"but it is interesting that Sony won't release any of the game data citing privacy policy, even if it could help unlock what exactly drove the guy to end his life."
As if there is any data in there that would lead us to think 'Ah. That makes sense. His 78th level character died and he lost his powerful HackMaster +12 sword. That must be what drove him over the brink!'
The sad fact is probably that he came to the stark realization that EQ only brought temporary relief to his days of quiet desperation.
Why does this story need to be trimmed to fit neatly into three films? How many Police Academy movies did they churn out? 6 or so?!? I would have loved to sit through 6+ films that accurately depict the events in the books.
I use a mouse just as you discribe. It happens to be the puck that came with my Wacom Intuos Tablet. It also has a row of two buttons behind the first.
Why not more than mouse movement?

If it is able to translate the data needed for mouse movement, how much harder would it be to get other forms of input?
Thought typing (direct dictation) would seem to be much faster than the fingers. It would be a short leap from there to get thought -> simulated speech working.
My development machine is a dual processor system. One potential benefit is that if I were to screw up and set loose a runaway thread, it would be much easier to recover because the system is only 1/2 busy with one proc maxed out.
Nobody will be able to appease the hardcore geeks 100%
True enough, but if Saruman dies on a big spiked wheel as they hinted instead of on the doorstep of Bag End I'm guna be ill. Artistic license with the set/costumes is one thing. When they change the story it's just plain wrong.
"Particularly when you consider that I'm probably the only person who's really ever going to look at my code."
Must be nice to code in a vacuum. As for your car engine analogy, I'm glad the VW engineers take pride their work. Its 2.8l VR6 is a thing of beauty, and I keep it clean.

"Evolution is a scientific dogma that is accepted as fact"
Nope. Evolution is a scientific theory.
It's just our best guess of how we arrived here based on the evidence at hand.
That said, it is a better theory IMO than the one put forth by the book of Genesis.
Puh-leez! There is no way we would ever invade our cute-n-cuddly neighbors to the north. What would be the point? You aren't oil rich. You don't provide sufficient strategic benefits (we already bought Alaska from the Russians). Besides, what would we do with Quebec?
Seriously though, if I were you I'd worry much more about being invaded by McDonalds and The Gap. (oops, too late)
"...not every member of Microsoft is an asshole (at least the guy I spoke to)."
I don't work for MS but I find myself working with them a few times a year and I haven't met an asshole yet. The people who write the code seem like just regular folks that care about what they do. I've had to never deal with marketing though.

Check out some of the ThinkGeek stuff on their own 4/1 link. Some Very funny stuff.
You miss half the joke if you just huff and walk away!

You can.

Not that I would ever do that though
Nope. AOL had about a 15 year head start on infrastructure. No way Netscape could compete with that.
You haven't though. Linux uses differnent drivers for that hardware (as I'm sure you know).
It's the driver in most cases causing the crash.
The argument is that if MS bundles DVD software out of the box, most users wouldn't bother to check out 3rd party versions.

But with a GUI you get both. There is almost always a keyboard shortcut for the menu items.

No MS on Itanium? Can that be right? What about Whistler Server due out sometime in 02?
