth or goodwill toward men, but because they don't have freakin' jobs! All major (minor too i suppose) retailers are reporting poor earnings for the holiday season. This was the worst retail event in a long long time.. in short, this christmas was *not* about consumption.

From what I understand about the GPL, you only have to make the source available. You don't have to distribute all source with all software, you just have to make it available to those that want it. so yeah, I guess it's legit.
Heh, I'm glad this comment got modded at +5 funny rather than -1 flamebait as usually happens when moderaters can't understand a joke when it's being told.
It's ok to refer to distributions by whatever the distributors call them, "Mandrake Linux", for example. The GNU/Linux thing only refers to the operating system when refered to in the abstract. That is, Linux is the kernel, and GNU is what is combined to make the operating system, GNU/Linux.. this distribution of GNU/Linux is "Mandrake Linux"... got it?
"from my call to their technical support this morning, they aren't planning on giving up any of the GPLed source code they have modified"
If they're attempting to breat the GPL then I say screw 'em. Either someone *will* get ahold of it and post it on the internet, or they'll (hopefully) never sell another unit once it's made known they don't respect the GPL.
If we utitlized the bandwidth more efficiently, (multiplexing) we wouldn't have to shut out anyone. This is just a stalling tactic... probably supported by the phone companies to try to get back some of the money they invested in DSL before wireless takes off and they're out of the picture.

Actually you *can* modify it and use it as you like you just can't *distribute* it.
