Are you perhaps thinking of a pyxis machine? [link]http://www.pyxis.com/[/link] The idea is fairly simple. You enter a patient id and you are given drug options. A drawer opens and you count the current amount of items. You take your item out and re-count. done.

Dr. Plummer brought a lot of technology to the health care industry that can be read here [link]http://www.mayo.edu/proceedings/2002/nov/771 1ir.pdf[/link]. One of the items it does not cover that Dr. Plummer did was an intercom system. He called the telco and told a sales person what he wanted. The sales person said it couldnt be done. Plummer demanded to speak to an engineer, who also said it could not be done. Dr. Plummer convinced the engineer that it could and will be done. vwala.

The paging sytem at Mayo now is quite efficent. You have a pager, number 11, for when you are away from your desk. Your boss decides he wants to talk to you. He answers the phone and dials 11. Your pager goes off. You pick up the nearest phone and press #11 causing you to be connected to your boss. If you are unable to answer your pager it rolls over to either a pre-defined number or voice mail. Robots arnt the only/most efficent technology used in hospitals.

Anoter fact from [link]http://www.mayoclinic.org/about/rochester.ht ml[/link] "Mayo Clinic occupies approximately 15 million square feet -- about 2.9 times the size of the Mall of America." hit the site, browse around, be amazed.

a copy of the receipt is usually ok however, yes, they usually require the upc. Dont return items with a missing upc.

Basically if you have good return service you will never have an issue. Most commonly working at a tech store we would get folks trying to return shredders past the acceptable date. They would claim they have never used the unit! well we'd open up the box and peal a half shreaded bank statement out of the blades and ask them if they were sure it was never used? At that point they usually leave with the unit.

WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT RFID'S ???

The 'emforcement' could corral everyone in an area and one by one scan them with a passive rfid reader which ENERGIZES the rfid tag with the tiny bit of electricy on that specific frequency.

Some clues this is a fake. PASSIVE rfid's can only transmit inches, NOT miles. they could use ACTIVE rfids but this would require a POWER SOURCE. this power source would require the device to be external or removed/replaced everytime the battery dies.

come on folks. get educated on rfid and stop being afraid.

I say cat6 just because it is the latest. I use to think I would NOT have any phone outlets because I would use a multi handset phone system however I told myself i did NOT want wireless internet. Your big decisions should be wiring everything vs. wiring everything. Dont forget to look at re-sell prices when considering.

As far as facilitating growth use metal studs on non-load bearing interior walls if you can, they have cables channels in them stock. If your past this point in the build conduit is your friend but make sure you talk to your building inspector to find out what the legal % of full limit is on conduit (for ex. %66 full). As someone else mentioned you should pull several strings with each chunk of wire so you can easily run more, just remember to run new string when pulling more cable! When you pull string it's important to bundle your wires together every 8" with the string NOT in this bundle. All to often folks run string but it runs through the middle of the bundle.

For ethernet I recomend a 110 block. Label your ethernet on BOTH ends of the cabling using something like a p touch labeler and be sure to label your wall jacks AND the wall field. Dont be afraid to use the same wall field for phones.

I have never done anything with running large amounts of coax or fiber so best of wishes there.
