Taco doubting a M$ conspiracy?
At least I know why my submission got canned. CNN is reporting that the M$ may be having second thoughts on the Xbox. They are resorting to buying gaming companies to get titles for the Xbox. These things are going to make nice little Linux boxen in a year or two.
Since RAM is cheaper than flash, use RAM for storage while the power is on, and dump the RAM storage and active memory to flash at power down. If you save active memory to flash, you could have an instant on system.
The flash would take ~100,000 power cycles to start wearing out.
I'm ready for a tiny video player. A small color screen, TV and FM tuner, 20GB+ HD and maybe a CD or DVD drive. Add a camera and you get a camcorder, too.
Archos has something similar coming out, but the screen is too small.
Here in Memphis there will probably be a thunderstorm about 80 miles away that UPN will have to cover intently for the last 12 minutes of the episode. It happened last season.
Thank God for Kazaa, I got to see the end the following night...
Oh, well, since this is /.:
3. ???
4. Profit!
Microsoft could build this thing *OUT OF* cash!
He was also "Markie Mark" of the (eew, shudder) New Kids On The Block (unfortunatly, not chopping block).
Good riddance. There's never enough beer at socialist parties. And the chicks are always ugly.
you and the secretary could get it on, and it wouldn't have to be a quicky.
For 7 days? Who do you think you are, Sting?
From the Things That Sound Dirty, But Aren't file:
if they don't mind legally giving MS the right to root their box
It's good enough, better than nothing. Let them put copy protection on, it is breakable. Someone will screw up or leak the right set of specs.
If the data can be loaded into a PC, it can be cracked.
If nothing else, there is always the "analog hole".
"Pocket Computer" is a better term. Or a more scifi like term, maybe "Persomp".
These things really need a cool term.
IIRC, the ARRL (or somebody) rebroadcast shuttle coms on several amateur SW frequencies.
You are not a true Geek without a callsign.

Now's where I get the profit, right?
No, first comes:
2. ???
It really doesn't work without that step.
The link I posted is a front page article now.

Rip the DVD's to your HD. Convert to Divx and burn to CD. That will take about 5 days.
Repeat.
where is the content to justify a broadband connection if you rule out the obvious mp3/divx piracy ?
Porn. Duh.
How about this:

1Ghz Athlon with 1GB PC133 RAM and a VooDoo3 3500 video card.
It is only with some files. TV shows and long clips mostly. Sometimes running them through DivFix works, or at least helps.
So, use Kazaa to get the Red Dwarf eps.
BTW, what is the best way to clean up jitter and out of sync audio in a Divx file?
OUTSIDE
That would be the Big Blue Room, right? The one with the really bright light?
The sports problem tends to be a local thing. Here it's fscking college basketball on Wednesday nights. Damnit, I'm an alumnist, who do I complain to?

A hammer would be better. A couple of good whacks should free up the IP.
You are kidding, right?
Damn it man, this is AMERICA, the land of the lawsuit! Start a class action and SUE, SUE, SUE!
And finally, it's the frelling Sci Fi Channel, you frelnick!
Smeg off!
We don't turn the power up on our Cat 5 because we're talk to Slashdot and eBay at the same time...
You aren't transmitting over 200 miles of free space either.
More calls, more modulation, possibly *MUCH* higher average power.
