One thing that would help is if people would stop stupidly going gaga over data wrappers that contain multiple times more metadata than data. XML (which RSS really is) and related technologies are blatantly dumb ideas - both in terms of reinventing a wheel that never needed to be invented in the first place, and in terms of being a massive waste of bandwidth.
Err, seeing as how Wil's married, and happily so, I doubt that he's seeing nearly as much action as he would if he were single... from multiple partners, that is;)
It would probably help if folks actually *read* Wil's blog and knew a little bit about the guy before they posted stuff like this.
DSL! DSL is an awesome distro:) I run it here on older desktops and laptops that don't have the memory or disk space to run Mandrake. It's very small and easily customizable. Perfect! I'm glad DSL is finally getting the attention it deserves:)
Copy the details of the original lawsuit, file it under your *AA association's name, then wait for Microsoft to make you an offer you can't refuse. Hey, if everyone did that, Microsoft would either go broke paying people off, or be forced to go to trial and lose! Cool!
I certainly hope so. What the world doesn't need is both 802.11 and Bluetooth. It's stupid to have two competing wireless protocols that are completely incompatible with each other.
Bluietooth is useless. Get rid of it, and embrace 802.11.
You, and I, and every person who is not a suicide bomber can only hope that in "50 years or so" their culture is the same sort of bad memory that Nazi Germany is today.
Not likely - Mohammad's religion of death has been around for well over 10 times that.
1. Buy missile complex for $300K or less. 2. Get $500K in donations to fix up your own private property (a scam in and of itself). 3. Sell on eBay for $3.95 million. 4. Profit.
For example, in Germany you'll see advertisements touting topless women, which is something I guarantee you won't see in the US.
Yeah, and they also make kaviar klub movies in Germany that show guys licking girls asses clean, and that's something else you'll never see in the US. So, which is better, hmm?
Well, you *do* know what ORACLE stands for, don't you? One Real Asshole Called Larry Ellison.
I still remember a lot of the guy's screwups, I was in the Bay Area in the late 80's and early 90's, when Larry habitually compared himself to God. All in all, an incredibly arrogant individual.
This is nonsense. The original poster obviously didn't read the ruling. "The rebate program by the Lexington, Ky.-based company offers an upfront discount to consumers who agree to return used cartridges only to Lexmark for refilling or recycling." What's wrong with that? The court is just upholding the company's right to offer an incentive to customers. No DMCA challenge implied, gang. Read the ruling before you post, huh?
That's why we have started moving all our server applications (email web server, etc.) to FreeBSD, we're using Linux only on our development server. In our view, the GPL leaves too many holes for companies to slide through and do stuff like this.
That being said, have you tried the Ximian Connector? It will keep your Red Hat servers up to date without you haing to pay Red Hat exorbitant amounts of $$$.
If that's true, why hasn't the "l33t" crowd turned away from Perl and PHP in favor of Escapade and other, lesser-known, server-side scripting languages?
I guess Rob doesn't have anything else to do but drive traffic to his friend's sites. This was probably one of the most inane articles I've ever seen on Slashdot.
Not necessarily. It takes about 60 volts or so to overcome normal dry skin resistance, so you normally won't even feel 12V unless your skin is wet. I've held the terminals of a 12V auto battery many, many times and never even felt a thing.
They just see themselving cranking out serpenting procedural code with no option explicit, late binding object references and using one character variable names for as long as they can possibly get away with it?
Not necessarily. First thing I do is go into the options and turn on "require variable declarations", I only use single letter variable names for "FOR" statements, and no one does late binding anymore. There's also a huge base of legacy VB code out there. Just as the mainframe will never go away, so will VB never go away. Face reality.
I tested this on both Firefox 1.0PR and IE 6.0.2900 running on Windows XP SP2 - neither one exhibited the vulnerability.

I can answer that one - he's a Linux-head :)

He was probably doing what I was doing - writing code - instead of wasting time on /. as you were obviously doing.
I certainly hope so. What the world doesn't need is both 802.11 and Bluetooth. It's stupid to have two competing wireless protocols that are completely incompatible with each other.

Ah-nold would ... it might shut off his source for cigars!
$9? Like where? I couldn't find any for under $35 or so... :(

Yeah, I'll give away my age, too.. ;)
Uh, don't you mean pine or elm or mutt? Lynx is a web browser.
I don't mind worm holes and warp drives, even if we don't have the physics yet to support their existence.
You're kidding, right? The physics behind wormholes and warp drive has been well established since the 40's. Where have you been?
For example, in Germany you'll see advertisements touting topless women, which is something I guarantee you won't see in the US.

Man, this is sooo cool! I always wanted my own cool-looking computer interface, just like in the movies ;)

It's *not* "all about amperage".

the step from VB.Net to C# is so tiny
Really? I can see you know nothing about either VB or C#...
