Also, MS isn't playing the race to the bottom game. They are happy to let their oem friends handle that. The Surface is *very* nice hardware and is priced accordingly.
The reason MS is doing their own hardware is because they are sick of the race-to-the-bottom mentality of the OEMs. Quality is always the first thing to go. I would rather they build a solid product and sell it for a fair price. There's still room for oems to come in lower if they want.
We'll see. Zune hardware was better than iPod, it was just too late. The Zune service / software is still better than iTunes but dedicated mp3 players were a hard sell once smartphones started taking off. Surface is very different. Tablets are going to be around a long time. There is plenty of room (particularly in the enterprise space) for MS to come in and gain share.
This is an education problem. People need to learn not to post anything to the internet that they don't want everyone to read. Privacy doesn't really exist.
Been using 8 for over a year. Took me about 3 weeks to quit looking for the start button. Tight coupling between devices and services makes for a better experience. Yes they are copying apple on this but I can't wait for my computers, phone and living room console to all work together.
It's good for companies to change when they need to change. Apple used to be a computer company. Now they're a consumer electronics company that dabbles in computers. Sometimes a shift works out very well. Not sure if this will for MS or not but the writing is on the wall. They need to try something different.
My main battle station uses two 22" display, one 24" display and one 15" display giving me 6486 horizontal pixels. I use them all. When I can do that with a laptop that I can easily carry with me I'll think about it.

Yes. I would rather have Metro.
My Cintiq 24 HD Touch can do vertical or I can move it down.
Have you tried using a touch screen for PC use? I've been using a Cintiq 24 HD Touch for a couple of months now and I love it to death.
Nothing new from Apple. Remember the I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads? Pure FUD.
Sure they will. Real multitasking, USB port, expandable storage, seamless integration with rest of win8 ecosystem.
And ran the country into a ditch.
Windows 8 (and 7 too iirc) has a custom scaling option that will go from 100% - 500%. Or you can select small, med, large.
$550 is quite a bit for a used computer.

Another good option is Arduino. Easy to teach basic structure while wiring up lights and buzzers and stuff to make it fun.
Me too. Most stuff is streamed plus an HD antenna for the OTA channels. Works even better because the "OTA" basic Comcast isn't HD.

Where'd you say you're from? May have to add you to the list.

Which one of these does not resolve:

Apple only does development. As far as I can tell they have zero published research.
Sounds like you could use a Microsoft surface. http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en/us/default.aspx
Instead of comparing the number of computers sold, how about we compare profitability...
Um, as a stockholder I'm happy about that. Not so much as a customer though.
It's only hate speech if it's not true.
Wow, maybe Apple should have just done that. /s
Don't judge. Everyone has their kink.
