How can that be the correct answer? Fluids from the second woman are going to be on the outside of the condom, so when you flip it for the third, you now have the second's fluids "inside" the condom. That will work to keep her from getting pregnant, but doesn't do a damn against STDs. I hope some of you guys weren't actually using this method thinking it would work.

Which is exactly the way to do it. I have two email addresses. One that I use for my friends and family, and another that I use for everything else. The everything else address gets spammed quite a bit, while the other doesn't get any. It has pretty much solved the problem with me. I check the spam address maybe once a day just in case some legit came through.

I agree, there are probably many, many users who are not linux zealots. I am one of them. But that isn't the root of the problem.

The problem comes in that the editors of slashdot *ARE* linux zealots. And because of this, anything that Microsoft does is always posted with a negative tint. Even if the original poster is trying to be objective, the editor will stick his $0.02 in, basically to rattle the cage of the other zealots on site. The icon for an MS story is Bill Gates as a borg, for crying out loud!

That was what the parent was trying to get at (I think). Editors trolling MS stories and using degrading icons aren't exactly helping improve the image of slashdot (or linux).

  16. Re:Ok, so let's figure this out.. on Music Industry Staggers While Film Industry Blooms · · Score: 2

Today's day and age seems more of a rehash of everything that's already been done.

Thats because music runs in a cycle. Look back 10 years ago. Same thing as is going on here, music hit a wall, became repetitive. Then grunge came along and kick started music (also helped usher in CDs).

Now go back about 12 years...disco was waining, becoming repetitiver. And then 80s came along and started all over again (ushering tapes this time).

Now go back about 10 years before that. The Beatles to disco transition. And 10 years before that, the Elvis to Beatles. And it keeps going. You even see it in classical, though the cycles are much longer (100 - 150 years).

My theory is that we are getting ready for the next wave. Music has hit a wall, a new distribution method is bursting at the seams...I would bet that by 2005, we will be riding high on the next wave, and the RIAA will have embraced MP3s, or some variant.

While this might help limit some of the RIAA music sharing woes, I don't think it will be felt nearly as much as it will in the Movie sharing and software trading that goes on. When you only have 2GB/m, a few songs, even an album isn't that big of a deal. But an entire movie...thats a different story.
